[Q] Galaxy S3 Firmware Update [how to] - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi,
I recently rooted my galaxy s3 with Odin, and installed a moded Rom.
today, I decided to go back to the stock rom, and restored my phone with a backup I made before installing this Rom.
-will the firmware update automatically in a rooted phone?
-my build number is I9300XXALE8. Should I update to a newer one? (androidromupdate[dot]com).
-can I do it withput Odin? (through the update/restore page)?
sorry if these questions were already answered...
and thank in advance.
Alon.

[Q] Updating the rooted

I rooted my galaxy S2 I9100G on Android 2.3.6.
Can I update to Official ICS by clicking on option "Settings---> About phone----->Software Update" ?
No, You can't. The best way is flash ICS thru Odin. But then you must do the rooting process again.

[Q] S3 root, please helps

i have the International version,
1-after root the phone, is the stock firmware still there or is gone
2- after the phone is root, can i still use the stock firmware

Rooting has nothing to do with what firmware you can run.
so YES you can be completely STOCK with a Rooted Phone!!!

[Q] Backup Baseband Before Root

Hi all,
Please could someone advise the best method to backup my unrooted baseband before I root.
I previously rooted my old s3 then accidently flashed the wrong stock fw onto it and broke it by upgrading the baseband so it couldn't get a singal, need to avoid this
Thanks in advance

I doubt that you can backup it without root, whereas you could note down your current one and just download it from general sections baseband thread.

[Q] Flashing CM 10.1 on Verizon Note 2

Hey guys. I've been on the "Beans" rom forever (Build 21) and starting to have some issues so wanna try flashing a new rom. I have the Verizon Note 2 rooted with unlocked bootloader (Never took the OTA that locked it) so I have Android 4.1.2 at the moment with VRAMC3 Baseband version. What do I need to do if anything before flashing CM 10.1? Do I need to upgrade firmware or anything? I heard you can brick if you flash a newer rom without upgrading your firmware first? I believe CM10.1 is Android 4.2 so I'd be going from 4.1.2 to 4.2 so I dunno. I'm also using an older version of TWRP as my recovery. Should I download the latest TWRP and flash that first? It's been a while since I did any fancy stuff with my phone just wanna make sure I don't mess it up. Thanks in advance everybody
