i 've got an amaze 4g t-mobile recently.it works perfectly.but then,i updated to ICS through OTA...
Everything work fine except Wifi,i cant turn on wifi at all.It only show error when i try to turning on ...
I did search the whole forums,trying everthing i can do..unlock boot loader/rooted/s-off/flash 4EXT recovery/flash many cook rom (android revolution,fastrom,energy rom..),kernel(ruby-faux123 v007/v008/v015/v016..)
finally i reverted back to Stock GB with "PH85IMG_Ruby_TMOUS_1.43.531.3_Radio_1.08.550L.19DC_30.66.550L.08D_release_228638_signed".
but wifi still shows ''error'' at all, when i try to turning on hotspot ,the phone force to reset .
currently:
Stock GB:2.3.4
Sense:3.0
Kernel:2.3.35.13 build 144#1
Baseband:1.08.550L.19DC_30.66.550L.08D
Buildnumber:1.43.531.3
Bootloader unlocked and s-off.
Hoping there is anyone else can understand my bad english and help me .
Since you're s-off try updating back to ics via the most recent file in the stock ruu thread and see if it resolves it.

as you have said,i just flashed the above kernel (Amaze-EKF-009b-sense.zip) into stock GB,but wifi error is still there
after that,i updated to ICS via RUU and flashed this kernel from here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1362759 (at #5)
Nothing changes.
at the first time,i have flashed the Amaze ICS(v015) kernel via 4EXT touch recovery, flashed kernel successfully .
but i think i go wrong somewhere, because the following instruction said:
CWM Flash Instructions: (NO LONGER SUPPORTING CWM METHOD DUE TO HTC's STUPID S-ON UNLOCK!!!)
1. Copy file to SDcard
2. Reboot to CWM recovery
3. Flash the Zip file (if you noticed an error, Flash the same file the 2nd time)
4. Reboot, Done!
i read carefully the second way
Easy Kernel Flasher Instructions:
1. download the above file (via phone directly or to a PC)
2. unzip to a folder then depends on PC or Linux
[ Windows ] open command prompt window and type Flash.bat
[ Linux ] open terminal window and type ./Flash.sh (make sure permission is set to 755 for the Flash.sh)
3. Let the script complete!
,downloaded the kernel, extracted into a folder on my pc.
but i dont see any "Flash.bat'' and dont know how to flash it.
but in the folder that i've just extracted.i found two file:
wl12xx.ko and wl12xx_sdio.ko
putting the whole folder modules into the this kernel (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1362759) and run flash.bat...
after flashing, both wifi and bluetooth broken
when i try to turning them on,they turn off instantly
//sorry sir for the bad english
Try to run my AIO tool, which can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1762936
If that doesn't work, more likely than not, it's a hardware issue, as my AIO tool will install a MOSTLY stock RUU with a stock kernel. If that doesn't work, I strongly doubt anything else would work either.
Make sure you follow the directions for the tool.

Anyone have any info as to how or where to repair the wifi chip on the amaze? I'm having the same problem and am quite certain that is it hardware issue as the problem started after dropping the phone and without flashing or changing anything, fixing permissions and flashing stock RUU's, kernels, etc of no help. Hoping that something is possible, would be great if it was as simple as a loose ribbon cable...

Hello,
Here is my situation. I got S-off, SuperCID, unlocked on my HTC amaze unbranded version. Then got ICS stock RUU to run.
The wifi, bluetooth worked fine. However, I have to compile the kernel for this exact version (matched radio, baseband kernel, etc). I downloaded the source from HTCdev (the one with TI WLAN sources), and compiled it. Then I got the zImage repacked so that it can run on the device. Then I see that the wifi, bluetooth shows "error".
The kernel build "readme.txt" located me to the kernel object files such as wl12xx.ko. So I planned to push them in to the device with command "adb push wl12xx.ko /system/lib/modules" but failed. I got super user permission ("adb shell", "su") but still cannot get the kernel objects to the device with adb command. Is there a way to handle this?
My final objective is to get the compiled kernel (with no wifi, bluetooth error) running.
PS. Doesn't actually matter if it is GB or ICS.
Thank you in advance.

It's easier if you swap the neccesary files with faux kernel zip and flash it from recovery or make your own flashable zip.. That way the modules and zimage get flashed without having to use adb

Maybe since you are s-on, the kernel did not flash correctly. This could cause Wi-Fi not to work, afaik. Maybe get s-off and then flash the Rom again.

so i didnt had to extract it from a rom.
i flashed it with CWM recovery, just choose install zip from sd card, after wifi worked again.
used this wifi module on 2 different roms and it worked both times.
right now i installed stock rom for my device and waiting for ics to be finally released for hk devices. so no more need for me to fix wifi

When you tried the fix noted above, I assume the screen didn't roll when you rebooted then into CWM recovery. At that point did you flash a ROM and THEN reboot to find the flicker after locking the screen, or did you do a reboot back into the same stock HC after flashing the bootloader and experience the problem?
I'm contemplating flashing this same bootloader because I have a rolling CWM5.5.0.4 right now and I want to stabilize it - but just so that I can root...not thinking about a ROM just yet...
Just to inform you all, i also had to flash a different bootloader after installing cm9 on my p7511, wich is in fact a 7510. For the records, pershoot made the new bootloader for exactly that issue, not backwards. But seems to work also.
What i deal now with, is that after flashing the uk ics for p7510 to my tab, the stock recovery doesn't recognize my sdcard. Can't mount sdcard...
Could be that a repartitioning with pit file will be necessary afterwards for us all.
Edit: thanks to the wise help of msedek, i know by now that my hind was totaly wrong. My mentioned point has to do with the Changes within stock recovery of ics, which have been made to prevent changes from there.
Getting more confident..
OK so it is sounding like this is definitely better. One more question:
I'm following the stickied root guide in General and that method uses CWM 4.0.0.4...I had reflashed that version. If I want to flash this boot loader should I flash 5.5.0.4 first? Or does it matter if I'm just trying to root right now?
EDIT: Flashed the bootloader which straightened out the recovery!! Successfully rooted after that. Downloaded root apps (ROM manager/Titanium/etc). Then turned off my screen - FLICKER CITY!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1680738 <<< THIS fixed it. Load this kernel into the root of your tablet and flash it with CWM. Seems to have done the trick nicely and I'm exploring my newly rooted tab! My wife no longer wants to kill me either.

I have the same problem on my P7500 3G and the minute i load the bootloader to fix CWM recovery rolling i get the screen flickering after lock screen.

Kernel: 3.1.10
Still stuck.
Hi guys,
Gtab 10.1 Wifi here. Fix didn't worked, somehow...
After installing official ics from Samsung and rooted, i had the same insane flicker issue. I followed this thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1680738 - , flashed new kernel, and now i cant pass Samsung Galaxy Tab logo for some reason, not even past half an hour.
Im in a dead end, even tried installing back CM9 but it also wont pass the splashing blue screen.
Any ideas?
cheers!
EDIT : After some reboots, finally managed to boot into ICS (CM9) but now i was pushed back to the step 1, where I don't have a working camera, but I have root access and non official ICS from Cyanogen. I am afraid re-doing all my work and get stuck again in the scrambled screen after it updates the kernel..
I'm I missing something, guys?

Now that the new hboot doesn't allow S-ON devices to flash kernels I went ahead and adapted this for the LTE. It's something I started for the Evo 3D back in January, but when a new way to get S-OFF was found I sat it aside and had forgotten about it.
When used it tries to flash the kernel like normal and doesn't do anything special if able to, otherwise it will copy a script to the system partition and install the kernel when the ROM tries to boot up. All that's needed is for a few lines to be added to the updater-script and it can do the rest.
I'll update this with more information at a later time, but for now I just want to say thank you to everyone who has helped contribute ideas and tested. As always, any help with improving it is welcomed.
How To Use It
This is mainly for ROM and kernel devs to use before releasing, but it can easily be added to any that don't normally use it. For more detailed instructions see Page 3.
Download and add the "kernel" folder to your update zip
Edit your updater-script and use the following when you are ready to install the boot.img
Code:
ui_print("Installing Kernel, please wait...");
package_extract_file("boot.img", "/tmp/boot.img");
package_extract_dir("kernel", "/tmp/kernel");
set_perm_recursive(0, 2000, 0777, 0777, "/tmp/kernel");
run_program("/tmp/kernel/install_kernel.sh", "/tmp/boot.img", "/tmp/bootready.tmp");;
ifelse(file_getprop("/tmp/bootready.tmp","kernel.ready") != "READY",(
ifelse(file_getprop("/tmp/bootready.tmp","kernel.ready") == "STARTUP",
ui_print("Kernel Will Be Installed On Startup."),
ui_print("ERROR: Kernel Not Installed!")
)
));
Sign the zip and it can then be installed like normal from any device with a custom recovery
Changes
v0.57
flashboot.sh - Fixed the case statement that verifies the kernel flashed properly
flashboot.sh - Moved the call for DD to save the old kernel so that it always gets used
Downloads/Sources
Kernel Folder on DevHost (MD5: 27eB86aae3562e147d86b8dfe7a04786)
Google Code
Github - All files including the flashboot binary source
How Can I Test It With S-OFF?
If you comment out the dd command that writes the boot.img it will act like your device has S-ON.
Edit install_kernel.sh and change:
Code:
echo "-Trying to write the new boot.img and verify it's MD5"
$BBDD if=$BOOTPADDED of=$BLOCKBOOT; sync
rm -f $BOOTOLD
to:
Code:
echo "-Trying to write the new boot.img and verify it's MD5"
#$BBDD if=$BOOTPADDED of=$BLOCKBOOT; sync
rm -f $BOOTOLD
Where Are The Log Files?
In the recovery it uses: /tmp/recovery.log
On boot it uses: /data/local/bootinfo.txt
What Does This Need To Work?
A custom recovery
A valid kernel already installed with init scripts to start either /system/bin/app_process or /system/bin/netd
What Recoveries Does It work With?
Most of my testing has been done with TWRP, but it should work just as well with any other recovery
Why Did My Phone Reboot Back To The Recovery?
If it is unable to flash the kernel it will leave the old one in place and reboot back to the recovery. If you are able to, please pull the log file from /data/local/bootinfo.txt and send it to me so I can see what needs to be fixed.
What If I Get A Bootloop?
Either the kernel you flashed doesn't work with your ROM or there was an error and it's unable to reboot back to the recovery. If you hold volume down it should bring up the bootloader, from there use the volume and power buttons to select 'Recovery'.
Why Does My Phone Boot Straight To The Bootloader?
You either managed to wipe your boot partition (kernel) or sometimes this will happen when upgrading hboots. If you are S-ON you will need to flash a new boot image from fastboot.

Yup, it's all the same to it. The only thing it needs to work is for some sort of kernel to already be installed.

Would be a nice setup, aroma choose the way to install, boot.img or anykernel flash
Then you can flash the modules either way...
Thanks for the script. It will definitely get used.

Let me know if you need any help implementing it. I know the instructions aren't very detailed yet so I'll see about clarifying them some more here in a little bit.

I don't mean to highjack anyone thread I was ready to do this since meanrom went with the evilz kernal. since I was s-on on the 1.15 boot. I was going to do this till I found a app on the market place called flash image gui which installed the kernal right on the phone.was simple and just plain easy no typeing anthing in just a click of a buttone.

I used Flash Image GUI on my NS4G all of the time. The last 2 updates were to add this phone and the Nexus 7. It takes about 10 seconds to flash a kernel or recovery img. Its a JoeyKrim app...so you know its legit. It actually saved me last night when testing a N7 kernel overclocked over 1.99. . The kernel somehow made my N7 not boot to recovery no matter what I tried so I stuck a different kernel in that app, flashed it and once it booted I flashed the CWM 6.0.1.0 and I was completely fixed. Money well spent.
Edit..XhausX, I bought my first 2 HTCs ever about 2 weeks ago. They are both s on 1.13 but I need to either return on to full stock or use your rooted stock. I need to help my mother out. She's using a Samsung Moment! Ouch.... I am downloading that now. Is it a simple wipe and flash? If its more difficult, I will gladly shoot a donation your way if you can help me. I think I prefer her to be rooted stock so your odex version is the call...should have mentioned I know squat about the HTC methods. Regaw_Leinard got me where I am now

Since the kernel is only writeable from the rom this does something similar, except it does it after you flash the rom and it's automatic.
You could look at it as the rom itself installs it's own kernel. That's one of the reasons why it may look so convoluted, but for a rom/kernel dev to actually implement it is easy once you know how it works.

If you no longer need it rooted personally I would get s-off first and then run the latest RUU to restore it to stock. That way you'll always be able to re-root anytime without hassle, but the device can still be completely stock and used normally.

+1 on that, where do i add this in the updater and what do we do with Blk21 just leave it or will it work around it.
Is it possible to get a mirror of the Dev-Host file? The 'drivers are currently being updated', and I wanted to try adding this to my stock 2.13.651.1 ROM so as to avoid the inevitable questions from noobs that are S-ON about why the ROM won't boot .

Usually it's best to run it last so everything else is already in place. It will also check the recovery for the mount point, so that line won't be needed with it.
For your paranoid android rom you could use something like this: http://pastebin.com/rGVDKK2u
I'm not able to test it atm though so you'll probably want to verify it's good first.

Help needed
Hi. First of all I’m a noob in all concerns of android - rooting - ROMs and so on. Basically I wanted to root my HTC flyer WIFI so I could try using different custom roms, desensed honeycomb, jelly bean and so on.
It all started out pretty well, at least I got it rooted with this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1881748 root was confirmed with root checker basic.
My next step was that I wanted to try flash a custom ROM on it and I decided to try out DextersJB v1.7p1 CM10 + AOKP edition (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1795342)
Since I used HTC Unlock it says I should:
“if you used HTC Unlock and S-OFF'd using that, you ALWAYS need to flash new boot.img manually, search "fastboot flash boot boot.img" if do not already know how to use it.
remember that 2 boot images exists, one withhtc keys enabled(phoneUI) and one without.”
So I found this tutorial for flashing via fastboot:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1752270
It basically works, but after I fastboot flash boot boot.img and fastboot reboot, first thing that comes up is the HTC(without “quietly brilliant”) and then just a blank black screen with backlit display still on (which could be the boot animation from the JB ROM). I waited and waited, but nothing else happens. I can still reboot into bootloader and access other boot.img via fastboot.
I searched for solutions in the forums, but couldn’t find anything helpful. Can anyone help me get it up and running again and flash a boot.img?
Remember this is all I have ever done into rooting and Roms, so please try answering in a very basic "nerd" language.
Same problem here

On v1.7, my flyer reboots when I turn speakerphone on or plug in a headset. So, I've gone back to v1.6, but that has microphone problems, even with p1 and p2. So, I'll just wait for v1.8. I hope they keep developing, because if it gets working fully (which is a big job for the developers) I'll make some donations to them. It's great that there's progress on the Flyer, because the development for my old Desire has halted.
I wanted to post my feedback in the development thread too, but I'm also a newbie.

I agree with U. Dexter and his friends, their JB made flyer a really fast MACHINE. 1.7 is better in touching so I keep using it. If 1.8 fix the camera and phone, there would be no reason not flashing it( HTC developers better go to die ~~) I also want to donate to Dexter if he doesn't mind that's done with RMB...:

Finally I solved myself. Hope this will help someone.
1. Connect the HTC Flyer to computer & get in the fastboot.
2. C:\Android>fastboot devices
HT15GJN00238 fastboot
3. Copy the boot.img from the Dexter ZIP file. Then run the following
C:\Android>fastboot flash boot boot.img
sending 'boot' (3212 KB)...
OKAY [ 0.523s]
writing 'boot'...
OKAY [ 0.388s]
finished. total time: 0.913s
4. Copy the recovery.img from CWM ZIP file and run the following. And Reboot.
C:\Android>fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
sending 'recovery' (5158 KB)...
OKAY [ 0.843s]
writing 'recovery'...
OKAY [ 0.990s]
finished. total time: 1.835s
rebooting...
finished. total time: 0.593s
5. Now I was be able to go to the Recovery mode and install the Dexter ZIP file.
I thought I bricked my Flyer, but I am back online
Hello XDA members,
I was hoping somebody would help me out, I'm fairly new when it comes to installing custom roms so I require your patience. I don't know how to install a custom rom onto my Bell Atrix HD MB886, everytime I try it says abortion failed, what can I do to fix this. I have wiped data and all that probably 5 times in the past week alone. I would like to know how to successfully install roms without errors. Both the times that I have done this I had my bootloader unlocked, and I had clockword recovery mod latest version 6.0.4.4. I bought an SD card today to help install the roms because otherwise I can't do it from my internal storage. I really hope somebody can help me out.

Hi there. A failed abortion certainly seems like an issue... I guess I am not totally clear on the status here. You say that you had CWM. Do you still have it? Bootloader is still unlocked? What rom are you trying to install? Are you certain it's for the Bell version and not like the AT&T one? What is the exact error message?

No I don't have it atm as I just wiped the data/cache last night but will I already have CWM, I just need to unlock the bootloader and try again...I'm trying to install this one:
Android 4.4.2 KitKat Mokee Rom, and it says the version is a nightly. Yes I'm positive it's the Bell Version as I purchased it at a Bell Store and my carrier is Bell. The error message is "Installation Aborted." It begins installing, and then halfway through I get that error message. How do I fix this?
I figured you knew what phone you had. I was wondering if you had a rom built for the Bell version vs an ATT one. But since you are using a CM based rom, it obviously doesn't matter. Curious as to why you are bothering with relocking the bootloader? But I suggest to either try a different version of the rom, or to change your recovery to one of the Philz Touch versions as that's what some of the other users in that thread for the rom for your phone were using. You can find them here:

No I was bothering to unlock it again, not lock it. Where can I find different versions for the 4.4.2 Mokee Rom? I've tried using the Philz Touch version: Motorola Atrix HD One Click Philz recovery installer and when I tried it a couple of times it said it failed to install although I'm not sure why. I came across these images the other day but how do I use the .img files on my device, as I'm not sure to proceed from here once I have them downloaded.

Okay so I'm trying it now and the program won't even open :/
Odd. I just downloaded it to test and I didn't have any issues. If you can't get the actual application / exe file to open, then just use the Main-Skip.bat. Does the same thing.
If it doesn't open still, make sure that you have your anti-virus off as sometimes those interfere with programs like this. Might also try as admin.

Okay I wasn't looking at the actual .exe sorry, I got it to work and all I installed the Philz One Touch Recovery from that program, just downloaded a different rom and all and then I select the apply update from external storage and when it gets to the verifying update package, it gave me the same error message as yesterday, Installation Aborted.
So again, how do I fix this, am I doing something wrong? Why won't my custom rom install?

I don't think that is the most updated version. What's the version number of the recovery that was installed? It should be listed on the main page of it when you boot there. I was suggesting to use one of the new ones. It might have something to do with the SELinux support that KK roms need. You just have to put the img file in the tools folder and rename the new one the same. But here's no other error that shows up other than Installation Aborted? I was thinking usually it would have an error code or some other message.Have you checked the md5 of the rom zip to make sure it's not corrupted (if the dev provided it)?

I was suggesting to use one of the new ones. It might have something to do with the SELinux support that KK roms need. You just have to put the img file in the tools folder and rename the new one the same. But here's no other error that shows up other than Installation Aborted? I was thinking usually it would have an error code or some other message.Have you checked the md5 of the rom zip to make sure it's not corrupted (if the dev provided it)?

Use one of the new versions of that program or to use the latest CWM which I have been. Okay I really don't know how to do that and where to move it to, how do I do such a thing? No it just says Installation Aborted... How would I do that? And yes I downloaded the new rom directly from his site.

Look in the tools folder of the zip you downloaded. Download the newest Philz Touch img from the other link from earlier. Rename it to replace the one in the tools folder. Redo the recovery install. But you didn't say what version you already have.

Okay that did the trick, properly got philz recovery installed, did the install again, this time it worked, clicked reboot and now it's stuck at the Dual Core bootlogo screen

Did you do a full wipe, including wiping /system?
If you didn't, it should be under Mounts and Storage > Format /system of something of that sort.

Pop the battery out for a bit, then pop it back in and hold Volume Down while powering up. Should get you into fastboot where you can skip to the recovery.

The battery doesn't come out of my phone as you can't take the back off. I got into fast boot easily them selected recovery and nothing happened, I think my phone is screwed

Oh yea, forgot you have to undo the screws on the bottom. So you scroll down to hit recovery and use the Power button to select and it doesn't do anything? That's odd.. Try and reflash the recovery since you can still get to fastboot. If that doesn't work, you're not totally screwed since you can still get to fastboot, that means you should be able to restore it to stock and start over.
Alternatively, if you have fastboot set up, you could make sure that philz touch is in the fastboot folder and use this command:
fastboot boot recovery nameofphilztouchfile.img
If you don't have fastboot, then just grab this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2317790 , drop the recovery img in that folder and open the CMD prompt on your computer and change directories to it and run the command.
