Hi!
I wounder if someone working on more customs roms?:-D

Quality over quantity. KA09, CM9, AOKP and AOSP are pretty much everything you can ever need.

I would also like to know about custom roms, especially those based on the stock kernal so us poor sods with a locked bootloader can use them

Don't expect AOSP ROMs, those won't work on Sony's stock kernel.

I have only found ka09 rom and cm9

They are coming ... Be patient..

Until AOSP/AOKP/CM get's going you'll have to go with a rehashed stock..

no idea what they're like, Krabappel seems to be the only one regularly updating. Personally I'm using stock, rooted and all the toss stripped out until we get a working open source build

i just need it to take pictures use whatsapp, phonecalls and internet.
Thanks in advance.
Well, there is a stable version of CM9, and a nightly after that stable version with a few more fixes I believe. Otherwise, try resurrection remix, slim ics, etc.

what about that CM10 u have is that very unstable? what about the other Roms are the better?
Thanks for the prompt reply!
It's dressed up differently, but if you break it down, it's still basically asking this question.

I use CM10 as my daily driver. It's usable and better than CM9 in my opinion. BTW, I still don't get your problem. What feature are you exactly looking for?

All three are fine. CM10, being based on Jellybean is the newest, with really few bugs (which will hopefully get fixed once Samsung released Jellybean for the S2). Try CM10, otherwise go back to CM9. Make sure to do a nandroid backup of CM9 before moving on, so that if you feel CM9 is better, you don't have to go through setting it up all again.
This thread is becoming more of a "what's the best ROM?" type which is discouraged. You need to check these things yourself as preferences differ from user to user and handset to handset.

I recommend resurrection remix 3.0.5.
I use it as my daily driver. It is very fast and stable.
Work almost everything.... what I need.

Going Back Stock

I have enjoyed cm9 with all customizations , but realize I would be better off stock with possibly jelly bean update. Battery life has been horrible with cm9 for me. Tango app is not working with cm9, however, all the others video calling apps work at various volume levels so, how do I go back unrooted and stock?
Is cm9 the only custom rom you've tried? I would give hotwires cm9 with oc kernel or hotwire/dagr8 cm10 with oc kernel, see if that helps. I don't think you'll see a jb official for a while.

Agreed.....g
I can't find the sticky on how to go back to stock btw I left iPhone for android and I was tired of having to wait months for untethered jb just to add toggles that come stock on my Note. IMHO I don't really see the benefit of rooting aka Jailbreaking android as it offers great customizations native especially over iOS lol

Is there anyone who still uses ICS on S3?

i think a lot of people in XDA uses Stock Jelly Bean. Is there any one who still uses ICS?
Yes, mainly for the kernel support
Edited, because Swype thinks "mainly" is the same as "flash" lol
Me rotfl
I'll try JB later on, ics is really stable now
Inviato dal mio GT-I9300 con Tapatalk 2
yep, was using RandomBlames Jellytime on my DHD. But fell back to ICS (CheckRom) on my S3, why? Because ICS is soo stable and it all works, so I'll give the devs some time to sort out the foibles with an official JB release before jumping ship.
Jellybean's still too buggy to use everyday and just doesn't have enough extra features to put up with the hassle.
i dont think i will update to JB because the MX player that supports DTS doesnt't work on JB, and the updated version that does work on JB had DTS removed because of licensing isssues.
So i rather play MKV's with sound on ICS than to use JB with a worse video player.
Once kernel sources are released for JB, ill start using it.. that memory leak is just annoying.
Till then CM9.1 will do me just fine !

Still on stock (but rooted) ICS, too many problems with JB still.
Like many previously answered, I still use ICS for its stability.

I am on stock JB and think its a hell of a lot better than ICS by far, just my opinion, but if this has bugs in it can't wait to see it without bugs

You mean to say that you've never had a problem that you couldn't ignore. The latest LH9 leak is worse than the earlier leaks. LH7 was probably the best.
The most major issues for me were:
FC on keyboards, including Samsung's
Non-Working LED notifications
Strobe LED on charging
Ugly gray status bar
Terrible autobrightness (much worse than ICS) and defaults set way too low
There were a few others mentioned in the thread, but for me, I'll happily wait on LH1 with Domination Theme anyway. When Vertimus makes Domination for JB, I'll probably update.
I keep trying jb roms but non ever float my boat always some kinda issue ether lagg or fc so I'm still rocking fox hound ics its sexy and smooth without the Bs, I'm forever tempted when a new jb rom arrives but deep down know it will fail:banghead:

Sammy roms vs aosp speed

Hi guys just wondering is there any way to make pure Samsung roms as fast as aosp roms are such as cm 10.1 because even when I've frozen all the bloatware on any Sammy based rom it never seems to be anywhere near as fast or as smooth as a aosp rom, any ideas guys to get this kind of speed?
Cheers

Also I think it could be something to do with the kernel on cm roms cause at the moment I'm using sotmax v 15 with latest perseus and I even have it OCed to 1.ghz and yet it still lags and stutters especially when opening apps and recent apps menu. What the hell could it be, I'm sure stock rom can't be like this otherwise no one would buy galaxy s 3..?

Well I certainly don't have lag opening apps, lag does appear after I've installed a few new apps or app updates but thats a rare and my recent apps menu is smooth.
The issue is not very related to the kernel, imho, because I tried dual booting with Siyah kernel between Sammy rom and CM10.1, and with CM rom I felt everything WAY more smooth, also in terms of free memory and multitasking:
I use Titanium very frequently, and with Samsung roms 90% of the time when I open it (even after a quick app switch) it has to reload the app list (because it was killed), while on CM10 it remains in memory much more, even with the same installed apps on both ROMs...
I disabled around 50 system apps in the samsung rom, still not enough to free the memory.
Yeah but I don't understand what is on cyanogen mod that makes it so much faster and what is on Samsung roms that is slowing them down so much?

please, me too.
also other thing i read people are doing is using another launcher, like nova launcher. for me changing the kernel did the difference, i use boeffla kernel now.
Samsung stock roms are bloated as hell whereas CyanogenMod is pure aosp with just basic android system and important components to run it smoothly. Also CM feels more smoother because of various system tweaks and performance optimizations by the awesome devs whereas the samsung roms don't even implement the very basic of Google's Project Butter.
I've used Omega rom and damn that was fast for a stock rom. It is tweaked very well, I suggest you try that out too. I use Omega and CM dual boot with Siyah kernel. Curretly i'm only running Cm10.1 coz Siyah kernel hasn't been updated to support dual booting of jb 4.2.2
Is there not a way to strip samsung roms down so they're as fast as cm by removing all the crap you're talking about?

Most roms like the Omega rom remove unecessary bloatware. But the basic issue lies within the touchwiz design itself. The sammy rom is entirely a resource hog and the system is basically bloated with unecessary crap.
The most you could do at a user level is to remove useless apps, disabling unused services and most of all NOT use Touchwiz.. Instead use something like Nova launcher which gives you a more stock feel and is relatively low on system resources.
Personally I'll mention that Omega rom is pretty smooth when it comes to overall system performance. But again its just a modified version of the crap sammy rom.
PS: If you hate the fact that normal system apps like the dialer and call log take way too long to load on ur sammy rom..Use exDialer and exContacts.. A very very good alternative to the native apps..Loads extremely fast and has waaay better UI than sammy.
My primary rom is CM 10.1 for obvious reasons. But I'll keep Sammy rom on dual boot until they fix the Camera issue with AOSP based roms..
I think I'm genuinely going to consider just switching to aosp because it's just pissing me off how much slower it is the only thing keeping me from switching is probably the battery life and the crappy camera you get on aosp roms.. But to me it doesn't look there's a way to fix the ****ty Samsung roms and I don't understsnd how they are getting away with shipping this crappy bloatwiz on probably the best phone out at the moment..
