Hey guys, i'm new to the XDA-Forums but i'll have some questions.
I'm about to root my Samsung Galaxy S2 Android( 4.0.3)
baseband: I9100XXLPW
and Kernel is XWLPD
I would like to root with this method:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1125414
I've readen this and understand everything expect some things..
If i have rooted my phone, can i still update when (a new update) 4.0.4 has released?
AND what apps does i get if i rooted? (because i only want superuser)
Well that's all i want to now,
*bump*
somebody??!
Rooting will install Superuser during the process. If you're rooted and get an OTA update and install it, you'll likely lose root. So, you just have to re-root...
Sent from my MB865 using xda's premium carrier pigeon service
I did everything, got the superuser and i did run root check but it says sorry i don't have root
realy weird
what should i do!?
i flashed again to unsecure kernel
should i start s2 root again and click root device or unroot and then root ?

Did you reboot after rooting? If you have the Superuser application from the rooting process I'd be led to believe it worked.

Yes, but what weird is it didn't ask for permission
so i think it failed with rooting ..
what should i do click again on root device or unroot and then root ?

Root Check didn't ask for permission, or which app are you referring to? You could try to re-root, won't do any harm. You followed all 11 steps in the rooting guide exactly?

Um... try doing something that requires root?
do you see a "superuser" app on your drawer?
if not its most likely you are not rooted
Hi guys.
I have huawei honor with android 2.3.6 and just want to know if there is an easy and safe way to root it.
I think SuperOneClick or Gingerbreak maybe works. Also, you can try this.
Rooting
superone click will work on your phone..dont worry. or use the above link posted by tropblaster i cant post link
But do i have to root to use a custom recovery?
Yes (No, there isn't another way, you MUST root).

Hey guys!

i think original kernel is so nice and didnt wanna change it...
but can't live without root...

Simple answer: kernel is NOT included in root process for SGS3
You need CF ROOT

Try CF Root from this thread ... it just roots your device without changing kernel/platform

I was about to ROOT my Galaxy S3 and just found out that JellyBean will be coming next month. So I was wondering, If I do ROOT my phone will I be able to receive the OTA update without any problems? I don't care that I lose ROOT, I just don't want to brick my phone

No it won't brick, you will lose root, but just run c.f. root 6.4
And you'll get root back.
No loss of apps.
I do suggest do a nandroid backup just in case, don't forget to uncheck ever root in supersu app.
I've done one ota before and lost root, even though ever root was enabled in supersu.

Cf root is a chainfire root package I use with my s3
As for OTA updates, yes you will still get them with your rooted S3 & Yes you can install them
You will just lose root.

So the ota will only make it lose root even with Verizon?
Dear All
I installed siyah and now i have CWM , Super user programm and some Utilities icons.
I would like to unblock the device do i need to use those application mentioned or i can jump to next process which is installaion of Galaxy s2 unlock from android market???
Regarding the CWM and Super user icons which are present on the phone do we need to use them for some reason???
Regards
Vinay
install the android unlock app from market.
Super user is the app which grants you permission to access the file structure of phone so you can unlock it.
cwm is updated recovery that comes with rooting of the phone allows deeper access the root of the phone.
In any case do not make any changes to these files unless phone downloads and update.

Hello
Yesterday i failed the unblocking process with diferent ways that are suggested by XDA also previously i uploaded to my S2 stock ROM taken by SAMOBILE and i did not succeded unblocking the device; i runed ROOT checker and i found out that root process was done incorrectly so maybe this is the reason that i did not succeed in unblocking process my question is :
a) should i try different stock ROM and do all process again?
b) i am using kernel : I9100XXLQ6 is this problematic ROM that makes rooting process difficult?
Best Regards
Vinay
Try flashing siyah again to gain root, steps in the thread ,,,,do search
What unblocking are you referring to? If you meant Sim unlock have you tried the chainfire's app yet?
