Gotta love it!

Aww man, it is still running on the old 2.6.39.4 kernel. I wonder if they back ported the mmc i/o drivers from the 3.1.x kernel.

This is the same guy that gave us cm9 on prime so this should be good!

I'm wandering if the web browser any faster on Jellybean for the prime.

Wake me when we ASUS/NVIDIA have caught up to the mainline kernel. Hopefully it's soon, because a few more Application Not Responding messages on this thing and I might just smash it.

have you not unlocked and flashed a custom ROM? Apparently, doing that gets rid of a lot of the ANR problems.

I don't know why they are showing that old kernel when the Nexus 7 has the 3.1.10. JB with the 2.6.39 kernel on the Prime would be pretty much worthless to me.

the 3.x.x.x kernel isn't stable we've been through this already with CM9 it was on there for a few builds and was so unstable. Won't affect JB.

Not really, as long as the kernel made by Asus (the one we are currently running) is tweaked to run ICS well... Of course, on the other hand, when Asus manages to update the kernel, a lot of crap may be set right and we may have some better experience and performance...

Jelly Bean will be a tablet OS like Honeycomb :/
Like, for honeycomb they shifted to Motorola [XOOM], for this too, i dont think Samsung's gonna be ''the one'', still no updte on that.
It will basically run on tablets AND PC's. Dual Boot being the main feature; AndroidOS and Chrome OS. So expect it to be running on really powerful tabs/PC's/maybe even quadcore phones.

We dint even get froyo officially, lol. If Google releases jelly beans code, maybe the devs wwill make a rom for us. But Google did not release source codes for honeycomb (not until ics's code was released) so they might not release it for jelly bean, too.

Wow, so fast!
But i think right now i am more than happy to be waiting out for a final ICS rom. The current paul-xxx rom on cm9 running ICS is really smooth, i think the final version of that rom is gonna be legendary.
Really exciting times on android as well as for the mini pro users too !!
too fast, problably as said here is for tablet and not for smartphone, that why in 2Q
It was the same with 2.3 an 3.0 there were just 3 monzh between them
And ICS was supposed to merge tablets and smartphones...

Google release ICS, the problem are manufactured OEM that are not able to personalize ICS for all the hardware, in your case Sony.
We have only 2 possibility:
Wait OEM update and need some time, and is not secure your phone is updated
Use a custom rom via XDA
I really dont like thif fu***** ics and will hate jelly bean

If it can be modded to minis and bring benefits, why not try?
However I think that's too little time between the android's OS. And that restriction from OEMs, Sony in my case, almost made me regret having bought my mini, thank God XDA exists!
The host for jellybean is HTC and google..i think

CM9 is a fork of the android 4.0.3 operating system. So yes, it's ICS, derived from AOSP, with no Sense UI garbage.
http://bit.ly/zAuapn
This is probably the most exciting news I've seen on here in a while. Now the real question is, is CM9 for the amaze coming out before HTC send out their ics update for us? I'd be curious to see what HTC does for us, but if it comes out after CM9, then there's no way I'd even think of trying it out.
Very Nice... Just came from the Evo3D on Sprint... Looking forward to this.
Thanks for this post. I've been pretty infrequent here lately due to the lack of S-OFF and all of the variations of Sense based ROMs and all the ICS-themed ones. I looked for xboarder's ICS ROM thread a while back but that looks like it was deleted so i thought there was no more progress. Faith has been restored!
This is pretty awesome. Cant wait to give it a shot.

This would be interesting, assuming CM9 is stable, I would definitely use it as a daily, even without a camera/BT/NFC/etc. However, I can imagine that the official release will be running on a 3.x kernel, as where I'm SURE that Max is using a 2.6.x kernel right now.... This all being said, I'm sure having the kernel source to the official release when available will help bring a 3.x kernel to the Amaze.
TL;DR
Assuming it's stable on a 2.6.x kernel, and most things work, I'd stick with CM9 regardless.
If it's (CM9) lacking a ton of hardware features, I could see running the HTC build till CM9 hardware support catches up.
Also, a CM9 alpha WILL be available before HTC releases/leaks anything, that is almost guaranteed.

It's only a matter of time

I find it funny that before ICS came out everyone was "Ohh, I can't wait, it's going to be so great, Yea Yea Yea"
I had no problem with Honeycomb and rather enjoyed it to be honest.
Now it's the same thing with JB
I've dug every Android version from 2.1 to now. Each has their problems and strengths. I do enjoy getting the latest versions and ICS is starting getting old to me so any update will do. I don't think JB is going to be much of a difference in appearance but hope the performance is better that ICS. I can live with ICS if Asus never gives the Prime JB though.
I really would like to see a complete jump to Android 5.0 not these incremental baby steps.
Just my observations and opinion.

Well, if this is real, both Player's will be set for awhile, as the 4.0 CAN compile and boot venturi sources (with some very small modifications). This would mean that the 4.0 would just need a modded kernel before we could use JB, so we would be about a week behind you guys. After that who knows, maybe both teams can join with a shared source, and we can work on making android better...together.

The thing is, it's Gingerbread with it's horrible ram management that is causing the low ram to be thinned out as much as it is right now. ICS and JB has much better ram management than any Android os ever. In actuality - the upgrade to ICS and JB would work out for all of us - while ram is still low, it won't deplete as bad or as fast as Gingerbread.

This is completely true. I tried playing MEI (mass effect infiltrator) a few days ago on ICS, and the difference is unbelievable. On GB, it would freeze and stutter horribly, and VERY quickly get to an OOM condition and I would have to reboot my player. On ICS, it plays beautifully. It's smooth, playable, and actually fun! I believe ICS/JB is the windfall this player's been waiting for to be usable, and enjoyable.

[Q] Best Samsung Player 5 {rooted} Gingerbread ROM

I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction to a download link for the best and most complete and rooted Gingerbread ROM for the Samsung Galaxy 5.0 Player.
The one I am using was one that I believe someone used Superclick and repackaged from the stock Gingerbread OS that originally came with the device. It appears to me that it has some stability issues since it gets stuck with access files and will not boot up. I use clockword mod to restore from a good backup. As far as I can tell, the data area is where the problem is, but I can't get anymore granular than that. If I reboot half a dozen times, one of the boots will work correctly. The device will exhibit no problems whatsoever until the next power off/on.When that happens, I get frozen at the click to unlock screen.
I'd like to use Clockwork Mod to install the latest and greatest rooted Gingerbread ROM and hopefully this "corruption" issue will be resolved...maybe.
I'm also open to any other ideas.
