Hello,
when you are starting a new thread, please make sure that everyone can see what the thread is about with the phone name. 710, 800...
Checking alot of threads but I'm only interested in Lumia 800 related...
Thank you!
I'd rather want separate forum for 710 than increased tags usage.
Yes. Either give the Lumia 710 users their own board (as requested a lot of times) or make them use tags (enforced by a rule)

Hello all, I am needing to unlock an AT&T 8525 to use on T-Mobile's network.
Can anyone give me some cliff notes? Mainly just differences. I have unlocked and reflashed quite a few MDAs so I am just looking to see whats different on doing this to a newer phone. I would imagine lokiwiz.bat wouldn't be used for this? What is the OEM radio? Is there an official WM6 ROM available?
Thanks in advance!

Please?

Dude, its a simple question on the differences of the procedure of unlock two different phones that people feel would be good "tips" for me. I read plenty and it all just seems a tad different. If you think that your post was a great contribution to my current thread then you are highly mistaken.
Anything else?
Read this - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=296722.
And in case sim unlock needed read this - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=293665

When you search, or read anything, you may find people being more co-operative. Posting a new thread is very likely to get you flamed!
Since the 8525 is a Hermes in a coat, unlocking is going to be the same as any other Hermes based device. It doesn't take a rocket scientest to work that out!
Stickies are there for a reason! - If you'd looked through the first 5 threads in the forum you posted this in, you'd have found what you needed, and then, if you had an issue with that because you couldn't be asked to read the post, then you could have posted in that thread!!!
Or, as someone else did, you could have PMed someone - including me!, asking for clarification on the wiki page.
To be honest with you, I don't think posting in a thread 100 pages long yields great results based on my past experiences with XDA. Maybe that's just the Wizard section though...
I get what you are saying but I don't think you are getting what I am saying. I read plenty. I am seeing a lot of terms and processes that don't seem the same that I am used to so I was just looking for opinions. If you want to cripple your "section" of this forum by not letting someone asK for some opinions then so be it. I am not just some n00b logging in asking "hey how i unlock dis fone i got today?"
So I have just purchased and recieved my unbranded sgs2
Model Number - GT-I9100
Android Version - 2.3.3
Baseband version - I9100XXKG1
Kernel Version - 2.6.35.1-I9100XWKG1-CLlabeltest_I9100XWKG1
Build number - GINGERBREAD.XWKG1
I imported this phone and am Running on Telstra (Australia) and I have noticed that a new version of android has been released (2.3.4, 2.3.5) I have tried to get an OTA update but it keeps saying that there aren't any updates so now I'm wondering if because I have an imported sgs2 that I won't be able to receive a FOTA. Do any of you know anything about this?
Thanks in advance
Read the stickies, expect to be hammered by the old school guys if you continue with questions like that.
And how is the poll relevant to your thread?
Obviously I'm a noob at this. J came to this forum for help. not a warning. My poll is up because I wanted to see what people thought.
If you are new, please read. All info is available and very well structured.
What you say to all of us with a post like that is:
"Hey, I'm new. But even if I'm new, I won't bother to read and learn about my phone because is much easier for me to just post a thread so someone can spoon-feed me."
I was new also here, but I took the time to read all related forums and ask pertinent questions that helped me understand what I was missing in a procedure, feature, etc.
Cheers

I have been looking through the posts and have not come across anything that will help me, so I decided to make a new post, specific to my issue. XDA developers is a place for everyone to come for advice, that is all I wanted. Not you telling me that I'm lazy. You have helped me in no way whatsoever. So for future reference, please, If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything.

You contradict yourself. First, you tell me that XDA is a place for everyone to come for advice, then you tell me that I should not give you my advice.
Again, my advice for you is to read and I say this because the way you look at things, you might end-up with a bricked phone since you don't show interest to read the HowTo stickies that are so important for new users. I'll do more than that, I'll show you where to read about your question:
Official firmware, compiled by Intratech (make sure you thank him)
Carrier firmware
If you would of read a little, you would of found these threads (and many others with similar important information) that were linked into zillions of other threads and stickies. Those are the things you should focus first, so you are comfortable with the various procedures described on this site. The fact that nobody replied to your thread should be a flag for you.

SAMSUNG have not switched it on apart from a few test areas as posted multiple times .
You noticed that a new firmware has been released read up on it before going further .

Thanks for your concern. And for the extra information.

please someone unlock bootloader do something work on this please
and please sorry for my thread
As much as i agree with your plead, forumtiquette dictates that thou shall not create threads on such subjects as there are enough of them already created, and pretty active. In other words, run before they come and get you.
this thread is also important becouse the problem is locked bootloader and i think it needs a single thread
i dont have anything to run
This thread is simply ridiculous! If I were a dev on the unlock bootloader project for the Lumia 800, I'd consider quitting the thing. You are suggesting in your thread title that nothing is been done at this moment. Some people are working hard on the bootloader. Please just be patient, and don't ask to "do something", because they really do!
i understood but it would be better to post news here

After an intense examination of this thread, it has been determined that it does not contain development, thus does not belong in development. We are moving it for you, but please make sure you post correctly next time.
Hello everybody, I inform you that we finally have organized all under one umbrella and we are about to work to the release of all Huawei bootloaders. We ask you please, wheter if you are a huawei user or not, to join us in this campaign.
It may seem complicated, (the same that they said 50 years ago about the moon) but I'm sure it will be done, as we have done it before with the kernel for example, it only takes a little willpower. So we've made a twitter, a calendar of actions and more things.
So please , whether you have it or not locked , help us to achieve 100 %
1.Enter our site, dissapointedhwconsumer.tumblr.com and review our manifest for any questions you may have in your minds.
2.Follow us on Twitter, @dissapointedhw, it is important that they see us united and organized.
3. Post thismessage on all forums you know, italians, germans, chinese, everybody around the world, the most important thing right now its reach to all usesrs as possible.
So stay tuned, in short we will start!
(I will post it again with the grammar correction, this was a quick google translate)
See you!

One of my Android phones (the third in my signature), with limited /data partition storage size, shows a large subdirectory, 'oprofile' in /data/bin/oprofile. Running out of space in this partition seems to be a common problem, so I'd like to keep it as lean as possible.
Some research shows oprofile to be a tool for 'tuning' an Android setup -- but exactly when it's useful is not clear, from what I've been able to find.
My question is, is oprofile purely useful while Android is being configured for a specific phone's hardware? In this case, perhaps someone just forgot to delete it, after it served its purpose -- and then, there's no harm in removing this subdirectory and regaining the space it consumes.
Or, does oprofile serve an continuing purpose, being used by the OS to continue the 'tuning' -- as the user adds new apps? In this case, that directory is functional and should be left alone. Or, is there data in these files, created during the initial 'tuning' that must be retained, for the benefits to continue?
? So, what to do? Take it out, or leave it in??
Moderator, should this post be moved to a different forum?
! Bump !
to the moderator, it's been three days with no reply.
Could you suggest a different forum as being more appropriate for this type of question?
Bump, again ...

Please suggest a different section, or a different forum, where there may be interest in replying to this type of question.
There was discussion of oprofile in a Developers' Forum for a specific phone, but I hesitate to repost this question into that thread -- unless you say only these folks have an opinion on this utility. This is a general question, not specific for any one brand of phone -- apparently oprofile may be used with a variety of devices, as well as other distros of Linux.
