WebOS Doctor no longer available? - TouchPad General

Hi, I'm following this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1426244&page=10
to wipe my Touchpad and return it to 100% stock but I've run into a roadblock. It seems that every link to WebOS Doctor on HP's site (the palm.cdnetworks one) is dead. I need a copy of WebOS Doctor 3.0.0, anyone have a mirror? I spent the last half hour searching for one to no avail.
Thank you.

Go over to webos nation, search for webos doctor. You'll have to sign in to your profile, once you do you can download the appropriate doctor for your device. It's working, I just tried it.

Can you be more specific where you found the link? I am having the same issue as the OP. If you could provide a direct link, that'd be great.
I only found a link to WebOS internals Wiki list which leads me to the cdnetworks.net (which I can't seem to access either).

http://www.webos-internals.org/wiki/Webos_Doctor_Versions#Wifi_Only

http://ws.hpwebos.com/webosdoctor/serialnumberinitial.htm
http://www.webos-internals.org/wiki/WebOS_Doctor_Versions

Can you get the webos-internals dot org links to work? When I click on the links to cdnetworks dot net, they don't work.
I will try the hpwebos dot com link, that seems to be available to me.
Thanks!

As I said in my first post, none of the official download links for WebOS Doctor are working. I specifically need 3.0.0, which when clicked says website not available. It seems as though HP has taken them all offline.

This will only give you 3.0.5. I need 3.0.0 because it's the only one that will repartition.

Alpha 2.1 flashed, missing Marketplace completely

FINALLY I got 2.1 installed after my fights with windows 7. Tried it from a friends old XP box and it worked right off the bat.
Only issue is now I do not have any marketplace. I see posts about others missing certain apps, but I have no marketplace icon anywhere. Wondering what I can do to get it loaded.
I flashed update-cm-7.1.0-tenderloin-marketfix-Flemmard thinking that would fix it but no luck.
Thanks
Did you flash cm7 gapps also,if not google it and install then you should be good to go.
Sent from my synergized criffvo
did you log in to a google account it will not show up till you do so. you have to skip it the first time around connect to wifi then go to / setting account and sync / add account
you have to flash the gapps zip or else you won't get any google apps.
Go to this thread where it's all explained in fine detail and after CWM installing it'll be all set

Thanks, was able to get it loaded. Wasn't in the diy I followed.

That's helpful....
Walkthrough didn't have it mentioned (on any of them that I looked at) and a search for marketplace didn't reveal anything either......

I am beyond frustration!

I have read through all the previous posts, and still can't sideload any apps. The apk downloads into "My Files>Downloads", but when I try to open them the NT says the file is not in an acceptable format. I even followed the phone trick - downloaded to my smartphone and snatched the .apk file in backups through astro file manager. Man oh man, nothing will work! Can anyone help?
did you check the box to install from unkown sources (or whatever it's called)
I would factory reset and try again... did you ever root it or stock?
Did you download and install Go Launcher first?
I am not rooted. To factory reset, do I Erase and Deactivate straight from the nook? I'm thinking back to my old RCA Reb 100 days - and at one point, you couldn't re-register the darn things. I remember reading on this forum a one-step process to return to stock. Maybe I should find that thread again.
Are you trying to open it via the notification bar (arrows in the bottom left corner) or via the Library file browser? It only works via the notification bar for me.

You need to download "Appmenu", enable unknown apk source installations and then you will be able to side load. Fyi that apk is on this forum.
I've tried opening it both ways. I've also emailed myself an apk file and tried to open the attachment, but the attachment comes through with an unknown file type. And then NT says it's not in an acceptable format. grrrrrrrrrrrr.-
So when you use the nooks default browser to download an .apk....you click at the bottom to run it and the settings menu doesnt load??

Thank you, thank you. The factory reset worked and I'm on my way! You guys are SO cool!

The problem was that you used the wrong app installer the first time you tried to sideload. This forever makes the nook unable to sideload apps. after this happens you must factory restore and only use the bottom app launcher.

Touchpad ACME Uninstaller

I just uninstalled Android through ACME Uninstaller and I full erased my touchpad + i web os doctored it. Is the uninstaller supposed to boot up every time i restart my touchpad? because everytime i shut it down or restart it, some commands pop up and i believe it is the uninstaller but i don't know what else it could be. I deleted everything that should've been deleted also.
Is this normal for WebOS to boot with those commands all the time? The code flashes by for a minute and then it loads normally. I am pretty sure i deleted everything i could

Once installed you should only see moboot menu (Options to boot into webos, recovery, cyanogen etc) initially with cyanogenmod being the default selected.
If this is not what your reffering to i would try wiping the cache, dalvik and factory reset then reflashing the ROM. You should also check the MD5 of the download to confirm you have a good file
Hope this helps
thats not what im referring to. I have uninstalled all of android by utilizing the uninstaller. But what happens is the uninstaller keeps running every time i do a device restart for the touchpad or i turn it off and then on. I don't know if that is normal for it to do that.

I actually acmeuninstalled last night and I'm not seeing the "code" your speaking of, maybe if you get what it says it would be more help, get a picture or video. But if your touchpad is running fine I wouldn't worry to much since you can always webdoctor it back to life if the worst happens.

I have done the same and I did not see any lines of code. A picture or video would help. Or tell us what it says when it boots up

You didn't put the uninstaller on the touchpad itself did you? It's supposed to set in the same Palm file on your computer as Acmeinstaller and is used the same way.

i did it to start fresh with xron's latest build. Leo is magical with CM7 port.
i can barely read the commands its running but it seems like its reverting the touchpad back to pre android settings. It runs by the code for 30 seconds and then it loads webos.
I saw some of them as setting the cpu speed, the codec sample rate, deleting files that aren't even on my touchpad. I've doctored and full erase yet it persists. Hm..
Did you try to install ACME again?

what picture do see on top, if its penguins then it android, if its planes then its webos
i don't see any planes or android but i do see that first its running a set of commands to boot into webos and then logging into webos. the HP logo shows up for a split second before them and then after the commands the HP logo shows up once more and loads like normal.

[Q] Getting back to WebOS after Android Port

I'm considering putting the CM9 ICS Android port on my WebOS HP Touchpad. However, before I do this, I'm trying to find out how can I put the touchpad in its original, factory installed condition if the Android port doesn't work out properly.
Thanks.

You will have a dual boot option to either of the original os's.
Read the forum before you post , most of the time, the answer is there.
It's actually a little complicated. The gist of it is that you may have to use webOS doctor in order to eliminate the Android installs.

WebosDoctor will NOT remove any Android installs.
http://rootzwiki.com/topic/8732-vid...anogenmod-android-alpha-from-the-hp-touchpad/
or just google it
There's actually a good thread on that here in the General Forum, on Page 2.
Or, I'll link it to you here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1426244
Basically, it walks you through removing the CM partitions, resetting the default ones to 3.0.0, then you can upgrade to 3.0.4 (or 3.0.5 like I did), and reinstall Android that way.
Hope it helps you, mate !

[Q] "Download Unsuccessful"

I remember having this issue since ICS and on multiple devices running different ROMs.
What gives? I know the solution is to clear out the Download history and it still works. Just annoying that I have to do that... Does Google know about this issue??
You can also try using a browser like Opera, that helps me. But yeah it really is annoying it also happens to me both on GB and ICS

To be able to download certain files, you must first have an application that can run the file. If you don't have the ablity to run the file it will refuse to download, giving the download unsuccessful message.
What you say may be true. But the files I download are definitely openable. Yet they still don't download successfully until after multiple attempts or clearing the cache.

Hello everyone -- First post
I don't know if this will help, but i tell you what i experienced yesterday. I have both a HP Touchpad 32GB Wifi only and a Samsung Fascinate. I have the problem with both of them for months now. I can install anything i want from Google Play, but can not down load any other files, both from emails and websites. I can write to it with Window XP Pro machine.
Two days ago i was messing around with my Touchpad dual boot WebOS/CM7 and wreck it. Wouldn't reboot, couldn't run WebOS doctor on it or any thing. I thought it was bricked. Then i ran across a forum how to delete the volume manually and recreate them. Then install back to factory original.
Last night i got it back to 3.0.5 and installed CM9 tenderloin nightly 20121028 dual boot. First think i did was go to a website to down load a PDF file to see if this fix my download problem. File downloaded, i tried opening it, said no file associate. Jump into Google Market , installed reader, open the file, no problem. I started checking with ROM Manager for any nightly updates. There was one and i started downloading it, and moved on to installing Titanium Backup plus Root. Few minutes after dubbing around, checking CM9.I noticed that it had a download error. SO i jumped on to another website to download another file. Immediately <Untitled> Download Unsuccessful. Here we go again. Switch over to Google Market, Titanium Backup plus Root finished installing.
I remove it and root. Check to see if it fixed the problem. NOPE! still no downloading. This morning at work during break, I wiped CM9 out with ACMEUnistaller, and started over. Same install as before. No problem downloading any files so far, but i have not reinstalled Titanium Backup plus Root. I will install it tonight just to be sure and redo my Samsung Fascinate to see if i can reproduces the same results there with CM10.
Can someone else that is having the same problem confirm with their system and see if they get same result?
Not so
Sorry guys, I just reinstalled Titanium Backup plus and can not repeat it. I'll keep checking with everything that I install and any settings I change
You may have better luck with the Touchpad forum.

Its not just my touchpad that is having the same issue. My Samsung fascinate have the issue and it has CM10 nightly. I've search many forum site for this problem. There are many other that are having the issue with all different devices and ROM's. I
I'm currently trying to repeat on touchpad because if i mess this unit up it won't be a big deal for me. I have got it down 25 minutes or ever less removing the CM and reload it. Not so fast for me on the Samsung. So far unsuccessful repeating it. Going to try repairing Fascinate and on it.
You think this should be moved to another thread? If so please let me know.
Thanks in advance
FYI, if you change the name of the original Download folder to, say Download_old, then try the download again, it will create a new folder and download to that one. weirdly, the folder permissions are exactly the same for both folders after (rwxrwxr-x)
