I don't know how and why, but yesterday out of nowhrere, I noticed that the auto-rotate feature on my tablet was not working. I tried turning it off and back on, restarting, flashing a different rom, flashing back the stock rom via odin, but it's still the same
Any idea why this is happening?

So what you mean is that I should clean everything in the android recovery, before flashing the stock rom via Odin?
Yes .......or go back to stock and flash again

Just got a GSIII today and have been trying some JB ROMS out, but so far I have not been able to get WiFi working at all with any of them.
I have tried Vanilla RootBox, LiquidJB and SuperNexus but whilst I can see my WiFi AP on all of them and can enter my password all I get is the "Connecting..." message for ages before it gives up?
WiFi works fine on the stock ROM, and there are no obvious settings on the WiFi router itself which would be causing this.
Any advice appreciated!

Thanks, I just spotted a couple of threads mentioning this.
Couple of questions, when you say flash back to stock does that mean through CWM Recovery, or some other way? Does it have to be a straight flash to a downloaded stock ROM or am I able to just "restore" the backup I made?
Thanks again!

Cool, so I've got Odin (I believe that's what I used to root the phone?) Is there a specific .zip I need to flash back to? Also do I need to boot back in to the stock ROM or just stick JB straight back on again?
Please note, when you have flashed back to ics you need to then set up phone and connect to Wi-Fi once, then proceed to flash jb

Excellent. Do I need to download a specific "Stock ICS" ROM to do this? Any pointers as to where I can find this?
Thanks for the help people
I seem to remember I just flashed an old wannamlite Rom in cwm
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1646610
These ones. (4.0.4)
Or try http://fus.nanzen.se/
This is if you want to find the original firmware your phone came with.
I'm still not having much luck with this.
Should I be wiping before I flash back to ICS, and then again before back to JB?
I think a wipe before flashing ICS is enough.
But watch the youtube video on the first post on :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1646610
It pretty much explains every part of returning to stock ICS. From there it is just reflashing JB with odin and wifi should work.
Hmm, still not having much luck. I've installed my JB ROM, wiped, gone back to stock ICS using the ROM from the link provided above in ODNI.
But now when I try to reboot in to recovery to re-flash my JB ROM I seem to get a different version of recovery from what I had before and it fails during verification when I try to flash the .zip.
Any advice welcome!
I'm having the same problem here.
BUT, even flasing stock ICS and flasing a custom JB ROM after that does not solve the issue.
Here is what I did in what order. Maybe I'm missing some essential point or whatever:
- full wipe in cwm recovery
- flash stock ICS via Odin (I9300XXBLH3_I9300DBTBLH4_I9300XXLH1_HOME.tar)
- reboot and test WiFi. WiFi works fine! Firmware is 4.0.4
- flash CF-Root-SGS3-v6.4 to gain root again
- boot into CWM Recovery, format /preload (to get rid of apps installing themselves on boot)
- another full wipe
- install zip from sdcard (tried AOKP JB build 4 for i9300 and ParanoidAndroid v2.22)
same old ****! WiFi not conecting!
I would apeciatie any help to solve this problem for me. Aparently reverting to stock ICS has solved this for others but I dont get what I'm donig wrong her...
try some router side adjustments

you need to root again flashing 'CF-Root' via Odin to get CWM recovery. I guess.

that does not seem right. My phone connects just fine with any ICS based ROM. It even conects with JB ROM Android Revolution HD.

Okay so I Re-rooted with CF-Root through ODIN and have got CWM recover back, but now when I re-flash JB I still get the same problems, try to connect to WiFi and it just sits there saying "Connecting..." and then gives up!
Is there a specific set of steps for doing this? I connected to WiFi whilst back on the Stock ICS ROM (LG8) and that worked fine, I have tried various combinations of wiping/not wiping at each stage in between JB->ICS->JB with no luck. Do I need a particular Stock ROM to go back to, do I have to use a specific version of ODIN/CF-Root/CWM?
Very annoying as everything else about the Jelly Bean ROMS seems perfect!
Has anyone worked out why JB ROMS are doing this?
I have the same problem
It seems to work for some people to go back to ICS and then flash JB ROMs, but somehow it does not work for us..
I'm trying an old stock ICS now and the will flash cm10. lets see if that helps
I've downloaded a selection of stock and custom ICS roms to try with the process, hopefully something will do the trick!
Also I don't think changing router settings can have anything to do with this as it works fine for every other device I own, including a different handset running JB. However out of curiosity I spent last night playing with all the settings to see if anything would help. It didn't
U said u flashed back to stock.... In that case u lost cwm then ur gonna hafto re flash cwm

Good news! I found a solution!!
use newest siyah kernel and wifi should connect
so, I was trying to update the OS on my Galaxy S3, it was rooted, so I couldnt just update, I had the stock rom on, and wanted to go back and remove the root, but im an idiot, and deleted everything, lost the backups too.
so now my phone has nothing. going into recovery goes to team win recovery project v2.3.3.1. even when its plugged into my computer, it wont allow me to access the sd card.
ANYONE, have any ideas on how I can get the stock rom onto it?

The thing is that you need to re-flash Sammy Stock 4.1.2 ROM thru Odin and when the phone boots up, you can go into recovery and factory reset your phone to stock settings and UI. Simple as that!
Don't forget to wipe cache also so nothing weird happens with your S3!

Teaches how to get back on stock ROM.
The tutorial is for fixing a soft bricked S3 but the instructions are how to get back to stock.

Hi, i Think i soft bricked my sgh-i717. i can start the phone but it will not pass the samsung logo. i can not get into recovery mode and when i try to get into reocvery mode it just viberates and shuts off. i can get into download mode but it wont stay in download mode and shuts off and viberates.
this all started by me wanting to change roms. ive frist started by flashing to Liquid-JB-v2.0-RC7-quincyatt using cwm. it started to lag so i decided to switch roms. i factory wiped and used darkside super wipe and then flashed to Padawan Jelly Bean ROM + Phase Kernel using cwm. it didnt work at frist. i forgot to back up my stock and liquid jelly bean rom. so i couldnt go back. :/ so, i found a stock rom ( Android 4.0.3 IML74K.UCLD3) and installed it using odin. after installing the stock rom. i used cwm recovery to make a back up of the stock rom and then flashed to the padawan jelly bean rom using cwm. the rom was messing up so i went back into recovery mode and restored the stock rom. when i go try to restart the phone that's when the problems start to occur.. i hope this enough for somebody to help me..

Can you go back to the thread you started, put [SOLVED] in the title
Then in the op describe how you fixed it or better yet post a link here?
I know the answer is here somewhere but I really need someone to guide me...
I bought a Galaxy S3 yesterday and it´s not my first. It came with WanamLite. I know that WanamLite is a good ROM but the phone was laggy as syrup... Last night I flashed the latest leaked 4.2.2 Samsung firmware but I really feel it´s still laggy... as soon as I do two different things in ot it lags like he**.
Now I wanna try to restore EVERYTHING to it´s factory state... kernel, firmware... EVERYTHING! I want to be able to update this phone the usual way... either KIES or OTA. As of now I just get a message that the firmware has been changed and that the phone is not supported.
So... can someone please give me directions to fully restore the phone to it´s original state?
Thanx guys!
first go to recovery and do a wipe data/factory reset and cache and on advanced wipe dalvik cache then go to mounts and storage and format everything there
then go to download mode and flash a stock Rom
So if I do that the custom recovery, root and Everything else will be as "out of the box"?
Isnt it best to use ODIN to flash Stock ROM?
Usually Stock Rom has stock recovery in it.
So if u flash with a stock rom
Then everything will be back to normal.
It is optional to use Triangle Away.
Use it only if u need to rest ur binary count

yes everything will be deleted and back to stock but your binary counter will not be back to 0 for that you will need triangle away for waranty purposes which is useless since you bought your phone second hand
yes odin is the best choice but you need to go to download mode so odin can idintify your phone you can't flash a Rom on home screen LOL
Run triangle away

Think its the easiest and best way to get back to stock..
-) Check out the latest Firmware for your region on sammobile.com,
-) backup your data / SMS etc if you would,
-) reset the counter with triangle away,
-) flash the downloaded Firmware with Odin and last do a factory reset
Yeah. Just check the flash counter in download mode first. Bootloaders since 4.1.1 have been increasing back to 1 after reboot so you need to be on a stock recovery and kernel to reset without going back to 1 .
Or you have to prevent triangle away from rebooting after the reset. Pull the battery and go straight to download mode

Everything Went fine... counter restored, and Stock flashed.
First I was worried that the phone had gotten the "Sudden Death" due to the constant freezing... AND it has the stupid chip that causes the darn thing... but after a reset of the phone it works just fine!
