I started to donload the update a few days ago and it got stuck so I did a factory reset to my razr and now it is "up to date" but its version is only 2.3.6
I sent motorola support an email about that. Their response was "We do apologize for the inconvenience this is causing you. Availability of the ICS updates depends on the region where the phone was manufactured to be used, and your phone appears to be a Malaysian unit (IMEI ***************).
The ICS update for Malaysian units is being sent by batch. Initial Notification was sent to inform customer that ICS is going to be available. The next notification will be sent with the actual updated. When it becomes available, you may accept the update. Manually, you can download the update by going to Menu, Settings, About Phone, and select system updates (when update is available). We have checked on the system, and it is currently not available for your device. Please wait for the next notification."
By the way I'm from Israel so English isn't my native language...

Yes, I got the update last week too. Celcom.
Send your phone to service center.

Yup here too. On maxis. Got stuck on reboot. Press both volume rocker and on/off button. Works perfectly after.

OTA getting closer *proof*

I have the OTA leak v3 or whatever (2.36.605.1) and haven't been able to see copy protected apps....until today.
I ran the *#*#checkin#*#* code and went to the market. Copy protected apps like skype mobile are now there which must mean that Verizon has let the Market know that the build is an official build.
I think that only means the update should be coming out VERY soon. I am betting it will be within a few days.

If true this is good news. I've been riding leak 2 for a while and can't wait to see the phone reach a point where there is one platform for people to try to root from.
I'm hoping one of our great Devs will post the "Official" 2.1 once it has been released. I have the 2.1v3...so I don't think I'd get the notification to update, but I'd like to install the "Official" one.
Sorry for the NooB'ish questions. If somebody could answer all of these questions I would be very grateful. Thanks!
I am running the original 2.1 leak - (2.41.04.02.02).
* Will I be able to recieve the OTA update or is it only for people running 1.5?
* Will it automatically update my phone or will I be notified that there is an update available and then I have to manually update it?
* Because my phone is not rooted, is there a way to backup all my apps and other info not saved to the sdcard? If so, what program/app should I use for this?
Thanks again.

From what I know...(I could be wrong)...:
You will not get the notification to update if you are running a leak.
..so you will not get any notification saying it's out, other than here. the option to update to the official can only be done if someone who receives it, saves it and posts it here. (not certian how that is done, but they did it for all the G1 updates that I used)
..only way to back up apps that I know of for non rooted it Linda File manager or Astro File manager. But, you can just re-download them from market. I have installed every leak on my phone and just went to market and started downloading...purchases showed up for me. Either way, you have to re-install all of them again.
The thing is no one really knows. Depending on how they update the phone all of them (leak 3 and earlier) will get update notices, only leak 2 and earlier will get them, or only official builds will get notices. We'll find out starting tomorrow it sounds like.
Even if it doesn't come OTA to phones with the leaked versions, we should still be able to do it manually. Verizon's own testers are running the leaked versions, so I imagine they're going to make sure those people aren't "stuck."

What's a *#*#checkin#*#* code?
if you type that as though you are going to call it, it will run a program that checks for updates. The program normally runs at least every 24 hours but you can run it manually by typing it in.

Double post....sorry
So I typed in the*#*#checkin#*#* and I was given a notification "checkin:success" What does this mean (I don't think its the update because Settings->About->Check for updates still shows nothing)
Edit:

Ok, after awhile I noticed the checking...
OP is correct. I purchased Documents2go full version before I had upgraded to the leak and have been without it for awhile now. just checked my downloads area of market and it was finally there again. so looks like the documents saying it comes out tomorrow might be true.

I posted an email from customer service in the other thread but here's an exerpt about the OTA
". I'm pleased to let you know that we have recently approved the upgrade to Android 2.1 (Software Version ROM: 2.36.605.1/Radio: 2.42.00.04.12) for the Eris. This upgrade will be automatically sent to customers in stages beginning on May 11. Your phone will notify you when the upgrade is available to install. "
**obligatory n00b disclaimer**
I'm still running 1.5 with plans to root soon. If I snag the OTA will it hinder me rooting once 2.1 gets rooted for the Eris?

No.
Why did you think this?
he's probably talking about the 651.150.1 update which had those changes listed in changelog

That makes sense thanks. I would love to see the operator name disappear from the status bar - "Vodafone UK" takes up almost half of it!
Yes. I'm talking about the 651.150.1
Now My Razr is 651.150.1 but I want Official updete.
but I'll stay 651.150.1 If operator name does not disappear from the status bar.
i'm gonna stick with 651.150.1 too. the official update seems like a step back. at least from what i read in the changelog. yes, they added some apps but i'm not gonna loose those cool changes in 651.150.1 just over some apps.
on version numbers alone, the leaked update appears 'newer' for want of a better word.. Aside from Evernote, the official ota has less stuff in it. Wonder why the network provider name in the notification bar and black background features were pulled? Can anyone confirm whether the camera, wifi improvements etc in the official ota are also in 651.150.1 too?
Difficult to confirm without a changelog but I appear to have noticed with 651.150.1 wifi is working much better than it was as I had a few issues with the stock with wifi. Although I never used the camera much before updating so Couldn't comment on that
I also use the 651.150.1 and have better performance than before (651.73.23). I've just flashed the newer Radio "U_03.1C.85P" from 651.73.30 (the radio included in 651.150.1 is U_03.1C.83P). I believe this is where improvements in WiFi, calling and messaging mentioned in 651.73.30 changelog are related to.

AT&T Software Update Message on my GS2

So, I finally rooted my phone yesterday.
Then, today, I start getting full-screen messages from AT&T saying that there's a software update and they want me to connect to WiFi to download right now. There's only a "next" button and no "cancel" button.
Is anyone else getting this nag screen? I've heard mixed reviews about this update (I presume 2.3.6) and I also read that I'll lose root if I update.
So, how do I kill the nag screen for good? And, if I go forward with the update, will my frozen and layed-over apps (apps I've loaded on top of frozen apps) stay as-is? Or will all the frozen stuff revert back to stock versions?
I did the root method on 2.3.4 that doesn't affect the counter or give any visual notifications, and I understand that rooting in 2.3.6 isn't as easy to do, so I'd rather stick with what I have no rather than go through the upgrade process. But the nag-screen keeps bugging me all day long!
Any info appreciated.
Thx.
I'm in a similar situation - I actually DID the 2.3.6 update, had terrible battery life, spoke to a CSR who said that rooting (in order to flash the previous 2.3.4 official firmware) would NOT void the warranty of my phone (i777). I followed the guide in this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=18576627#post18576627
Perfection -got my phone back to reasonable battery life, etc. etc. Here's the snag: went into a Barnes and Noble today where my phone automatically connected to the AT&T wifi hotspot and now my phone wants to force me into this update again! Blast it all!
To address your concern about going forward with the update - I would highly recommend not doing so. My battery life dropped like a stone on the update - I'm not talking about a slightly perceived decrease, I'm talking about 2.5 hours dropping me 40%.
To remove the update request, delete or freeze device manager. Do this if you wish to remain on UCKH7.
If you accept the OTA update to UCKK6 while rooted you will retain root.
Right or wrong, I froze Device Management through TiBu.
Edit: Not fast enough!

Ok, I downloaded the update, but postponed installation for 8 hours. I will keep delaying until I find out exactly what this is.

It's the 2.3.6 update that has been talked about here for a while now. Don't update it.
I have also seen the new prompt today. This is actually different from the first one that I was seeing about 3 weeks ago that said there was a new update and the only button was 'OK', this new one has a OK or Postpone. I selected Postpone and then was asked for how long 1,2,4,8 hours.
I have done the same as others and frozen Device Manager, however I am wondering what else this feature does. I would like to know if this will effect any other parts of my phone or just stop the OTA updates.
I had done the stock root a few weeks ago and had never seen anything about updates. Then I was reading about modems and thought I'd give the UCKH7 because I might have better call quality over the UCKH6.
Two days later, I'm at work and notice that my phone is getting warm in my pocket. I took it out only to find it was downloading something... after a little investigating I figured out it was an update and later was given the option to postpone. Knowing I better check it out on XDA before doing anything I postponed and then ended up freezing it with TiBu.
I guess this is an update specific to the UCKH7 modem.....
No, not just modem update. It's the whole update called UCKK6. Do a search and there are multiple problems with this new ROM.
DON'T do it unless you LIKE worse battery life, non-working BT HID devices and other quirks (some ppl have problem with phone calls using the new modem).
AT&T is obviously push the update to everyone now instead of the batch updates.
Settings -> Applications -> Manage applications -> [All Tab] -> Device management -> Clear Data
That'll make it stop nagging you about the update until it goes out and checks again.
I have a rooted S2, and I 'checked for updates'
It said I can update my phone and the phone downloaded about 20 MB file by itself and asked for a restart to update the phone. I said yes, restarted the phone, but for some reason, it says, Update Failed.
You guys know the reason behind it?
Thank you
If you rooted and removed some bloatware, your update will likely fail. Why do you want to updat anyway after all the warnings?
You should have known that the minute you rooted your phone, you kiss good bye to official OTA updates. Sometime, it may work but most times it won't work.

You must be rooted.
The easiest way is to use Titanium Backup. If you don't have it, there is a free version as well as paid one. With the free version you can only delete, but with the paid version you can either delete or freeze any application. Install TiBu and then find device manager in the list.
If you want to do it manually, the file can be found in the system folder I believe. I don't remember exactly what it is called, however, and I don't have it on my phone to check.

No need to know the filename of the downloaded update. Simply clear the data on 'Device management' app will do.

Thank you. I've been looking for a way to stop the forced update reminders for a while.
It's insane that you can't stop this reminders easily and they are 'forcing' you to upgrade, specially when 2.3.6 seems to have so many issues as reported here and other forums.

As I said I don't get Update notifications. Such as WALKMAN, sketch, album updates. Notification option is checked in Update center-settings.
But when I open Update Center then notification comes out. So what is the problem?

Same problem here.
I always have to open update center and refresh manually.
Sony said somewhere they have some problems with update center (can't remember where did I read that).
Actually, that's not Sony problem but carriers. (again, their words)
Carriers did some changes in some countries and that broke update center - apparently something on lte support and baseband files.
I'm not buying that, I can't accept that as a reason because I'm having same problem on every firmware I tried (4.4.2)
But, when I think more about that....
I'm using DE or Global firmware but with my carrier ETC folder and files because I can't have lte without those changes...

I'd had updates before I got an update. Framework number of that update was 314(I had been already using that version)and it was only 3mb. I had opened a thread about it 2-3 days ago and I think you had responded it. After I installed this Update I couldn't get notifications.
By the way Yesterday album Update released and I updated, but notification didn't come.
Any solutions?

Google Pay Sending Money - UK

Apologies in advance if this is the wrong thread to create this...
Just update my Google Pay app and noticed a new option appearing under Settings 'Sending Money'
At the moment you can't go into it, when you press it nothing happens.
I know this is somewhat available in the UK but has to be done via the website.
Has anyone else got this and is this a sign of them slowly switching it on in UK?
Thanks
I also got this option a few days ago, but I also can't use it yet...
received an update to the app yesterday, still nothing, option is still there but can't go into it
Looks like the recent update removed it...oh well!
