Ive just noticed that whenever i needed to type something, the keyboard option in the notification bar always pop out. Then i downloaded carat to see what is causing battery drain on my phone and apparently, the ics keyboard is one of the battery hogs.. So is there anyway to disable the auto poping of the options in notification bar whenever you need to type something? I currently have chinese and english enabled. Or perhaps any identical keyboard buy doesnt abuse battery.. Thanks..

Does anyone know if it´s possible (and how) to disable the default battery indicator on the statusbar ???
I like some percentage number style on the status bar, so i´ve installed Battery Indicator Pro. But now i feel that´s no reason for having two batt indicators, so will be nice if i can disable the default one, to left only the B.Indicator Pro, wich also shows a little battery icon plus the number percentage into it.

good question, i did exactly the same and i gave up to discover how to eliminate the default indicator...anybody knows a way?
Pheeewww... I´m not sure if we can block the stock battery app on the phone boot/startup (rooted phone), but i´m not sure if that can cause some kind of freeze, or even malfunctioning of the battery indicator pro (or other battery application installed). Even if that can do the trick, i know it´s not the best way.
Not seen this problem before
i have handcent as my default sms app which is alot better then the stock one.
When i get a sms i have the pop up enabled (after you unlock the handset)...but not to show the keyboard
This works ok but when i press the white square to reply - the text you received does not move to the top of the screen so you cant see what your typing or you cant press send as there hidden by the keyboard. The only way you can see that is when you have finished is to press the back button (that closes the keyboard) and then you can also press the send button.
If i have the keboard to pop up automatically when i get a txt....i only see the top line of writing / send button!!
Have i missed out a setting somewhere? or is anyone else getting this problem?
I've experienced this too. It happens the majority of the time but occasionally it works like it should not sure why it does this though. I have the Swype keyboard as my default, maybe that has something to do with it?
i have found if i have something running in the back ground like "andexplorer" it works perfect...i have the htc keyboard installed.
Might try using the stock one and see what that does??

You may be on to something about the notification bar being hidden. I always have it hidden and am using ADW launcher. I'll check if it works with the bar showing and will post back here.

Yeah, that's what I've been doing. It's just kind of annoying to have to do that every time. To me, it looks better to have the notification bar hidden. Oh well, just have to deal with it. Thanks again for your help.
I would suggest to notify Handcent developer about this bug, this would eventually solve the problem
Is it possible to get the battery charge level to always display on the lockscreen? It shows up only when the battery is low.
I'm rooted and using the latest ViperMOD.
Its in my Taskbar.
Mine too, but tiny and lacking in detail. I'd prefer a larger one that shows the exact % or something. I think the stock AOSP lockscreen does this.
I read somewhere there should be some lockscreen personalization options under Settings -> Personalize, but that just closes the settings program for me for some reason. I don't know if this option exists there.
Hi,
This is maybe (probably) a really stupid question.....well two....
First time with ICS, but with android since 1.6....
Where have my notifications bar gone? at the top... to now see what email/text/missed calls/etc must I really drag the bar down just to see? all there is, is a minus symbol box thing.
But I cant find a setting to do it the "old" way with them sitting there to be seen without using the drop down box., or isnt there an option? with lcs?
Secondly the speaker works fine, but despite turning everything up in the sounds option im not getting any sound notifications for email or text messages.... yes its not on silent is there a menu ive lost in transit?
/facepalm
Can't get notifications from Facebook, Words With Friends, Facebook Messenger and other apps. No badge notifications or alerts. And I get Facebook Messenger notifications at the top of the screen with every text sent or recorded WHILE USING FACEBOOK MESSENGER! Anyone else having notification issues?
I texted with Samsung tech support (big mistake!) and they said that it was a hardware issue and to return the S9+ to Verizon for replacement. This makes no sense to me. Sounds like a software issue. Thoughts?
what launcher are you using?
if stock Samsung launcher, pinch in on the screen and go to settings... you'll find that notification badges have to be turned on there separately for some annoying reason
if any other launcher, make sure you've given it notification access under accessability so the launcher can read notifications and give you the correct 'badge' for the icon
I heard that for some, the battery optimization might be running too aggressively. Try going into battery usage, settings (3 dots), then battery optimization, then select to show all apps, then try unselecting the apps your having problems with. Give it a run for a few days to see if that helps.
I am using Samsung's launcher. Spent 2 hours on the phone with them. Tried everything. Nothing works. May have to do a factory reset
It's software issues. I got the same problem.

Tried your suggestion. So far, no dice.
Yeah I am looking toward a factory reset too. Notification issue but different. no Edge Lighting alerts.
I have tried everything I can think of to get Edge Lighting Notifications to work. After a week with this phone I am yet to see one. Samsung Experience Home. Notifications on for everything. No apps have Optimise battery usage. All I get is a notification tone, an icon on the AOD and a status bar icon. But for me Edge Lighting Notifications are totally MIA!
So I eventually got some Edge Lighting alerts to work. Primarily by going into each and every app that I awn the alerts from and setting "Do not disturb custom exception" to On within it Notification area. PITA to have to do this in each app when it should be settable from the system notification area one would think. Now have it working for Whatsapp, Skype and Samsung Messaging.
But for love or money I cannot get it to work for GMail. Anyone else got Edge Lighting alerts working with GMAIL. Setting "Do not disturb custom exception" does not do it.
