ICS root please! - Sony Xperia P, U, Sola, Go

Hey guys, I have updated my Xperia to 4.0.4 ( via ftf file). I was looking at theese posts about root and they are so complicated that I couldnt figure out I it would work or not. Can someoe please post a link to the simplest way possible to root my phone? Maybe a simple explanation attached?
Thanx

Easy way to root Xperia S ICS 4.0.4
This is the easiest way i have found here, you have to use Fastboot tool in order to be able to flash .elf files, remember that you can only root your phone if it is bootloader unlocked already, follow the following info: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1729280

Maybe OP is looking for a one click method that does not require an unlocked bootloader

No no. Bo need for one click. ( would be nice ) I have the unlocked bootloader cause I already tried to root. Thanx for the flashing method. Will try it tomorow.

Update:
Everything is working fine. Root worked and I have already deleted the sony bloatware thanx again...

Hi FastDuck, I really glad to your explanation about how to root this (377) firmware, but there are some questions about that.
How to make unsecured boot.img file?
How to flash the signed 377 kernel.sin to boot section?
Please tell me, I'm really noob about this one
You can check out the developer section of this forum. There are lots of posts and threads regarding this. I'm sure you'll find what you need

To make an unsecure boot.img.. Long story short.. You need to decompress the Kernel.sin from the firmware. Extract the ramdisk. Change a properties file. Repck the ramdisk with the kernel image.. Very short version.. Download boot.img from the developer thread.
You flash the kernel.sin same way as boot.img.
Fastboot flash boot kernel.sin

Have the same problem...my phone was rooted on '42, nut now on 62....GRRRRRR...I want to get off from non-stop background process and boring app's from phone..S keep on looking fore doomslord easy root tool
If you are on rooted firmware .42 or .58 flash the zipfile in my signature over you rooted firmware what you now have only .42 or .58 and you have not do a clean install or wipe things just flash the zipfile and peeps you dont need unl bl to do this.
Cheers
I guess you have locked bootloader. You can try with RootXperia.zip method with CWM recovery for locked bootloaders.
Read this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20671610&postcount=14
I also updated to .62 fw but didn't tried this method, as I haven't got time.
Hmm, you can also try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1446308
Although you will need to flash old .42 or .58 version with flash tool.
Not sure how this one is preroot-ed but I guess same as above with RootXperia.zip, I mean with same files.
EDIT: Yeah, just realized that my first suggestion wont work, because you need root access to install cwm

You can try this ...... (I can't post the links because I'm new here. Who want to know please give me a PM and I'll show the links) . I follow first one and it worked for me. I have a Neo with .62 fw unlocked but the solution is good for locked phones too. Is a very easy tutorial and quick to apply it.
I ask moderators to not warm me again to move my post on other tread (like before). I try to find on this forum 2 days a solution to root my neo but I found only few ways complicated and not good for me. I couldn't post any question on some treads where peoples discuss about this because I'm new here and is a stupid rule what is forbidden this. If I'm new is not mean that I'm stupid too.
Thanks.

So if you found some new method, which isn't already explained in (at least) 2 threads, tell us.
For locked BL you have this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1468866
For unlocked BL: simply get kernel which have recovery, and flash rootxperia.zip

[Q] how to root WT19i for noob (4.1.B.0.431)

Does anyone know the easiest way to root (no downgrade, etc.) for WT19i with android ics 4.0.4 (4.1.B.0.431)?

You must first have your bootloader unlocked. Search the forum for ways on how to, there are (2) current methods being used to. When your bootloader is unlocked, download either expeacer's extended kernel or krsh v 3.0( check my sig ) and install it via fastboot mode. By following this you accomplish the ff: root your phone, install cwm and busybox. Btw, someguyfromhell has made a tut for this. Check it out.

P2P, are you on the wrong forum? This is called community bro, no one leeches from one another. Information gathered from one's experience and from our experts are being shared in here for free and so is with whatever MOD you find in here. When someone post a question, try to answer it with what you know otherwise read and observe. Know the forum rules, respect community members and acknowledge post you found helpful by a simple thanks. It's free afterall.
Downgrading is the best option, even for noobs like you and me
I did it on my xperia mini pro and it worked like a charm, just follow the instructions, it's really easy once you've read them carefully

No, so far there is no known way to root ICS 4.0.4. Downgrading is the only way if you want to keep your bootloader locked.

I will recommend the official method. Here, you will lose DRM files. But,from my view ,they are of no big use at all
On the other hand, the s1 tool doesn't exploit the DRM files, but a small mistake could brick your phone.
you choose

yes you can.. this wont affect warranty..google DRM..for eg. like track info
Better go on with official method..
Unlocking your phone via the official way would result in losing of your DRM keys.. This won't allow you to use Sony 's official apps like track id.
And furthermore you won't be able to update your phone via OTA or SEUS..
But you don't worry about them as we have solutions here on xda!
There are more cons in the official way but still I recommend you to use this method as it easy than s1 tool and would involve less chances of damaging your device!
Cheers!

See I recommend you to first unlock your bootloader and then root it!
Without unlocking your bootloader, you can't directly root. 62 firmware!
But after unlocking it you'll be able to root your device via fastboot by flashing the recovery neo. img
And to save your time, flash a custom kernel instead.. They are pre rooted and comes with CWM!

couple of questions about my Xperia P

Hi all,
This forum does not look so active as the one i came from (Xperia X10) so i'm forced to open this thread in hopes that more people will see it and be able to help me...
So the situation is very simple:
1. I am on newest ICS 6.1.1.B.1.54 - which apparently can not be rooted yet
2. My bootloader is locked and can not be unlocked (it says bootloader unlockable: NO (and i can not continue the process))
If there are no solutions currently for my situation then i would just like to ask:
3. Is there some way that i can get some options when i open the notification bar? like wifi/screen rotation etc. It is what i miss the most on this stock ICS rom.
MY IDEA for a solution to:
1. is it safe/possible to use flashtool and flash for example LT22i - 6.1.B.0.544 -Central Europe - ICS? Then root and install CWM and then custom rom for locked BL
2. i have no idea but apparently the official repair shop can change the NO to YES - if so, can i do it somehow myself?
3. no idea...
Any comment would be appreciated, even if nothing can be done, please someone who has knowledge about this...help

use notification toggles or powerful control to get toggles in notification bar....

flashtool i have used on X10 and found it very good, but i was not sure if it is OK to use it now on the XP while my BL is locked and i have no root, i don't want to create more problems for myself than i already have
i have tried binary's method and it says that it is successful but it does not work, there is a discussion about it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2020539&page=1

Flashing is also safe with locked bootloader. I've been flashing like crazy since I rooted my phone 4 days ago.
Just do backups and follow instructions carefully.
