No clue. Is it like windows where it says safe mode on the screen? Have you tried pulling the battery and trying again?

Ok. I found if you hold power and when it vibrates let go of power and hold MENU button untill you get to lock screen. Bottom left says "Safe mode".

[Q] Frozen Galaxy S2

SO I haven't seen a direct answer to my question....
I did a software update on my Galaxy S2 and it downloaded fine. After the download it froze on the "software update" screen. It's a white screen with software up date above a progress box, but there's no progression showing. It just says "loading...."
How do I fix this? I've seen a few post with people having the same problem, but no answers!! It's been like this all day.
I have tried turn off and on with power button, as well as attempting a hard restart, but nothing works. The white screen pops up despite any attempt. Ohhh and I also already tried removing the battery.
Any help is greatly appreciated......I am a big noob when it comes to this technology, so PLEASE bare with me.
Still loking for help!! Any one!?

What device do you have (be specific - there are many variations of the Galaxy SII)?
ATT, SGH-I777. I've tried to do the 3 button reset, but nothing is working. No matter what it loads to the white loading screen. I'm getting really frustrated I touch the thing. It's taking all my might not to just thrash it.....it must be due to my lack of tech smarts.

Try this:
- Power the phone off.
- Plug the usb cable into the computer (not the phone)
- Hold both sides of the volume rocker down (vol up + vol down)
- While holding those buttons down, insert the usb cable.
Then flash the stock rom.
Gave me Odin mode. Any tips on what to do, or do I just follow the instructions? THANK YOU!!!!!!!
Awaiting the next step since I have no clue where to get file or how to set it up. Do I use Odin 3185? Or something else? Any links will help. This is a US phone if it matters.
I'd like to get it done today if possible!!!
Thanks in advance!

[Q] Atrix wont boot

I have searched all over the internet and have not found a problem exactly like the one i am having. My Atrix 4g will not boot. It will get to the Dual Core screen, but no farther than that. I can get to the menu by holding down the volume but and power button but when i select a menu option it does nothing. My phone was not rooted, it is factory with the lastest version on it. THe other day i pulled the phone out of my pocket at it was turned off. I wouldn't turn i so i plugged it in and that is when the problems started. Any help would be great! Thank you!

You might need to restore it to factory setting with an external method 'cause your phone wasn't rooted or unlocked. Search for the RSDlite method to flash the original rom. You will need to download a specfic sbf depending on the operator of your phone, but there's actually a post in the forum where they hold every sbf

No there isn't. SBFs have been taken down because they're too dangerous and using them often results in bricking the device. You'll probably have to look for SBFs elsewhere.
Is there any way to save the data on my phone?
Doubt you can save data unless you can get it recognized through adb. Have you tried the other boot modes other than fastboot and rsd?

I tried recovery mode again and while the phone was plugged in it just said "Entering Android Recovery Mode" i unplegged it and the android guy with the explanation point showed up so i plugged the phone back in real quick (didnt want the battery to die.) With that screen i tried tapping in the lower right hand corner of the screen to access the menu, but nothing would happen from that point.
UPDATE: I was able to press both volume buttons and get into the menu. I was able to select wipe/factory reset buy pushing the power buttong. It is currently rebooting.... has been for several minutes..... Hope this works!!
i tried making a factory cable last night but, it didnt turn out to good..... Is there anyway to charge the battery enough, without the phone, to allow me to flash the device?

Would i be better off purchasing a factory cable off of ebay or something, or buying an charger to fully charge my battery and try flashing that way?

[Q] I777 not booting after root then wipe

Mistakenly posted this over in the I9100 forum first.
I tried to root an S2 with ODIN and siyah. Afterwards it worked but I noticed that the splash screen showed I9100 (I used the I777 file). Anyway, I later realized that the guy i bought it from had left stuff on it (he reset without wiping). I decided to wipe it and now it won't go past the splash screen and won't go into download mode that I can tell.
I was told in the other forum that I will most likely require a jig to get it to work. Considering I can't even root the thing right, I will probably buy one instead of making one. Does it matter what model of S2 it is on the jig? I see some that say I9100 but not I777. I just want to make sure if i order one I get the right thing.
What did you try to get it to download mode?

To get into Download Mode, I held down the down volume, the home button and the power button. The splash screen comes up but just goes blank after that. I'm afraid I may be out of luck.
Thanks for any suggestions you can give - i feel sick about this whole situation!

You should read the stickies... You're doing it wrong.
Volume up and down plus power. Leave USB disconnected.
Everything is explained in the stickies.... Read them

The sticky I am looking at doesn't coincide with what you are saying, which may be why I am confused. The guide says:
Boot into download mode by this method:
With the phone powered off, plug in the usb cable while holding the vol up + vol down buttons (but not the power button).
When the warning screen appears, press Volume up to continue into download mode.

Which is not giving me a dang thing. Doing your method or any other method only gives me the splash screen then black again.

Sorry. Volume up down and power is for recovery. Volume up down and plug in usb is download. The only way this would have changed on your device is if you flashed primary or secondary bootloader from the i9100
But based on what you said before is that you were following the i9100 method to get into the different recovery and download mode, since the i777 doesn't have a physical home button like the i9100

Well, I followed a video from galaxys2rootdotcom that said it was for I777 and the file I used said I777 but after doing it, the splash screen said I9100. If I hold down the powerbutton and or other buttons while it is not plugged in, I get the splash screen with the exclamation then it goes off. If I try it while it is plugged in, I get a grey battery icon. Sounds like best bet is a jig?
Check out my signature and download the adb portable from one of my previous posts.
It has a reboot download mode batch file that should be able to help you out.

Thank you for your suggestion. I tried it and when I plug in the phone and turn it on all i get is the grey battery icon then it goes off after a few seconds. thanks though.
Sounds like your battery is extremely drained. Try leaving it in the phone overnight and then use the wall charger in the morning.

Red - that was my initial thought but it was fine before I did the wipe and I did try charging it some. Also, when I did the wipe, it was plugged in, which makes it odd that it would die. I'll certainly give it a try.
One thing I noticed at home that I had not seen here (it was too bright to notice) was that it does indeed seem to be stuck in a loop. The screen flashes a little brighter every few seconds before going dim again. At this point, it doesn't seem that I have much option but to wait to try to use the jig to get it in download more *fingers crossed*, and then swear to never get advice from rooting from anywhere but here.
I got my jig in and immediately went into download mode, which was a relief. I went to try to reset to stock using the link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1313659 . Everything okay but when it comes up to the welcome screen and try to click on the android to start, i just keep getting errors about google services framework stopping.

Thanks, I just saw something else that said I should do that, but I can't figure out what I need to do that since all I get is the welcome screen. Recovery mode? (Sorry, I got into download mode but unsure about recovery).
on edit: Okay got into recovery (sorry, this device is new to me).
Got it working now - looks fine!

Can't get to recovery with buttons

So i have done the research and i can't find ne thing. i have tried the button combination volume up volume down and power. and it just takes me to the download mode screen. the only way i can get into recovery is if i use one of the apps. i'm using the tracfone version of the phone. also when i have my phone unhooked from everything and i have it turned off the battery shows up on the screen. its weird lol. i'm running jellybean on it.

Tracfone... you mean the 959G from Straight Talk? If so, then yes; there's an entire thread devoted to your device you'd be wise to read through before doing anything else to your phone.
Regarding the recovery method, you have to hold all 3 buttons at the same time until you see the Samsung logo.

Are you doing the three-finger-salute with the phone UNPLUGGED from a PC or power source?
for the i777, it's an important difference.
plugged in will take you to download mode,
unplugged will take you to recovery mode.

I'm not 100% sure. But if you get the right recovery Odin it to your phone. I just bricked my phone the same way. I'm on MK2. I tried Odin and the MK2 tar. But that didn't work. Now my phone says. Go to Kies recovery Have you tried holding down power/Home and volume down to see if u can get into download mode. If u can't. Then your battery might be dead. Phone won't charge if in bricked state.

It's time to watch the windows device manager to see what appears.
Windows/Break (hold down the windows key, then press break). For windows 7, then click on "Device Manager".
Open that and then plug in the phone and see what appears.

That's bad news - that's the low-level Qualcomm boot loader. You may be stuck having to find someone to fix it by JTAG'ing the device.
Google around for "Galaxy S4 QHSUSB_DLOAD" - there's nothing flashable for the I545 that I could find right away.
ya i just did some searching for that too looks like JTAG is the only way. found a place that will do it for $60 plus shipping. not to bad in the grand skeam of things compaired to buying a new phone thats cheap.
if anyone needs it heres the link..

One reason why many of us stress to take time to read and research before leaping into nodding your phone. It takes time but will save time and money in the long run.
