[Sola] Wifi Enable error - Sony Xperia P, U, Sola, Go

Hey guys, I bought the Xperia sola phone a couple of weeks ago and everything worked perfectly. After a week I found out that I wanted to root it and flash a new rom(KA02 Xperia SSpeed). At first I only unlocked the bootloader and flashed a rooted kernel. The problem I've been experiencing after that is that it is impossible to activate wifi/hotspot. I always get "Error" when I try.
I've read somewhere that it's pretty common after unlocking the bootloader. Is it any way to fix this?
Thanks in advance,
Doctor X

Which zip?

Anyway, when I first rooted the phone I kept the stock rom and used the "Advanced Stock Kernel" by DooMLoRD. After rooting wifi wouldn't turn on. Now I use the Xperia SSpeed kernel as mentioned in the first post.
It'll be fine for me to flash back the original kernel and relock the bootloader if it will fix the problem.
If anyone has the original image that I can use with fastboot I'd be grateful.
Thanks,
Doctor X

Okay, I found out what you meant. I used v1 of the kernel actually because I downloaded everything from the XDA hosting thing. I'm using v2 now, but I got a problem with the phone memory. Even if I've erased everything and flashed the SSpeed kernel and rom it says its full. And I don't understand a sh*t.

Okay I got the integrated storage to work again and installed the wifi modules, but now I experience the same problem as before. I just get "Error" when I try to activate wifi.
Anyone?

I got relevant information when I ran dmesg.

[Q] SE X10i 3 mobile help.

Hi all.
I need some help and advice.
Being new to phone tinkering i dont want to do it wrong first time round.
My SE X10i is currently running gingerbread 2.3.3 but its rooted.
I would like help putting my phone on something better as the internets slow and lags a lot.
Im happy to try anything to make this phone as it could be or should be.
I dont know what rom to use or kernel as this is my first time doing anything to any phone.
AS you can guess im asking as i dont want to brick my phone on the first attempt.
If this is in the wrong place i applogise now.
Thanks if you can help.
I hate being a noob at something.
I can give more info if needed.
Thx wraith36
The internet will be always laggy. Very smooth browser is opera mobile. However the stock ROM itself is very laggy. I would recommend you to install some custom ROM. If you already have rooted phone it will be very easy to change the ROM. Just install xrecovery via flashtool (when the phone is turned on) and download ROM you want. Every ROM thread will have an exact installation guide. P. S. If you want to change kernel you have to unlock bootloader.
I could send you some necessary files to do that and guide you through unlocking the bootloader and the ROM change.
Just choose the ROM you want to have
Use this tool forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1415600
Thanks for the help jakuburban
I will have a look into the ROM's and see what's what.
Do you recommend any.
I used FlashTool_0.2.9.1-GBready_root_xRec to root my phone, is that right?
I did the loader part with this and the kernel part also with FlashTool.
Well I hope I have.
You can send me what you think might help.
Beggars cant be choosers as they say.
And I need all the help I can be given or find.
And thx for you help with this.

Root the Device Install Xrecovery and CWM from the tool
and then u can decide on what Roms to Update...
Oh, You've done already almost everything. Now You just have to install xRecovery and choose which kind of ROM would You like> MIUI or a stock based ROM.
MIUI is a little bit slower but it has more options like themes etc
Stock based ROM looks almost like the stock ROM but this is the fastest one
MIUI I am using: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1377633
Stock based ROM I used: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1399040
After You downloaded flashable ROM You have to enter the xRecovery and flash it.
INFO: When changing to MIUI erase the data
OK I got all the info you have posted.
How do I add xRecovery
Do I download that to and install it or is that in my phone already?
I'm a noob at this.
Sorry if im slow at this.

First method
Have Your phone turned on (USB debbuging also) and connect it to flashtool.
Then the "xRecovery" button should enable. Hit this button and You're done.

Second method
Download this file and using root explorer copy the files from bin/ > system/bin/ and from xbin/ > /system/xbin/ and reboot

To enter xRecovery keep pressing back button (press>release>press...) while the phone is booting ("sony sericsson" text, or while loading some other kernel)
OK jakuburban.
I downloaded what you said.
I've tryed to see if xRecovery will highlite itself but it never.
So now i need to try the other method.
OK jakuburban xRecovery installed now.
When I choose a ROM do I need to choose one that suite's we I am, IE in the UK?
Or can I choose any as long as it's in english?
Up to now things are going OK seeing I've not done this kind of thing before.
Thx for understanding.

Sorry were do I copy them to? Do they need to go in a specific place in my phone?

No You don't have to use any commands. (but You can If You want to have it more difficult )
the file I've sent You contains folder named system.
in system are folders called bin and xbin.
Get into bin folder and copy the files (with root explorer) to Your /system/bin/*here the files
That's what I meant with bin/ > system/bin/
After that do the same with the xbin folder
Sorry I updated my last post to say I have xRecovery installed now.
My fault for the confusion

I've never looked for a language. Everything worked fine, so just choose ROM You want
So when I change ROM do I also change the KERNEL or is that not necessarie.
Sorry my spelling is awe-full and same go's for my spell checker lol

Most of the ROM's should work with the stock kernel, but I would suggest You to stick to the KERNEL the developers are suggesting. For me the best ROM is Doomkernel, because it works with MIUI and a stock ROM and also has overclocking
So the link you gave at the start for MIUI will that have the KERNEL with it or separate?
Sorry to bug you with all this.
I apologise for it now.

No, it won't. Most of the times if You will be able to boot into xRecovery, however if You delete to much it could just stuck. But then You can use SEUS, it worked always for me, or flashtool.
jakuburban which do I install first the kernel or the rom.
Do I use the flash tool I used at the start to root the phone.
Once I know that I guess I can start.
And good morning to you.

It could be possible that the binary of SU is not updated. try downloading superSU in google store to see what happens.
If that will not work, yes you can root gain your phone using CF root kernel then try flashing another kernel like siyah, speedmod etc.

Hello guys
First of all, I'm sorry to bump an old thread. But I guess it would be better than making a new one
I got my SGS2 from my sister few days ago and I tried to root it. After I did everything instructed by all tutorials I've read, I still can't use CWM Manager. It said just like above posts.
What I did:
1. Root the phone (already tried with 2 different kernels, the LP7s)
2. Open the SuperUser app. The app didn't give any options when I first opened it (like some tutorials do), it only gave 'Okay' to click.
3. Open CWM Manager and you all know the rest
4. Tried to install SU Updater fixer, but the app told me that there are no problems detected.
Then, I found out that I also had a problem connecting to wifi after I root (stuck in obtaining IP address). I didn't have the problem when first I use the device from my sister.
Waiting for your kindly replies. Thank you in advance

Never used the ROM, never used the kernel either. Why don't you ask in the ROM thread after your have tried that with the stock kernel shipped with that ROM?
Finally got to work on GSnaps v1.3
Finally got it worked on GSnaps v1.3
Please fix cmd "enlog".
I manually moved that "95logger" script file and rebooted device.
also "enlog" cmd does not work in GTR v7.8.x keep that guide of GSnaps clean guys it is very dirty to understand.
Please fix this issue if any one finds, otherwise this great innovated ROM to O1 will lead to a hated one by our beloved developers present out there.
Finally, i can continue my development work.
Anyway keep the good work and thanks to lophrae dude, u realized me.
When ICS port of Gsnaps or GTR will come ? eager to flash that one also.
Cheer up.

By the way, I prepared from past one year before proceeding to flash my device O1.
Besides, I don't have much time in child's play to waste XDA developer time and mine.
I correctly tested that CMD ("enlog") in GTR v7.8.x it does not work. I think u read that GSnap rom correctly thousand times.
and only in GSnap "enlog" this cmd worked for me. No one mentioned to enter that command in GTR vX.

Missed to check as Root
Ok, thank u.
I missed that to check as Root, no error message came and enlog worked.

after that,i updated to ICS via RUU and flashed this kernel from here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1362759 (at #5)
Nothing changes.
at the first time,i have flashed the Amaze ICS(v015) kernel via 4EXT touch recovery, flashed kernel successfully .
but i think i go wrong somewhere, because the following instruction said:
CWM Flash Instructions: (NO LONGER SUPPORTING CWM METHOD DUE TO HTC's STUPID S-ON UNLOCK!!!)
1. Copy file to SDcard
2. Reboot to CWM recovery
3. Flash the Zip file (if you noticed an error, Flash the same file the 2nd time)
4. Reboot, Done!
i read carefully the second way
Easy Kernel Flasher Instructions:
1. download the above file (via phone directly or to a PC)
2. unzip to a folder then depends on PC or Linux
[ Windows ] open command prompt window and type Flash.bat
[ Linux ] open terminal window and type ./Flash.sh (make sure permission is set to 755 for the Flash.sh)
3. Let the script complete!
,downloaded the kernel, extracted into a folder on my pc.
but i dont see any "Flash.bat'' and dont know how to flash it.
but in the folder that i've just extracted.i found two file:
wl12xx.ko and wl12xx_sdio.ko
putting the whole folder modules into the this kernel (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1362759) and run flash.bat...
after flashing, both wifi and bluetooth broken
when i try to turning them on,they turn off instantly
//sorry sir for the bad english
Try to run my AIO tool, which can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1762936
If that doesn't work, more likely than not, it's a hardware issue, as my AIO tool will install a MOSTLY stock RUU with a stock kernel. If that doesn't work, I strongly doubt anything else would work either.
Make sure you follow the directions for the tool.

Anyone have any info as to how or where to repair the wifi chip on the amaze? I'm having the same problem and am quite certain that is it hardware issue as the problem started after dropping the phone and without flashing or changing anything, fixing permissions and flashing stock RUU's, kernels, etc of no help. Hoping that something is possible, would be great if it was as simple as a loose ribbon cable...

Hello,
Here is my situation. I got S-off, SuperCID, unlocked on my HTC amaze unbranded version. Then got ICS stock RUU to run.
The wifi, bluetooth worked fine. However, I have to compile the kernel for this exact version (matched radio, baseband kernel, etc). I downloaded the source from HTCdev (the one with TI WLAN sources), and compiled it. Then I got the zImage repacked so that it can run on the device. Then I see that the wifi, bluetooth shows "error".
The kernel build "readme.txt" located me to the kernel object files such as wl12xx.ko. So I planned to push them in to the device with command "adb push wl12xx.ko /system/lib/modules" but failed. I got super user permission ("adb shell", "su") but still cannot get the kernel objects to the device with adb command. Is there a way to handle this?
My final objective is to get the compiled kernel (with no wifi, bluetooth error) running.
PS. Doesn't actually matter if it is GB or ICS.
Thank you in advance.

It's easier if you swap the neccesary files with faux kernel zip and flash it from recovery or make your own flashable zip.. That way the modules and zimage get flashed without having to use adb

Hello mate and thanks for posting the info.
When you say 'only install the playstation certificate', are you saying there's an option to pick what to install after you select the downloaded ZIP in TWRP / CW?
I really want to try this but I fear bricking my device if there's some other manual step required, such as modifying the ZIP prior to flashing from recovery.
Any additional information from you, or anyone who has applied this, would be greatly appreciated!

I tried copying the two files from the zip to system/etc/permissions and system/frsmework and setting permissions on both to rwrr and i get the error code when starting the app. I'm not unlocked just rooted. I read on the other post about this that is all that needed to happen but no luck. It's there a way to tell from the zip what else i may need to do? I'm on JB as well.
Thanks
Brandon

sorry i did not mean permission , (CERTIFICATE)
first download the the first file- , you should be able to download it straight from your phone, you said you are rooted ? make sure you have access to RECOVERY MODE - after your download, go in there, find the CERTIFICATE and FLASH IT . . . follow the steps given on here.
i did it twice to make sure it wasnt luck , and it worked great.

I tried one more time instead of flashing but doing it manually and the key was to completely power off instead of just rebooting. I don't know why but after that the PSM app quit erroring and works now. So it is possible to do it manually without flashing.
Side note, I tried to get into recovery and it gave me a dead android icon. I started with Power + Vol Down, chose the RCK icon and then it died. So I don't know what is up there. First time I had ever tried to get into recovery mode.
Thanks,
Brandon
Installation works as described!
But when I try to log in with my PSN credentials, I get a 'Deze service is niet beschikbaar in uw land/regio'. (This service is unavailable)
I live in Belgium. Will this be available in the future?
Or what can I do about this?
Thanks in advance.

that means you probably just updated to JB, you need to flash a recovery
No luck for me.
Running JB rooted only, NOT unlocked.
Installed apk.
Copied .jar file and .xml to correct directories and changed permissions on the .jar to 644.
Shutdown and restart.
Error 8008103E when trying to open.
Any ideas where I went wrong?
Never mind, you have to change permissions on the .xml file to 644 also. The AndroidPolice instructions leave that part out.
