Sandisk 64gb micro SD? - Galaxy S III Q&A, (US Carriers)

Card just came but will not mount in they phone. It trys mounting but goes directly to saying card safe to remove and I can't access it

Are you using CWM with CM9? It won't recognize cards formatted in exFAT.

No using protekk stock debloated with faux kernel. Wonder if its kernel related?

Turns out faux kernel was my problem. Switched to adama kernel and it recognized it instantly.

CWM 6.0.1.2 External SD Issue

Been searching but cannot find a clear cut answer. I apologize if I simply missed it.
I just received my Sandisk 64gb SDXC card, and cwm cannot mount or see the card.
Any solutions?
It doesn't support exFAT cards, apparently. Since your card is a 64GB one, it's likely Sandisk formatted it as exFAT by default. You can format it as FAT32, but you're then subject to the restrictions of FAT32.
If you do want to keep it as exFat, gokhanmoral's Siyah kernel now has a CWM 6.0.1.4 recovery that supports exFAT, although a new kernel + recovery is quite a big step.
Siyah 1.7beta2 with Recovery now support exfat. your card should be fine with it

[Q] External sd card problem after aokp flash

So I recently rooted my Verizon Note II, rooted with casual and twrp. I flashed the milestone version of aokp and for some reason cannot mount my external sd card. I get an error message that says "sd card is blank or has an unsupported filesystem". The sd card was working fine on my rooted phone before flashing aokp. Any ideas?

Its my understanding some Roms dont support exFat, a file system format used by SD Cards. you should try backing up the data and then formatting it to fat32.

thanks for the advice. It seems like aokp can reformat the card itself, but I'm a little afraid to let it try. I was also just reading about using siyah kernal and another thing called vold-exfat that lets you use an exfat formatted card. I think I'm gonna do one of these two things but it seems easiest to let aokp reformat my card if it will actually reformat my 64gb sd to fat32. I haven't been able to find out what it will reformat to though... very confusing

It won't reformat a 64GB card right. Download something likr EaseUS or another formatting tool. There is one that is posted on XDA quite a bit but for the life of me I can't remember its name.

[Q] Can't Mount External SD Card (64GB) in Recovery?

I am having some very weird issues with my SD card. I had a Samsung 64GB SD card that was behaving normally. I was actually able to see items in the SD card while in recovery. However, it was not allowing me to install any ROMs from it (they would just immediately fail). After that, it would not longer mount in Recovery. It would still show up on the computer when using MTP, but something happened and it got corrupted. I tried everything to bring it back to life, but nothing I found worked.
I then bought another 64GB SD card, this time a SanDisk. It too can be seen through MTP, but the SD card won't allow me to mount it in Recovery at all.
The only way I can flash ROMs is by using the internal SD card. That doesn't bother me, but I wonder if why this is happening. I suspect it has something to do with being a 64GB card...
Any help would be much appreciated!
If you have the SD card formatted exfat and you are using clockworkmod for recovery that would be the reason.
CWM recovery won't read exfat.

Had a feeling it might be that. I'll switch to another and give it a shot.
Any reason why it wouldn't mount while in a custom ROM? I'm using LiquidSmooth right now and it won't allow the SD card to mount. Just doesn't see it for whatever reason...

That would be kernel dependent.

There are a lot of kernels out there, find one that is compatible with exfat and you will solve that problem.
I have had good luck with faux kernel myself.

Your problem is not kernel or ROM based, but as noted, it is Custom Recovery Based. Due to legal resons, they cannot support ExFAT and I have tried NTFS. Use EASEUS PARTITION MANAGER TO FORMAT INTO FAT32 THEN RECOVERY WILL RECOGNIZE 64GB SANDISK SD CARD!!!! PLEASE HIT THANKS IF I SOLVED YOUR PROBLEM
M919
CM.10.1
ChronicKernel --- THANKS CK for the only AOSP kernel i could find that worked with CM!(Everything else was TW) Fast charge should be standerd in custom rom kernels......

[Q] No mapping for SD cards

I rooted my GSII 4.0.4 with the Siyah 3.4.2 kernel. It went OK but when I try plugging the device into my PC again, the drivers install but I don't get a mapping for the SD card. I'm trying to access the SD card to flash the SuperNexus rom to it. Any idea what might be preventing the SD storage from mapping?
I resolved this myself. I took out my external SD card and plugged it into my PC with a SD to USB adapter and copied the Siyah 4.3.3 kernel for I777 devices to it. Then I booted into Clockwork Mod recovery and flashed the 4.3.3 kernel. It gets detected fine now.

TWRP can't write to ext. SD

TiBu is fine with ext. SD, as is Total Commander file transfer. The 64 gb card used to work fine with TWRP, as did 2 other SD cards. Now, with TWRP 2.8.5.0 and 2.8.5.1 I can't use them to nandroid. I have to use USB via Stickmount. I tried going back to TWRP 2.8.3.0 using the TWRP install function from internal storage but same problem. Cards are formatted to FAT32. I'm running the latest SkyDragon Rom and kernel. Tried going back to 2.9.4 kernel and then 12B stock kernel. No help. When I try to do a nandroid to the ext. SD it fails with the message that it can't write to external SD. The card is writable except to TWRP. Anyone know how to fix this?
I have had the same problem with my VS985 and Sandisk ultra 64gb card, I reformat and it works for a couple days and then it isn't recognized by phone at all either inserted into phone, otg/stickmount, or in TWRP 2.5.8.1/2.5.3.0 via otg or in phone. I went back to my Sandisk 32gb and havent have an issue since. For whatever reason the G3 just doesn't like 64gb cards- I've read the multiple threads on this issue and the end result is the same- just stick with a 32gb...
i have been using a 64g sandisk always, never had an issue.
My problem is not with the SD card (I don't think) because it is recognized by every app I use it for except TWRP. The card used to work with TWRP also but I can't get TWRP to see it now.
It WAS the SD card that TWRP didn't like. New 64 GB card solved problem. I still don't know how the old SD could stop being recognized by one app and still be OK for everything else but it happened.
