Is there a flashable mod to get the music volume rocker skip? - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

Im on mean rom 1.4 and it did work at first, but when I flashed the mod to use the shutter button as the search button it stopped working, my multiboot menu is gone too!

Bump
I would also like to know if this is possible. One of the better functions I miss from my old CyanogenMod. That and adjusting brightness with the top bar on the fly.
Edit: Just didn't look hard enough for this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1717434

As far as adjusting brightness with the statusbar, there's a mod for that, too. I don't have a link handy right now, but it should be a quick search in the development section.

Adjusting Volume While Talking

I have noticed that while talking on my phone if I adjust the volume using the two buttons on the side it only adjusts the "System". I notice no change in the volume from the earpiece.
Has anyone else had this issue? Is there a fix? Or am I just an idiot doing something wrong (always a possibility)?
have you installed any registry tweaks or other programs? I tried switching to the stock window dialer and lost that function and had to switch back.
If you have disabled the HTC dialer skin, then you won't be able to control volume without installing the cab in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2718080&postcount=7
I did switch to the stock dialer. Thanks for the info.
i had another ? regarding changing the volume... when i change volume up and down it increases or decreaes 3 bars at a time.. is there a way to only make it go one bar at a time....?
i remember reading a hack out there to perform this but i cannot locate....
HELP...
if you use the stylus or if you have really really pointy fingers you can select bars inbetween the 3.
.. and then i wonder why my screen is so scratched up

[Q] [MOD REQUEST] Lower Minimum Brightness/Volume

At night even at 0% brightness I find the phone too bright and would like a way to lower it. I also think the minimum volume level is too loud to be comfortable in a quiet room and would like a method to lower that as well. My last request is a technique to seperate ringtone and notification volume levels. If any of these are actually possible through MODs without hobbled fixes by apps in the Play Store, I would love it! I'm running a modded stock non-deodexed ROM with unlocked bootloader and ROOT. Please help and thanks!

Thanks for the reply! Will modifying these values enable the phone to go lower than the stock 0% brightness? I don't use auto brightness and keep my DNA at 0% brightness most of the time, only going higher in sunlight.

I don't know if you'll consider this a "hobbled app" fix, but I've been using Power Toggles to substitute for my CM habit.
You can adjust notification and ringtone volumes from the notification drawer that way.

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried it out and while it does have separate sliders for the two volumes, it does NOT actually work. The two volumes are still tied together in practice. After ICS I think I've read its linked at a system or kernel level and I was hoping someone might work on a fix to address this. Also, referring to "hobbled" app fixes, I saw an app that used a workaround by switching to a custom ringtone to adjust that volume separately but was hoping for a streamlined system built in mod so that I don't have any extraneous apps or screens to delve into to adjust settings. I like minimalistic and debloat anything I dont use. Thanks again for the feedback.
i agree 100% with the sound being too loud, which has been an issue since ICS on even the Rezound...so i think their whole upgrade of the newer OS's made the volume louder. the rezound, on lowest sound level, was 20%..that's ridiculous, it should be half that, or around like 5%. even changing volume steps never worked because there was no lower volume.

[Q] Can you add "silent mode" to Touchwiz volume controls?

Hi guys,
first time poster here (except for a few random comments). I'm relatively new to the forums, but have been reading up on a lot of stuff as well as having played around with ROMs to try and improve my SGS2's battery life. So along with having gotten myself and extended battery, I'm currently running NeatROM 4.8 which is a Touchwiz-based ROM. After trying a few different ROMs I figured that I actually kind of like Touchwiz compared to vanilla Android or the different launchers. However, a few features are missing.
My main problem with Touchwiz is that it doesn't have the "silent mode" option. On my GNex I'd have "volume", "vibrate" and then finally "silent" when you hit volume down one more time after the vibrate mode. I thought it was quite ingenious, and I hate not being able to set it to "silent" in Touchwiz. I know there's the quick menu option to disable the vibration, but that's just a pain compared to the other feature.
SO...does anyone know of a way to add the vanilla volume control to Touchwiz? A mod? A flashable zip? Some simple launcher that wouldn't kill my battery completely to fix the issue?
Tried searching for a solution in the forums, but didn't find anything that answered my question. Hope someone can help.
you have it ine 4.1 roms as dropdown toggles and in the power button options.....still don't get your point....

That kind of IS my point
I don't want it in the quickmenu (dropdown) toggles. And I don't want it in the power button menu. I'm looking for a way to get silent mode on the volume buttons like it is on Google Android.
I'm not aware of something such as that. My advice would be to post up on the NeatROM thread, super friendly bunch of blokes on there. You'll need a few more posts (need 10 all up) before you can post in a dev thread, but you should be able to get that no worries.

[Q] Volume rocker wake???

I've been searching XDA and Google up the wazoo looking for a way to do this... coming up blank, except for threads on other phones.... if it is there and I missed it please someone point me in the right direction! I'm looking for a way to allow my volume rocker to wake up the screen so that I can take a bit of the stress off the power button. Even better would be a way to wake the screen with a swype on the screen or on the softkeys, but I've been drawing a blank there too. I would like to accomplish this without having to go to a different rom (like CM), I like CM but on the LG I really like to keep some of the features that come on the stock rom (i.e. Qslide, quickmemo, lockscreen style)... so if this could be done maybe with a flashable zip, or a mod on a script or something that would be awesome.
Additionally I am wondering if there is a way to increase/decrease volume from the lockscreen. I know I can toggle between silent/vibrate/ring.... but if for example I select ring and the volume is low, I have no way to increase it without having to unlock the phone.
Already tried:
-numerous apps that are supposed to allow to wake the phone in customizable ways (none have worked)
-Lockscreen apps to allow volume rocker wake (even though I really just want to keep my stock lockscreen)
-modified a file called keypad_8064.kl to add WAKE after the volume up/down
Thanks!
p.s. sorry if this has been answered somewhere else, I've honestly been searching for two days with no luck
p.s. #2 if someone has any ideas or mods for the issue about the LED Notification frequency being so slow I would greatly appreciate it too. I did find threads about it but none of the solutions worked for me. Tried different apps with no success too
ps.#3 I'm using SnowJB on 4.1.2
Try Exposed + Gravity box. I know it says AOSP Roms but I use it on ATT Stock JB and most functions work. Haven't tried Volume wake though.

Thanks.... nice tool, although it doesn't have a volume wake option though. All it has is the option to disable volume wake (meaning if your phone already does it), but not to enable it. It did allow me to do something else I had been struggling with, but still at a loss about the volume wake thing.
I have the apk, not sure where I found it but it works great on the Optimus G.
An apk would be awesome.... Care to share it?

wow... that was great. I can confirm the apk works just fine to allow volume rocker screen wake on my e970. Haven't monitored if it affects battery but at least so far it's working great. It does require Super User rights in case anyone else wants to try it.
Thank you!
BTW, on the issue of being able to control volume without waking the screen I installed this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.firestorm.vc&hl=es
It sets the app in the notification tray (not the status bar) so that you can control volume levels from the notification area.... since you CAN drop down this while the screen is locked it pretty much does what I was looking for. I should also point out that if other notifications come in on the phone, this one moves down the list, giving room for the new ones, so it doesn't impact new notifications on your phone.

Lets mod the new 5.1 update

There are a lot of things I want/need to do with the new update. No one is really talking about it, I know a lot of people probably haven't even updated yet. But I figured it would be nice to have a thread where these things can be addressed and updated as we get them done.
Xposed - The big one. Currently gets stuck in bootloop with the Unofficial version of Xposed for 5.1. Bootloop is easily fixed by running xposed-uninstaller in TWRP.
Change Phone DPI - currently working - *Requires Root* Change it how you usually do. Edit build.prop, or use an app like RomToolBox. I find that 264 works well and looks good. @xordos has a comprehensive guide here.
Apps don't auto-start after reboot - Partially fixed - *Requires Root*use a program like TitaniumBackup to install the apps you want to start at boot as a "system app". This will allow them to start after a reboot, but you will need to reconfigure them after you convert them. Do this for apps like Viper, over-clocking apps, and Tasker. Credit to @Iguanadon
3rd Party Launchers not sticking after reboot - Fixed - *Requires Root* All you have to do is freeze the stock launcher. Use a program like TitaniumBackup, find "Huawei Home" and freeze it. Make sure you have Nova or another Launcher installed first!
Battery Percentage in status bar - Until xposed is working there is a neat little app that allows you to have an overlay on your battery icon like this. It's not perfect, but it gets the job done. The app can be found here. Might want to leave accessibility access off, because it pops up a window everytime you plug or unplug the charger. Doesn't seem to start at boot. Could be annoying to launch the app every time you reboot...depends how often you do it.
Lockscreen - Stock one is horrible compared to stock lollipop. It is kind of pretty, but it takes multiple swipes to unlock sometimes, it doesn't show any notifications, its basically wasted space. I would like the stock Lollipop lockscreen. Anyone have any ideas besides the not so great one in the Playstore? I would rather have an official system lockscreen. On jellybean you just had to freeze the Huawei lockscreen. Now if you freeze Huawei Keyguard, the there is no lockscreen at all. Just the screen turns on and you're on your launcher home-screen. I tried finding the lockscreen app on a cm12 device, but it looks like it's built into the systemUI. I am currently using CM Locker. It's pretty nice, has notifications, and doesn't seem to have a delay like most 3rd party lockscreens.
Multitask screen - Again, I would like the stock Lollipop one, also built into the SystemUI. Once we have xposed, there is a pretty nice app here. Then you can assign the multitask button on your nav bar to open that instead. Worked well for me on jellybean.
The carrier text in the status bar - Fixed - Disabled in settings>display>display carrier name (thanks @xordos)
Boost speaker volume and possibly fix audio cut out bug - somewhat fixed - *Requires root* It's really quiet for some reason, considerably quieter than it was on Jellybean....I have had success with Viper4. Make sure you have BusyBox installed, and run it it at least once to install the framework. Then launch Viper4 and do all the stuff it tells you....Install driver, disable LPA, etc. Enable speaker master switch, enable "eXtra-loud" setting at the bottom, and change "Effect Strength" to Extreme. I noticed about a 20-30% volume increase from this. Might need to be launched again after a reboot, or install as system app. As a bonus, this app/driver also seems to fix the terrible audio bug where audio cuts out, and the phone starts lagging. Only 99% sure, but it hasn't happened to me while its active.
Change boot animation - Pretty standard guide I made here. This post includes the stock Lollipop animation.
If anyone has another thing or two they want fixed, I can add it here. If I find any answers I will update as well.
Carrier text, this can be disabled in settings - Display.

The app "Browser" doesn't work at screen dpi 264 & 268. I've tried other higher values, however the soft menus at the bottom of the screen are not properly centered.
Is there a way to change app dpi without using xposed?

Nope. You can either keep upping the whole phone DPI little by little, or maybe use a different browser. I haven't noticed any discrepancies yet in my apps with 264.

Volume Increase
Any way to increase the volume steps so that the audio is louder? I have the volume all the way up and sometimes I can't really hear what I'm listening to unless I hold the speaker to my ear or wear headphones. I was using an xposed module to do this, but until xposed becomes available is there anything that works to increase the volume so its louder? The xposed mod I was using is called Volumesteps+ and can be found at http://repo.xposed.info/module/com.p1ngu1n.volumesteps . any help would be appreciated.

I tried it when I had 4.3 and couldn't really tell any difference. I tried it again this morning with not much luck either. It just doesn't seem louder than what normal volume would be. I know its not going to be extremely loud. I just want something that I don't have to hold the phone to my ear to hear what they're saying. Also with viper it hasn't been setup for 5.1 yet only 5.0.

On my nexus 5(which also had a horrible speaker), you could edit the mixer_paths.xml to boost the volume. I tried it on my Mate2, and couldn't really notice a difference.
After installing busybox, the viper4 driver, and disabling the LPA setting it recommends to, I can say Viper makes a noticeable difference for me. Probably about 25-30% louder.
Make sure you Enable the master switch at the top for speaker, and the "eXtra loud" setting at the bottom, and put Effect strength on Extreme.
Edit: Added my method to original post, with links.
Added boot animation guide.
