Hi there..
does anyone know where I might be able to download the Australian generic gingerbread firmware for the xs?
I updated to the latest gingerbread firmware using pc companion and have the300 mb file in the blob_fs folder, but I'm not sure if or how to use that file to flash my xs using flash tool.
I am running ch generic ics.
Decrypt blob_fs and flash it with flashtool.
Thanks for replying.
How do I decrypt blob_fs?
I think this answers my question.

Use flashtool.

5) Can the firmware downloaded from above link, can it be simply installed using the flashtool like it is done here -

*) same firmware with minor difference i think. Almost no difference between them.
*) if you using .ftf (flashtool files), you dont need to flash baseband and kernel, they are included in .ftf bundle i think.
*) i have no idea what you mean. But if you mean backup files to restore via recovery, you dont need them if you flash your firmware via flashtool.
*) no difference between them, just similar name, firmware and ROM is sinonym. Firmware is ROM and ROM is Firmware. CMIIW
*) yes i think.

Try this...
Power off the phone
Remove the battery
Hold down the back button
Put the battery back in while still holding the back button down
Press the power button
Release the power button and the back button
This should put the phone in flash mode.
Hey in india we officially have gingerbread download pc companion HERE and connect ur phone mount usb storage and start pc companion and it will ask to update and update ur phone...
Is there any way I can install Official ICS without the bootloader unlocked & without flashtool?
Surely I can update to it somehow due it being rolled out xperia phones?
My phone is the Xperia Ray.
You have to wait for ICS to release in your region.
OR
You can root and edit build.prop i.e change the CDA string to the ones which have recieved the update and then update it using PC companion.
BUT the most simple way is to flash a ftf file using flashtool .
Flashing official firmwares do not require unlocked bootloader or root

Hmm, I downloaded a firmware posted by a moderator on the sony ericsson forum last night, would that work?
Ok, I'm flashing ICS now.
Hi,
I'd like to experiment with kamarush's roms for the mini pro. They seem fast and stable, and better than the official ics update for now.
However,
I always need to go through wotanserver to be able to downgrade, as I have a Belgian Azerty version, and I can't find the correct firmware online.
So... How can I back up the full firmware that is now on my device?
(Stock Mini Pro, 2.3.4 build 62, not rooted)
You can't create a .ftf file from your phone (only through Sony Update Service and MAYBE through PC Companion, wait for someone to confirm this). So I think you could:
a) Try a Software Repair through PC Companion (if someone confirms it), that will download your original firmware. Then check the forum for a tutorial about how to create .ftf files.
b) Root, install CWM Recovery and create a full backup. If you want to come back to stock ROM, just flash whichever .ftf file, root, install CWM and restore your backup. That should do it.

I am looking for this kind of confirmation. Is it possible to create a .ftf file using PC companion?

Probably...But you will need a COMPLETE update not a minor update ...As in .431 to .587 is a minor update but .62 to .587 is a major update and you might be able to get the binary blobs to make FTF ...Best way is using SEUS however ...You can't go wrong with it ...
Also probably you are better off creating new thread rather than bumping 1 and a half year threads ...

their is no need to back up tft file since stock files are availabl to download AND flash ( require which version your phone having CHECK YOUR PHONE SETTING)
as well their is sony update service to repair and update your phone.
by the way you can do one thing if you really wanna back up just root your phone install CWM And do nandroid recovery (back up)
for further help look into my Sony live with walkman post (kinda boring) but it will help you in future.
Hi all,
I am trying to flash my Xperia X (bootloader locked) with the latest Nougat official release with the Nordic Combined customization (34.2.A.0.273, CDA 1302-3140) using the latest Flashtool release (0.9.23.0). In order to do so I've created a copy of the script file for 34.2.A.0.266 (only Nougat available for the Xperia X) and renamed it to F5121_34.2.A.0.273.fsc. Unfortunately the flashing process doesn't complete succesfully and I keep on getting the following error:
Code:
ERROR - Processing of system.sin finished with errors.
Do you know whether that is an issue related to Flashtool being incompatible with this specific firmware version (34.2.A.0.273) or has to do with something else? Has anybody successfully flashed the Xperia X Nougat Nordic Combined firmware without unlocking the bootloader?
Thanks for your help!
weird, had the same thing yesterday. Solved it by flashing only system.sin and after that the full ftf

Thanks for your feedback! I´ll try to flash it the way you proposed... Did you use any flash script (renaming the Nougat existing one)?

Yes is also renamed the 34.2.A.0.266 script to 34.2.A.0.273.fsc
I did flash without any errors full ftf of Nordic firmware
Here is an update on my current situation:
The problem seems to be related to Flashtool (I am using the latest version 0.9.23.0). I've tried flashing different customizations of the Nougat firmware (Customized NOBA and UK) and every single time I get the same system.sin error. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Flashtool (including the drivers) without any improvement. When I repair my Xperia X with Xperia Companion it updates it to 34.2.A.0.266 Customized UK without any issue (the original firmware installed in my terminal was a Customized UK). Furthermore, I've recently flashed a Xperia E5 using Flashtool 0.9.23.0 with the same computer without any problem.
Does anyones have a clue of what I might be doing wrong when flashing my Xperia X with Flashtool or whether it would be possible to force Xperia Companion to repair the terminal with the Customized NOBA instead of the UK one?
Thanks!
after the rename, flashtool should notify you that a new script was found, and ask you to use it, click yes... then will ask you to skip or continue... you should click Yes Continue, then all process should work fine....
did you rename like that : F5121_34.2.A.0.273.fsc ???
also should be placed in C:\Users\yourname\flashTool\devices\F51XX
I'm looking to flash 32.3.A.0.376 (Customized AU) onto my Z5 Compact which is currently on 32.2.A.0.305 (Telecom NZ) because I heard 'Customized' firmwares don't come with bloatware and the carrier boot animation.
Is there anything I need to know or do before I flash the firmware? Perhaps backing up the TA partition (or whatever it's called, not too sure.) or do you only do that if you root? Do I even need an unlocked bootloader to flash this official Sony firmware straight from Xperifirm?
Thanks.
Just finished downloading 32.3.A.0.376 using Xperifirm.
No unlocked bootloader needed to flash ftf with flashtool. But there is still bloatware in the firmware.
Hi! I've downloaded the firmware throw Xperifirm, Do I need to make a TFT file or something? Is my first time hehe and I haven't seen any updated tutorial about this

Right, you need a .ftf file. If you started Xperifirm through the button in flashtool, after closing XF, flashtool will make the file automaticly.
The tutorial stays the same, you need no updated one.
