[Q] SGH-I747 vs. SGH-I747M? - Galaxy S III Q&A, (US Carriers)

I have a question about the difference between the SGH-I747 vs. the SGH-I747M...
The SGH-I747M from Rogers is my first North American Android phone. My previous phone was an I9100... I often read about people who flashed I9100 ROMS on their I9100G, I9100T and I9100M phones who bricked their device.
It appears that ROMs for the AT&T SGH-I747 are fully compatible with the Canadian SGH-I747M models... is that correct? What is the difference and why do they have different model numbers? With the I9100, the letters indicated that there was different hardware in the phones.

kyanROM works fine on my SGH-i747 and it is based on one of the canadian phones. check the att dev forum for more info.
hope that helps.

[Q] where is the Bell Galaxy S Vibrant i9000M forum?

From what I understand the Bell mobility Samsung Galaxy S vibrant is different than the US T-mobile Vibrant. This forum is about the later. But the Bell is not quite the "international" i9000 either. So which one is the good forum? Or should we ask for a new one?
I think most people have been discussing that in the regular i9000 forums. I have seen them post firmware and such for that over there.

**International SGS2 Roms are not compatible with AT&T SGS2 10/3 **

Just to help eliminate constant posts about international roms working on AT&T SGS2.
The International Roms usually include modems and kernels that do not support AT&T SGS2 capacitive buttons and modem. Once development is furthered I am sure we will see I9100 roms(International SGS2) on our AT&T SGS2. Until then please be patient.

Only AT&T?

I know that this device is titled AT&T Galaxy Note N1717, however I was wondering if the Telus and Bell versions of the Note are the same model. The N7000 has the big physical button and the N1717 has the 4 capacitive buttons, correct? If that is true then will any of the development items in this forum work with Canadian counterpart of the AT&T Note? The Telus and Bell version of the Galaxy Note both have the 4 capacitive buttons and no physical button. Are they the same as the AT&T model? Also the Note on Telus and Bell are both capable of LTE.
Look around the Note forum and you'll see lots of discussion on this. The short answer is you are right.
Afaik all the i717 are the same. The last letter "R" or whatever, just designates carrier/branding. All hardware is the same.
The N7000 is different. Do Not mix firmwares.

stupid telus note question

im just about to upgrade from my sgs2 i9100 to a telus note lte .. (the seller keeps calling it a note lte,, not just a note..)
just a stupid question but is there any difference between the telus, rogers, bell, at&t versions of the note???
i have been looking but i have not found any real answer if there is a difference in the hardware that will affect flashing various roms and rooting..
from what i have read the hardware is the same for all models (right?)
and i can use modems from tmobile...??????
thanks for any help
From what I know, the hardware is the same. The reason he calls it the "note lte" is because of the international version which has completely different hardware.
You should be able to use T-Mobile modems just fine. You could have him give you a screen shot of the "about phone" page in settings to verify its an i717x.

[Q] Will an unlocked i9100 work in Canada?

My stepson is emigrating to Canada and would like to take my old GT-i9100 with him.
I have sim unlocked the device using GalaxSim Unlock and it is running SuperNexus 3.0 (4.4.2).
Will it work on Canadian networks?
Check the bands/frequencies the S2 has (from Wiki/wherever), then check the frequencies the carrier(s) in question operate with. There's your answer.
