Nook Tablet 1.4.3 Allows Keyboards - Barnes & Noble Nook Tablet

One has to root the device to get to the Google Play Store but once there I installed SwiftKey all ready to copy the files to the system directory only to find, I didn't have to!
Additionally, I don't appear to need to copy the launcher app I am using (ADW Launcher Ex) to the systen/app directory either to get widgets to reload after reboot correctly.
The SystemUI.apk and framework_res.apk files are significantly larger and using the hacks for the status bar alterations cause minor issues elsewhere (with text mainly).
I wonder if it is possible that Barnes and Noble will soon add custom keyboards to the Nook Shop?

I am so sorry, I didn't mean to screw that up.

Fonts for CM7 rooted NC

I am not sure if this is the right area or not, but I am trying to figure how to change the font on my nook. Mostly, I really do not like the font when surfing with Opera. It is my understanding that Opera uses whatever font is the default of the NC. So, is there a way to download more fonts so I can find one I like better? I frequent a lot of forums, so I read a lot of text on the web.

Just look online for fonts, .ttf files.
4shared, etc.
I've been using Root System Font Installer (https://market.android.com/details?id=com.canvs2321.font_installer&feature=search_result). There are close to 300 fonts, with a really easy to use UI.
Once I have a ttf file, how do I install it? I have one saved on my SD card, but when I try to open it I am asked what application I want to use to complete the action.

[Q] Is there a widget removal app?

I've been using Zeam 2.8.8 as my desktop launcher and think it's great for the Nook Touch, simple, fast. I am having a problem when trying to remove large widgets, i.e 4x2, 2x3. I long press the widget and drag it to the trash can, I'm not that stupid, but when it's in the right spot the widget and trash can are supposed to both turn red. Problem is on a grayscale like Nook there is no visiable change in color. Is there an app I can use to remove the widget? I've been looking for an app the past three days but not lucky. I also am using ES File manager which allow sys access. Is the widget listed somewhere in the system files so I can delete it?
Please don't suggest I update to a new OS, it's not possible. The Nook Touch runs on Android 2.1. While people are cooking custom ROMS nothing's out yet.
Maybe you should just try a different launcher
I like GO-Launcher, much better than my original Sense 3.0 for example..

The widget related data is specific to launcher so you can either try new popular launchers like GO launcher, launcher pro, ADW launcher which are prettu stable and user friendly.
Or else if you want to stick to your older launcher then in that case you can clear data for launcher application. (Goto setting - application - manage application and search for your launcher application. Open it and clear data)
sorry I don't know how to remove specifically a single widget from launcher data. By clearing data all user defined shortcuts and widgets will be removed. (Launcher Reset)
Enjoy!!

I like Go Launcher and would use it, in fact that is the launcher included on the Nook Touch rooting file, but when looking in the app drawer the font is too big and I can't see the app name. The funny part is when looking at the recent app tab and close app tab I don't have that problem.

Making nook launcher usable?

I like the nook launcher but as everyone knows it doesnt include sideloaded apps. Any way to change this?

nook color app manager allows sideload apps to be added to nook tablet homescreen its in googles market or androidzoom if you dont have access to the market.
Thank you so much! I have been trying to use different launchers and none of them work 100% correctly on the nook firmware and i am actually liking the nook interface

Oh! I had no idea nook color apps worked on the tablet. Do any others work?

Hi,
I am using (Go Launcher EX), but then you won't see the nice B&N default launcher unless you press the "Home button" (inverted U).
Of course if you also install Home Catcher (then when you press the "Home" button twice, it forwards you to the Go Launcher interface or any other at your choice)....

I also have goLauncher installed. It is the only launcher I have tried that is fully functional without any bugs. (ADW LauncherPro ADW.ex and many others all have some kind of issue either functional or cosmetic)
I very much like the Barnes and Noble home concept.
If anyone could now help me with getting sideloaded apps to launch from the app shelf I would appreciate it. Currently they only launch from the home screen.

I understand the resistance to rooting, but it does greatly increase the usability of the tablet. I'm using ADW launcher (now EX, $.10 in the market) and it works great. Go launcher also worked fine too. Add nookhome and you have the best of both worlds. So far, my NT has been rock solid stable, worlds better than my Viewsonic gTablet (bad purchase!!!). The biggest bug I've found so far is that in some apps, the pop up menu is white on white. Running a finger over the menu reveals the entry, so it's mostly aesthetic. Cut and paste is still absent and another pain in the butt is that quite a few apps are missing (google+?)from the market and require a bit of work to install. Once rooted and able to run all the Amazon stuff, this thing absolutely blows the Fire out of the water. Even rooted, the Fire is noticeably slower and buggier than the NT. My neighbor bought one, we compared and he returned the Fire for a NT.

[Q] Touchwiz ICS folders

For anyone who has the device: Does this version of TouchWiz implement folders for homescreens as they are implemented in ICS?
On a Galaxy Nexus and it is nice to drag icons to and from folders directly unlike older version. I could not find a suitable answer after searching. Thank you.
Yes you can create folders on the homescreens and put the icons/apps underneath each folder.
Does it work the same as it does in vanilla ICS? You can drag an icon to another icon and the folder is created automatically. If you drag it out again, the folder disappears.
On older TouchWiz versions folders had to be added manually.
You still have to create then manually I'm afraid.
Also if I reorder the apps within a folder it doesn't retain the new order :-(

Thanks for the info. I think I will install Nova Launcher.

Buddy software and how to get normal icons?

Does anyone experience a very buddy ui? Apps close all the time etc, didn't think was that bad until I used it..
I am using Google now launcher, but do I get normal icons?
Thanks
People not used to Honor 7 don't know it has added benefit of saving battery by closing down apps in background unless protected. Go into Settings, Protected Apps, and protect the ones you don't want closing, or Protect All if you like.

Download icons herel; https://mega.nz/#!Fsx31RxD!z-curpHUhFxOOZTCHaw4YbzJQpiRhgeuu_Axg_RNgQs
put them in the HWThemes folder on your device.
Then in setting you can change the icons set.
If you want to delete the boxed background from the app icons, then follow these steps:
Download any Root Explorer from Play Store.
Navigate to /system/themes.
Delete file named icons.hwt.
You'll get rid of your icon backgrounds.
Or you can head over to Honor themes & apps subforum to see if you like any custom themes there.
