we will get jellybean on the s3 - Galaxy S III Q&A, (US Carriers)

i just got off the chat with samsung support because of the noise in the camera where there is low light and they couldnt fix it. so i asked if it would be fixed in another update and he said there werent any updates but i said in the future like android 4.1 jelly bean and he said yes but didnt have a date for the release. i told him to fix the camera tho and he said he will let the techs know.

Yea next year. Seriously, in my past experiences, whenever I asked them about software updates, the answer would be "soon". Took them months to update the us galaxy s I & II. Just recently, they updated the last galaxy s II variant to ics, days after jelly bean was announced. Our best hope is to wait for cyanogen since they're making a very good progress for our phone

Yes, Samsung is very bad with rolling out updates for their phones. With that said, it is pretty much always assumed that when you buy a high end Android device you will receive the next release of Android. However, for us, an official release will likely not be in the near future.

I don't know... my last two phones have been Samsung so I TOTALLY know how it's been in terms of updates, which is to say pretty abysmal... I kinda suspect it might be a little different this time around though, at least for JB... the S3 is their obvious flagship and is doing extremely well so I think they may not make us wait as long as in the past. I'd bet we get JB by September, probably about two months to the day that it was announced. I mean, that's two months longer than we all want it to be naturally, but it's not THAT ridiculous to me.
In my mind, more than a month after an Android release you start to moan a bit... more than two months you start to outright complain. So if they get it to us right around two months, that's not great, but it's not awful either. That my hunch anyway, based on no more information than anyone else has, just a gut feel that they won' t want to ruin what has been a pretty stellar product cycle so far overall. Remember, they pulled off a nearly simultaneous multi-carrier launch for the first time and have a lot of momentum... it would be pretty lousy to follow that up with too long a delay getting JB to us. I suspect they get that.

Jelly Bean for VZW Galaxy S3 - Q4 2012. Its an incremental update rather than fully ground up so it probably won't take as long as, for example, ICS took on many devices.
I don't have source right this second, but I'll find it soon.......

They take forever for software but damn they make worthy phones. I love my s3 and even tho I know we won't get official jb anytime within the next 6 months at minimum, I know we'll at least have cyanogenmod and aokp with it so I'm not worried about it.

Don't expect any major updates with Samsung. I have had every top end Samsung phone for AT&T and never gotten one update.
Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S III via Tapatalk II

I think the fact that the SGS3 is nearly identical across all US carriers will play a huge role in getting updates out much quicker than they have in the past. Samsung recently had a poll on facebook asking if they only made one device, which device would users prefer. This ability to only manufacture a single phone (a la Apple iPhone) would allow them to push updates in unprecedented amounts of time.

if a tree falls in the woods and noone is there to hear it...does it...
STILL MAKE NOISE???

Then you, sir, have purchased at the wrong time or are full of it. I received 2 official updates just on my Captivate.
It is not necessarily Samsung holding up the updates. Its most likely the carriers. I can only speak from experience on captivate , but the European counterpart of that devices ( the I9000) received more than 10 leaks and a couple of official Gb updates. The captivate itself had more than half a dozen leaks before the official gb update.

If youre only focusing on the official OTA updates, then yeah , it'll naturally be slow. However, considering the dedicated community we've got, we'll definetley get jelly bean relatively soon considering we got cm9 now
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda premium

Yeah, sometimes Samsung gets a *little bit* of a bad rap with updates... my experience with the Epic 4G is that although the updates didn't come as fast as we'd like at times, we DID get eventually them... we went through three versions of Android if memory serves: I believe it shipped with Eclair, and I know we got Froyo and ended up with Gingerbread. That was over a two-year period, since I got the Epic shortly after release and just updated after a two-year Sprint contract. So, I mean, three major OS revisions, plus a couple of smaller ones and a few bug/security updates mixed in there too, over a two-year period, you know, that's not too bad in my mind, even though the wait was uncomfortable a few times. If the SGS3 gets similar updates it won't be too bad in the long-run, although I certainly hope the lags between Android releases and our updates aren't quite as long, and I suspect they won't be.

Actually Samsung was one of the first OEM's to roll out ICS to it's handsets. Look at how many Motorola phones don't have it yet. Almost all of the GS2 have ISC now. The Note has it.
HTC has a bunch of relatively new phones that don't have ICS yet.
I think the S3 will be one of the first non-Nexus to get JB. Time will tell.

I'd bet that we have leaks by August and an official release the month after. So Jellybean by September.
Edit:
Forgot about carriers. Provably by November/December then but maybe Samsung can force them to update faster now that they have so much clout.

i read an article that said samsung gave the us s3 2gb of ram because they didnt know what the hardware requirements would be for jb. i had a low end prevail and in 1 year i got like 3 or 4 updates.

Agreed, I'm about ready to turn the chapter on my streak
This video has been around in the other Note forum for a while.
Frankly, it's a tease. There's something about Smasung's promises that are worth just about nothing.
For all we know, they may discontinue this product before we see anything.
I have had the Note for ages, and be the time they release anything it will be obsolete.
Heck, in Smasung's mindset, things are obsolete even BEFORE they're released

So you come from an iPhone to the Note and you automatically know everything about Samsung devices? Hmmm.
In my experience with the Captivate and Infuse, Samsung may be slow to release stuff, but they eventually get around to it. The Captivate started on 2.1, and they eventually got it to 2.2 and 2.3. The Infuse started with 2.2 and had 2.3 for a while, but they pulled it due to some issues; it will be back eventually. And that's just official updates. Samsung phones have great developer support her, my Captivate has ICS running on it, and the Infuse does now too. Premium Suite will come out when they release the official Samsung ICS for the International Note. And how can you say they are making the Note obsolete before it came out? It's still arguably the best device out there right now. And the ATT Note has been out for what, 2 months, yet we already have a stable ICS leak? Ok. I would say that's pretty damn good due to the fact that most phones don't have ICS yet, and the Note was in development before ICS was officially released anyways....therefore of course it's going to have GB when it was released.
I love how previous iPhone users think that they have the best support...One phone a year...one 'major' software upgrade a year. And no fragmentation? Hah. Bold faced lie. If there was truly no fragmentation, all iPhones, all the way back to the original, would be able to run the latest iOS in some shape or form...yet that's not the case.
When I had the iPhone 3g, it was severely crippled by iOS 4. My old Captivate now has ICS on it, and is over two years old now. Hmmm. Weird.
Not trying to bicker and fight, just pointing out that Samsung does support their devices fairly well.
I didn't mention an iPhone. Did you perhaps search my previous posts form two months ago?
And I don't think I mentioned anything about Apple support or whatever.
Samsung is a shifting entity. They are now supposedly pulling the Galaxy tab 10" and the 10" note to make changes. Thing is, this seems somewhat disorganized. It may be a good move, or not. It isn't a stable timetable.
So when they say such and such is going to happen, I'm not going to hold my breath.
Yeah, I suppose I did search it to see where you were coming from, as in my experience I have been really satisfied with Samsung products, so I get curious as to why people have complaints against Samsung. Sorry. Haha. And my reference to Apple's support came from you being on an iPhone previously, therefore that is what you're familiar with, so I compared it to my experience with both Samsung and Apple products.
Sorry if I came off a bit harsh, going on 4 hours of sleep in the last two and a half days, it's wearing on me.
Np problem, I do that also (it's fun to sneak around and check on people )
I'm just pissed that i'm stuck with the S -memo. I bought the Note for the pen really, as it's an ideal note-taker (or should I say, it COULD be ideal )
And I was waiting for the 10" and now it's all up in the Air. I'm pissed.
So I rant on, to no avail i'm afraid
Cmon now...Samsung isnt THAT bad. Honestly, if you always have to have the lastest software, the Nexus line is the best way to go. Its not like HTC, Motorola, LG updates all of their devices quickly. No brand is perfect. I would much rather have to wait a little while and get a completed update than a fast update thats buggy and half assed. And besides, most people love to flash ROMS and tons of customizations. Thats what makes us Android users and not iOS. Last week I used the iphone again and thought to myself..."this $#&@ is Boring! Unlock screen, swipe left, swipe right....all I see is bunched up icons on that never changing 3.5" screen...thats it?!?
-Once you go NOTE, you'd say 4 inches a Joke
I was one of the many who came from an iPhone. Actually, I have had every iPhone since it's inception. From time to time, I would jump and try another phone and would always go back to the iPhone. This is the first time that I switch out the iPhone and can still say It was a great choice. One of the many things that sold me was samsung's premium suite coming out. I have changed so many things on my note that I could never do on the iPhone. I guess it is just personal preference and what it is your looking for in a phone. I wanted a productivity monster that would do everything I needed or wanted and the notes does just that
Bring on premium, I am waiting impatiently
Coming from someone who had a phone made by Dell last, I would say that Samsung is LIGHTNING fast with updates, lol...

Your rant aside, that's actually a good point on iOS. Never thought about it that way. They are always quick to attack fragmentation as a benefit to being on iOS (which they feel they are immune too). I believe this picture sums it up

Been using the leaked "S Note" app on my AT&T Note and am learning to like it alot. BUT it definitely (at least for me) takes some learning and practice.
It has basically replaced the "S Memo" app.
Nice feature in "Settings" is the ability to use pen only...meaning your palm won't end up leaving marks on your note.

ICS TALK

Okay... if you clicked on this thread wondering about more ics news im sorry im not here for that today. As by now, for the time it takes me to write this im sure about 90% of you are rolling their eyes pissed because another ICS thread Is on our general.
But honestly GUYS OF THE NOTE FAMILY...IM HERE to ask from you.
You see it is nearing the end of THE month (second quarter) and there is still NO PROMISED ICS. And Not only did they promise it to us but that it was promised to us in the first quarter as well. How many of us are going to give up on Samsung OR AT&T before they actually deliver their update?
How many of us do they really need to make bitter?
Well today i say that if it doesn't come to us then let us go to it.
I, along with a couple of members are trying to work towards better Rom making. I, being that this is my first Rom cooking, have been learning and reviewing anything that I possibly can to help give my NOTE users out there a BIGGER ROM SELECTION. I need a good...scratch that. I NEED A AWESOME THEMER. IM ALSO GOING TO NEED SOME USERS TO HELP TEST THE BETA.
PLEASE!!!!! Together i know we can help make NOTE users ONCE AGAIN ENJOY XDA DEVELOPING!!!! AND ONCE AGAIN ENJOY FRESH NEW ROMS. INSTEAD OF THE SELECTION OF THE VERY FEW.
AND DON'T GET ME WRONG I MEAN NO DISRESPECT TO ANY AND ALL OF OUR DEVS WHO HAVE MADE TREMMMMMENDOUS SACRIFICES TO serve the bitter needs of OUR flashing habits.

WE WERE NEVER PROMISED ANYTHING PERIOD! It was only rumors. The first rumors were that the ICS update would be released within two weeks of the Galaxy Note being released then it went from that to by the end of the first quarter then when that didn't happen someone posted that they were told May 30th was the day it was coming so that became the new rumor then the rumor was by the end of Q2 and then someone said they were told by someone at AT&T June 22nd while someone else was saying AT&T told them July 13th. You can chalk all the dates upto rumors and nothing more. If AT&T and Samsung made any statments about it there would be no speculation. All these rumors do is cause confusion. I would bet that AT&T and Samsung also have no clue when it will be released so you know just as much as they do. They will release it as soon as its ready. They do not create updates and just sit on them so they can release them at a later date. Why do people not use common sense in these situations and realize the update simply is not ready to be released? I assure you it will be released soon all you have to do is wait. I am sure they are working super hard to get the update out to us before T-Mobile releases their Note with ICS. I would guess they have been doing a lot of extra testing to get this update released so that they stay upto date before T-Mobile releases their variant. So if the rumors are true that the T-Mobile Note is coming July 11th then you can just about bet the farm that we will have our ICS update between now and July 10th and this is the best rumor you are gonna get.
im pretty sure it was asked , in a Q&A type Note video it was on one of samsungs youtube chans and they said yes we would be getting ICS.
ICS source out in July
T-Mobile is getting ready to release it's Note around July 11th it ships with ICS out of the box, source for that will follow in about a week or two. If AT&T still wants to compete with the Note and not lose new Note customers to T-mo I would expect them to release ICS around the same time (unless somehow T-mo did get exclusive ICS on their Note for one month in north america from Sammy wich I doubt). And the new leak from DG looks pretty final so it would appear AT&T is about ready to release in July or sooner. Anyway the big thing is ICS source will be out by mid July at latest and Devs can work their magic with it. If you want to wait for your carriers official release from AT&T it may be Aug or sooner, T-mo right out of the box, Bell,Rodgers, and Telus who knows what those crazy Canadians are up to. But there is some really good ICS out now from our talanted Devs so if you really want it go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1496 :victory:
Sorry looks like T-Mo pushed back the release of their Note til Aug 8th so NO ICS Source in July (hopfully mid Aug unless AT&T updates to ICS 1st)
Ok looks like ICS in July again looks like T-Mo knows they are way late to the party and are trying to get the Note out ASAP so perhaps next week 7/14!
Looks like AT&T will release ICS update on July 10th for OTA and Samsung will release on Kies on July 8th and source will be released on the 11th
No need to wait for Tmo source is out maybe Tmo Note release will be next week?

No bashing or pun intended but i agree with this
same goes for the whole "signing petitions" thing
ATT and Samsung will do as they please and when they please....
The Infuse was lucky enough to get official GB
it runs ICS and correct me if im mistaken but there isnt official ICS
on it but it runs it perfectly... slimed down of course
but nonetheless we have an amazing phone that runs ICS already
and i have a feeling the majority of people Devs excluded just want it to OC
My note running Unofficial ICS CM9 runs smoother than a GB rom OC'd to 1.8Ghz
i know to a dev it can frustrating but the common user like us...
C'mon we have AMAZING roms.. i could care less if they release ICS for our ATT
because T-Mobile is releasing theirs with ICS... there is all the source
you need....
Plus its all rumors... Samsung or ATT didnt promise anything
they said they would be updated to ICS (Including the S2, Skyrocket, and Note)
but never EVER gave a date...

No offense I don't think Canadians are crazy (actually like that those carriers roms didn't screw with the OS as much as AT&T did with NFC and all) just can't get any info from Bell, Rodgers, or Telus ( last heard was that ICS was released in may?).
Im thinking they are just holding the release until t.mo releases their note. A very similar situation occured with my nexus s few months ago. They released ics for one varient of the nexus s then found a bug then stopped the ota then after months and months of waiting, google finally released galaxy nexus on t.mo i think atleast some u.s carrier then all of a sudden google started pushing out ics for all varients of nexus s.

And if you paid attention it was for the International Note and it did come in Q2. Samsung controls all the updates on the International Note but they do not control updates for our devices cause the carrier has a say so in what software goes on each device. So the fact is Premium Suite was released in Q2 so Samsung did keep their promise/estimated date but it had nothing to do with the I717 variant of the Galaxy Note. Now go back and watch the video again and there is not one mention of AT&T or the Galaxy Note I717 in fact in the video its not even an AT&T Note running Premium Suite. Another fact, our Note and the International Note are not the same devive and do not recieve updates at the same time. No disrespect to you or anyone else just hope this post clarifies there was never a promise made or date given for the Galaxy Note I717 ICS update.

It sucks that there was at least an announcement for international note yet we didn't even get any heads up. So Samsung expects us North American users to be the last ones to get the update and just blindly wait?
Well, back to Apple it is for my next phone then. I've never had this happen to me when I was with them.... So far my galaxy experience has been pretty bad and I thought ICS will enhance it but even that isn't smooth.... Bad taste all over with this company....

HTC has a long history of both raising and dashing hopes of Android upgrades on its devices. Moreover, the Australian network Telstra has often led that emotional rollercoaster, which means the detail on its software update page above is probably best approached with an air of detached calm. It tells us that both the HTC One XL (the global version of the American One X) and the One S have official Jelly Bean updates being "prepared" by HTC -- which is slightly more specific than what we last heard on this subject, when the manufacturer said it was "excited" about Google's latest OS version and planned to support it "across a variety" of handsets. If you happen to own a non-LTE, Tegra 3-based One X, then the absence of that handset on the list doesn't mean much -- that model simply isn't part of the carrier's line-up.

Maybe, but at least we know they're working on it. This is pretty exciting because it should mean we'll get it pretty soon as well.

We'll have it unofficially long before its ever released by HTC/Sprint
I'm mostly excited about getting the Google Now features.
I think HTC will actually hurry up with this. They released a flagship lineup about a month before announcement. If they don't update it soon, their reputation may go down the drain. A major smartphone company that cannot keep flagship device up to date is laughable. And more reasons for iSheep to take a stab at whole issue.
I know the official Evo LTE update is far off, but if official JB released on One X, maybe it will allow our amazing developers port it faster.

I kinda have it working, in a very half-assed way on Sense 4.0. Cards freeze, voice does not work, but it's an interesting idea.

I'm not as worried about HTC getting it done as much as Sprint getting their heads out of their asses and just getting it out there as soon as they get it.

Can't always go by that. Look how long it took Samsung to get Gingerbread out to the GS I variants and the GS II are just getting ICS but Samsung is still the top smartphone company in the world and the GS brand is second behind the iPhone in sales.

Yeah. The Galaxy Tab 10.1 still doesn't have ICS on it.
I will chime in and say let's not forget how quickly Sprint updated the EVO 4G from Eclair to Froyo to Gingerbread. It was technically the first U.S. phone upgraded to Froyo outside the Nexus line. It received numerous updates regularly as it was their biggest phone to date. The 3D was kind of a bastard child and came out when there wasn't any major new phone release of Android. So when ICS was announced it was back to the usual wait game. Plus all OEM's were pretty slow on ICS upgrades since it was a major upgrade instead of a point release. Since Jelly Bean is just a point release I'm sure HTC will be faster to upgrade Sense to accommodate the new features just as they have in the past. Plus as mentioned they just released all of their flagship phones so this upgrade is important for them as new flagships still have another year before release.

I can agree with this. As long as they don't screw us like they did with the EVO 3D (which is still without ICS).

Lol I know what you mean and maybe I'm just optimistic but I don't think they will. The EVO 4G LTE is now the equivalent of what the EVO 4G was back when it was released. It's Sprint's baby and they want to keep it popular. You noticed they actually have commercials and ads promoting it and how quickly they had a commercial when they released the white version. Plus the biggest thing to factor in is it's the middle of the year, there is no other EVO coming out until around this time next year, there is no next big thing for them to sit on the update so that you go out and buy it. As far as the EVO goes this is it. (I don't count phones like the design or shift cause they aren't flagships just carriers of the EVO brand name to sell phones)
I thought the One XL was the S4 version?

Well, when the EVO 3D came out, it had a lot of strong backing from Sprint commercials because of all the "Unlimited Data" commercials. It was always featured. But it quickly died off because it was literally a stepchild.

I was curious because the article mentioned something about non-Tegra devices getting upgrades, when the XL is an S4 device.
But I only skimmed, it makes more sense now that I read it more thoroughly.

Yeah I think what the article was trying to get at was that you should expect an update for the One X as well because the only phones Telstra carries are the One XL and One S so they wouldn't mention it. And HTC won't update the XL without updating the X

Any news on upcoming google phone? What phone are you getting next?

My plan expires tomorrow, I can get whatever. Any news on upcoming "google" phone?
Google hasn't release any new phone for 2012 yet...I'd hate to grab Galaxy Nexus now, then they release something newer the month after.
Since
Nexus One (release date Jan 2010)
Nexus S (Dec 2010)
Galaxy Nexus (Nov 2011)
?? (Nov-Dec 2012)
...is it safe to predict that one is due somewhere around Nov-Dec?
Apple hasn't release any iphone in 2012 also...so I think they gonna release something in late 2012 also. When it does, I think Google Nexus will be even cheaper...so I think I should wait a couple more months.
Since most of us Vibrant users plan expire at the end of late quarter of 2012, what phone are you planning to get next?
PS: If your Tmobile unlock code does does not work, try this, it worked for me

Well they usually release a new phone with new OS. Nexus S with Gingerbread, GalNex with ICS (I forgot what did Nexus One shipped with, Eclair??). With JellyBean already released just a few weeks ago, I think the chance is very slim for google to release a new phone at the end of this year.

You mean Google Nexus 7? If so, that isn't a phone though. They don't have Google Nexus yet...they have Google Galaxy Nexus. After the last time I had with OEM subsidized phone with superslow OTA update, I aint going through that again.
I'd be surprised if they released a new phone without any teasers or leaks at this point. Could be focusing on the Nexus 7 moreso, but you'd think you'd have have seen something just to get the buzz going since Apple is supposed to have the next iPhone coming out sometime late this year.
I had to put my Vibrant out to pasture a couple weeks ago, and picked up the Galaxy Nexus; it's badass. The lack of an SD slot, and the camera (good, but not great) are my only complaints but it's so smooth at stock. I don't even think I'll bother with a custom ROM at this point since stock JB runs so well. Maybe the Trinity or franco kernel later, but I almost don't know what to do with my phone since I was always tinkering and tweaking my Vibrant, heh.

I've been thinking about upgrading to the Galaxy Nexus, and was wondering about this myself I'm simply amazed at how much the devs have been able to squeeze out of this 2 year old phone. It would be kinda weird having a phone without all the little quirks and hiccups (and a working gps for that matter!).
Every time I start to get fed up with my Vibrant....BAM....the devs throw down and I'm left feeling silly for having doubted this little engine that could

There was the leak of five Nexus devices a few months ago, to celebrate the five year anniversary of the open handset alliance.
Personally, I would be shocked if there wasn't a new Nexus phone in November. They are just doing a good job at keeping it hush hush.

Yea, I would be shocked too if they got no new phone for this year since they know iphone 5 will be released in late this year. I know Google always have to try to beat iphone 5 in specs. Question is with all those patent lawsuit going trying to cripple Google Now...will be suckier or better product than existing Galaxy Nexus

Google usually brings out a new phone with a new major software update, e.g. N1 (Eclair), Nexus S (GB), Galaxy Nexus (ICS). Froyo was not a major update so no new phone, and neither is Jelly Bean; however, 'Key Lime Pie' is "supposed" to be a major update so I believe Google will be releasing a new phone around December/January.

Well, with Google phone, you don't have to worry about latest ROM from google delivered to you ontime before all other phone...you won't have problem with TMobile like we did for Vibrant. I don't trust any updates from any OEM or Carrier anymore and would not get SGS S3 If you can't wait, get the Galaxy Nexus. If I were you, I'd wait for upcoming release ...with Lime Pie as like one the user mentioned. Just keep sticking around testing new XDA Vibrant ROMs The other rumor I read that was pretty interesting is that the new battery might be in case form and flexible...so that it could have more battery life. Also Tmobile bought more spectrum for 4G LTE...and should be in 2013. If so, I hope the new phone is capable of all the spectrum...and super long lasting battery. Maybe it's just a dream. Who knows...lol

Sorry but that's pretty ugly concept with the backside and by god not Tegra. I'll stick with OMAP any day and I predict Google will go with a 2ghz dual core OMAP base on the Arm A15, rather than 4cores.

Samsung Galaxy Note aka phablet available 8/8/2012. I just saw it yesterday...it maybe kinda big for me and it's oem - do you want to go through the super slow OTA update as we did for the Vibrant again? I'd probably wait for the google version for true google experience.

Where is ICS?!!

So it is August 30 as I am sitting here typing this. I have read all the little post and updates about the Tbolt getting the ICS update by the end of August. And guess what?! Nope still no ICS update. I must have hit the "check new" button for the update a thousand times since August 1st. Wow talk about aggravating. "No new software update available yet" is all I get. So WTH Verizon?! It had been said countless of times that this update was going to happen by the END of August. Guess what? It’s the end of August. Did I miss something? Has the update window been pushed back? Just like the release date of this lemon you have sold me? Or has it just been pulled and now I will never see ICS until I upgrade to another phone?

You could download the ICS leaks from Team BAMF's site which is OK but a little buggy. Or over in the Thunderbolt Android Development forum you can find Jester's Desensed version of it or his AOSP version of ICS which works great (it'll show 1x but it's actually 3G or 4G speeds). Just my $0.02.

2 days... We all know how this works unfortunately. VZW while having great service is awful at releasing updates. Sure, HTC says they'll be done with it but then it still has to be vetted by VZW (unless they've changed their process). I'm no expert and I don't have any inside knowledge but I'd put money on late September at the earliest.

I have been running different ROMs for the last year and a half. Pretty much since I have had this phone. I went back to S-off so I could try the actual OEM update. If I don’t get my fix soon I am going to have to try the leaked ICS that’s out there now. I am just putting a little faith in the official update with Verizon to see if this hype has been worth the wait. I have been unrooted since the first. I think I am going through withdraws lol.

I know the feeling. I unrooted yesterday so that I could call in for my replacement and ship the old one back today and I hate it. I hate not being able to tinker. I was working on a reworked framework-res.apk so the APN list would show up right on Jester's ICS and made a little progress but the TB just got worse and worse. I'm running stock GB and it's not better or worse (connectivity wise) than any other ROMs. I loved this thing when it first came out. This will be my 4th TB now, I just want a phone that works properly.
To the OP: try out Liquid's ICS (AOSP). There is data (I get 3-5Mbs in Minneapolis), it is smooooooth, it has great battery life, and it is pure ICS (zero laggy Sense involved). For all of those waiting for the official ICS release, please try out Liquid's ICS. It will hold you over until the "real" thing comes. (But quite frankly, I could use this ROM for rest of my Thunderbolt's life).

+1. but it has bugs on mine, a lot of FCs and battery life is shorter than on most GB ROMs.
Not gonna happen, well at least this month. its the 31st. there's a posting on Droid life but doesn't explain why and when its actually going to be released. So, I think we're left with buggy leaks. I don't know why even post an actual date release if too buggy. Look when an actual leak came out a week before the real deal ICS.
I'm eventually going to jump ship so as my upgrade kicks in. I hate the fact that the TB is an awesome phone but far as updates are concern, its really bad. Someone posted that HTC is preparing their server for an actual release sometime soon. Don't quote me on this, I read it on another site. We'll see, we have till midnight at least.
I have pretty much tried every ROM out there for the TBolt. I went from ROM to ROM every week. I had hoped that the ICS was going to be here by now. But yeah I may just have to check out the leaked ICS that is available now.... What a shame to be once again let down.

If ur not runnin some form of ics on the tbolt, its a you problem. People need to quit complainin and run one of the 3 ics roms we have. Geeez, verizon owes people nothing, but the devs have given us ics options.

That's RIDICULOUS, we'd rather whine about it!
If enough people whine about problems (almost all of their own making!) I'm sure HTC and Verizon will release the update sooner, right? :highfive:
My T'Bolt is an almost perfect phone, I've tried the ICS leak and gone back to my previous ROM. I don't give a rat's rear end if they EVER release ICS but can we PLEASE STOP WHINING ABOUT IT?
Thank you!

The more you whine, the more HTC/Verizon will push back the update. Kind of like when we all were younger, our parents never gave us what we wanted until we stopped whining. Beggers can't be choosey I guess is the saying. Unless of course you were a little spoiled brat lol.

Yeah, but once its out and you except the OTA update, you might not be able to root for a while if the bootloader becomes locked and there's no method of unlocking it. Just sayin.

whenever i see a new leak i get excited and pee on the carpet. then flash every ROM i can find for a few weeks but i always seem to go back to plain old CM7.
I believe I have every right to whine. I paid to own this phone. I have paid to use this phone every month. I believe just by those two things I have every right to whine. The TBolt has been put into last place since before it was ever released. I am now stuck with this phone and I am tired of being put on the back burner.... Sorry I was whining but I feel better now
