Hello everyone,
I have major problems with my htc desire. It was running on cyanogen mod 7 then all of a sudden it started going very slow, the animation and application were very very slow. Also, the phone seemed like to freeze because the hour would stop running thus being late. And the worse, at some point the phone just goes off and restart, also very slowly.
Oh and I forgot, when it goes suddenly slow and I touch it,it vibrates.
Here it is, I tried to change the rom several times and now I am on leedroid 2.5 but it still has the same problem.
Does anyone know what to do ?
Thank you very much
Flash different kernel, try to clear cache, may be an issue on your Rom too

Where can I find kernels ? And can I use any ones with the leedroid 2.5 rom ?
Depends on the kernel.go to your desire development zone, search for thread started with [kernel]

And how exactly can I change the kernel please ? Do I just flash it ?
Yes, you just flash it in recovery like you would flash a ROM. But make sure you use a kernel that is compatible with AOSP.
Well I flashed this one kernel-bravo-2.6.32.38-leedroid-110416 but I still have the same problem...
Have you tried flashing to stock and testing if issue persists? Basically if it isnt the ROM, kernel, or a non-stock app, (one you installed) it's a hardware issue.
Can also try to see whats causing the slowdown either with a process or memory manager.
A little possibility that your apps make these weird things:
Try to think what have you installed before this.

Just flashed this and its super fast and buttery smooth. Three bugs so far for me calendar force closes. Disabling calendar sync got rid of that. The market wont download and install any apps already tried wiping data on that but no go. Also no gmail app still working on that. So I just sideloaded TB and installed my user apps and all else is well in my universe im sure a market fix will be out in a day or two.
If you have root explorer gmail is in /data folder I believe. Just move it to /system/app and you're good to go!
Thanks had a hard time finding in so i just sideloaded the gmail.apk and its all good. Any idea how to install the android email application its not in the app drawer anywhere?
I'm liking this ROM a lot, favorite so far. Seems mostly stable for me. I haven't experimented much with Market. Things I've noticed... Browser seems a little laggy, but not too bad. No blue flashing is nice. This seems have the least Sense integration! (Only thing is during phone calls still has the Sense call screen with green android guy). But the ICS dialer is very nice. Liking it so far, recommend it in fact!
Thank you very much Newtoroot
Hmm I assume you would just need to get the .apk and add it to the /system/app directory. As long as the permissions are set correctly you should be good to go.
same issues! getting FC on calendar and can't download from market..
but otherwise i love it!
I couldn't take the bugs so i flashed back to scroslers Cleanrom ics. I hope to reload when the next update comes out.
Newt said he'd be releasing one tomorrow (well later today now technically) with fixes. Looking forward to it for sure.
Bluetooth Music Streaming
I've been using Scott's Senseless ROM for about two weeks now, and I'm actually pretty happy with it. It has a few bugs here and there, but certainly usable as a daily driver. My biggest issue is that it has issues with streaming music over Bluetooth. It will eventually connect sometimes if I continuously turn the bluetooth music streaming off and on, but it's a real pain. This seems to be the same issue in Scott's CleanROM ICS, and in Newtoroot's Ineffabilis-Deus ROM, so I assume it's an issue with the drivers in the leak. Can anyone confirm or deny the Bluetooth music streaming capability of this ROM?

asked the same question in the rom thread... i'm gonna assume that this is still an issue as it has been on all ICS roms. That's the only reason I don't have a 4.0.whateva running on my phone right now... bt streaming is a must have for me, don't know what i'd do without it...

Yea, this is just one of those hoping against all odds things. I'm pretty sure we won't get ICS + streaming bt until there's an official HTC ICS ROM. I just hope that's soon, and I can't imagine it wouldn't be soon, given the quality of the leaked ROMs. I'm checking online daily like I'm waiting on a check in the mail! LOL

Looks like Newts updated the rom guys...not sure if im gonna flash or not currently running Tachi91's De-Sensed ICS 4.0 which has the trebuchet launcher baked in im running great if any of you guys try it let me know if its worth the trouble.
I'm confused about one thing regarding this ROM. Newt says in the features list that this ROM contains and updated kernel, but it says at the end that he doesn't include a boot.img. I thought the boot.img WAS the kernel? No?

Can anyone shed light on this? I think me not understanding how this works is also causing me other problems. I tried to restore a nandroid backup from my original stock ROM, and it won't boot up. All of the ROMs I've flashed thus far have been from scrolser, which automatically reboot to fastboot (or is it HBoot?) and install the kernel. Does this same type of thing have to be done for nandroid restores? Do I need to perform the restore, then go back and flash the kernel separately?

Use the kernel on page 4 of the thread in the dev. forum...otherwise you may end up with some process.acore crashing hell.
Otherwise, it is an awesome ROM...my favorite senseless ICS one so far.
MMS in ICS
I have tried a couple different de-sensed ICS ROMs and they all have MMS issuses. Is there one out there that doesn't? I know beggers cant be choosers but I love Newts ROM I just need MMS.

Thanks for the reply, but that doesn't really answer my question. If there's a boot.img in the ROM, why do I need to flash another boot.img separately? From some other reading I've done, it looks like the kernel is just part of the boot.img, is that right? I've searched for info on this, but I can't find anything that explains all of this clearly.

I have searched on phone issues and even messagebank... There was a post that seemed similar but not the same.
Unfortunately I can't say just where this issue came in; I only noticed it yesterday and, as mentioned in another thread, I have been trying out ROM flashing. My GUESS would be it has to do with flashing 'modem_CWM_I9300XXDLH7' but that is purely a guess because it is call related.
I have flashed a stock ROM, GT-I9300_XSA_1_20120710170916_9xjds9h0pm to install an Aussie ROM (phone from Kogan and was German model) and more recently flashed 'Kernel_CM10_20120820_Official_CWM' in preparation for trying a JB ROM. (I am planning on using 'I9300XXBLH4_Jelly_Bean_4.1.1_Clean_Stock_Rom_Nandroid_Backup' for a first try)
SO, phone seems to be working well; I managed to crash it (stuck on Samsung screen) but have backups that brought me back up to where I was without too many issues.
But, I noticed yesterday I got a Telstra Messagebank notification for a missed call/voice message. It says it came from +101 but when I click the notification it takes me to a Telstra recording saying the number is not connected. This used to work. Dialling 101 works just fine and I have looked to try to locate where the phone has decided MB is now +101 but can't find it.
It's not a biggie, and I figure maybe I need to call Telstra to get their info resent or something, but it is a little annoying to have to dial each time instead of just press the notification.
Any ideas of what to try? I'm about to flash the JB ROM so if that fixes it I will be back (hopefully without dramas ) soon. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
XXBLH4 is a really old JB leak, flash XXDLH8 instead (DLH9 is newer but has a keyboard bug)
As for your problem, I don't know what to tell you but your carrier won't be able to help you as you have unofficial firmware on your phone and that may be the reason and they will only be able to assist you in regards to the official Telstra fw.
Is it really that big of a deal to dial 101?

that is a strange one. It seems as though it's trying to dial 101 as an international call (with that plus in front of it making it a call to USA number 01), when it should have picked it up as +61 101.
Out of curiosity, what does it come up with when you tap and hold on the SMS and go to "View Message Details"?
@nodstuff - The reason for I9300XXBLH4_Jelly_Bean was because, a. I found it and the file date was something like 25/8/12, and because the description said it has been cleaned up and all bloatware removed. I don't recall seeing XXDLH8 for download but I am new here... I was thinking along the lines of getting something known and stable for my first JB flash.
@Dinty - I don't get a 'View Message' option on a long tap, I get a menu with, Call +101, Send Msg, Edit numbr, Add to Contacts, Send Nmbr, Add to Reject list, Delete.
Further info just noticed - older call from MB (30/8 - prior to new Modem flash) came in as Int'l M'Bank with #101# so somewhere the MB number has altered.
I doubt Telstra will have an issue with the FW etc. It isn't their phone. I bought outright and would be speaking to a rep - IIRC when I got my Moto Defy from the dealer a couple of years back they had to send me a txt which I saved and it set up the Telstra info on the phone. Might be mistaken in memory of that though...
@nodstuff - do you have a recommendation for a XXDLH8 ROM to flash? I'm looking for stable with some optimisation and as clean of standard apps as possible. I've got an Apps backup in Titanium Pro that I figure I can use to put my new apps back.
Also, is the Keybd issue with LH9 itself or just with some ROM's?
thanks for the help...

Well don't flash XXBLH4 so, its very buggy and not stable.
XXDLH8 is very stable and pretty bug free.
There are a few downloads for it (cwm flashable, Odin or an ota package. I suggest cwm or Odin method as the ota method is quite tricky.)

I believe you're talking about the automatic set-up service. I think this is what you mean:
http://www.configure.telstra.com.au/telstra/index.jsp
Not sure it will have any effect on that messagebank issue, but I suppose it doesn't hurt to try!

Thanks for the link - that looks what I originally had to do over the phone, but then I didn't have a Telstra account set up at that point.Didn't work unfortunately. le sigh!
So, I am now the owner of a JellyBean phone, all working nicely and with my apps installed again. All went smoothly and I just chose my purchased and download apps from my titanium backup and Voila!!!
I took the advice and installed GT-I9300_WanamLite.XXDLH8.V3.0.RC4.NO-WIPE - I thought about the DLH9 version of it but saw a note in the thread about keybd issues, so, taking the advice above I DL'd the DLH8 version.
Only thing I have noticed so far is it seems a bit slow on the USB charging. Once it's at 100% I will disconnect and see if maybe power is draining too fast, then look at ways to improve battery.
Just did some trials of the MB issue and noticed something odd - if I try to create a Contact I am unable to enter numbers in the name field. I also tried to set up my mobile banking and using the app provided by the bank I cannot use numbers for my ID, even though it is an 8 number ID. The Keybd simply will not change to numbers until I go to the PW line - is this the keybd error you mentioned as being present in DLH9, nodstuff??
Hm... so I took a chance and flashed Wanamlite's keybd fix; the thread says it is for DLH9 but I figured what the heck, if it fails the phone I can easily reflash the ROM.
Seems to have worked. Gonna leave a comment over there about it because I seem to have noticed something not mentioned by others.
I broke my wifi tether. I am rooted STOCK via Adams Suck it Verizon program, I installed the record call mods and the ultra cool light saber sounds for my s pen. I added Wifi toggle button and the shutter sound option and black background thru csc menu. Tether was working used it to stream netflix on the PSC for about 4 episodes of Twilight Zone. ALL good so far. After I added the new custom Perseus kernal it stopped working.
No brainer right? must be a problem in the kernel that isnt addressed yet. Still got to love the great work from our Devs and not the end of the world. I created a stock Kernel from Adams Revision3 rom that I had already downloaded and put it in thru recovery.
Still no WIFI tether. Now I'm stuck my "no brainer" just became "oh eff." Anyone have ideas on what else may need to be done? Or what I might have done unintentionally. I can reboot to stock and start tweaking all over but I really didnt want to and please dont comment on the fact that I'm too much of an idiot to have made a back up before I lost the tether.:crying::crying:
I'm still interested in any ideas but I wont be able to implement the fixes anyway to try. Gave up and Reinstalled the rooted stock rom complete already.

Hmmm dude idk you should have backed up but you know that. You may have to go back to stock. Have you tried a third party app?

OK, I've been searching all night both here and on Google, and my eyes are starting to blur.. I may be searching the wrong phrase I don't know.. But here's the deal.. I'm using a Note 2 that I got used for an awesome price ($25). It works like it's brand new and so far I'm loving it! I'm on the stock 4.3 mj9 firmware, rooted with saferoot, running safestrap 3.72 (twrp 2.7.0.0). I don't have the funds to send it to Texas for the bootloader unlock, so I'm testing out other touchwiz ROMs in slot 1. I'm not new to the process of rooting and flashing, so I'm not concerned on that account..
But what has got me flummoxed at the moment is the irritating clock that comes stock.. Granted I used cm10 through 12 on my Droid RAZR for years before I got the Note so I got used to a few things and don't like change.. So my question here is, is there any way at all to install a status bar/notification clock that has the same functionality as the cm deskclock? Or even the same look? Right now I have a shortcut to the stock clock on my homescreen but that feels like a clunky workaround solution to me.. I pulled the deskclock.apk from the cm12 that's on the RAZR and sent it to my Note, but when I move it to system\app and install it, it says something like Clock has failed.. I installed it, and deleted every instance of the apk from internal memory but still have it on my SD card in hopes somebody will be able to explain it to me..
Also, is there any way to install a flashlight/torch tile to the notification panel?
Am I out of luck? Am I better off using widgets on the homescreen? Should I install a custom ROM? Any ideas and suggestions are appreciated.. So are ROM suggestions.. I know Dev on this phone has kinda halted due to the bootloader lock, but it's still an awesome device with a lot of power and potential!
Thanks in advance XDA!

Also the phone is just being used as a WiFi device, so if there are any compatible ROMs out there that don't have the phone and messaging software I'd like to take a look at those.. Maybe I should just learn how to build my own ROM..
