This is going to be a REALLY obscure request, but here we go:
I'm looking for an app or some kind that can emulate a touchscreen's functionality using a trackpad or d-pad already built into the phone. This is something like the Motorola Charm, where that trackpad on the back emulated a cursor on the screen for you to move and click around with, and it would act as if you physically touched the screen when you clicked the pad. I'm looking for this because it would be nice to have a fallback in case my screen stops working, and it would also be nice to be able to click some things in certain apps that won't let you use a d-pad, requiring the use of the touchscreen. (I'm not a fan of touchscreens, but I ended up with an Android phone. Go figure.)
Is there ANYTHING like this out there, or is it way too obscure for anyone to have ever bothered making?

Can someone make a zunehd lock screen for winmo? It works really well and looks good so I wanted to run it on my TP. I don't imagine it would be difficult. I wish I could write one, but I'm just getting into this stuff.
Thanks.

You should not open new threads requesting software here. There is a part of the forum for Questions and Answers where you can request this kind of stuff (link). Also, you have a TP2 and this section is only for the TP.
Just so you know, other than the section that I just pointed for you, you shouldn't open new threads unless you are contributing somehow to the community (roms, apps, themes, tips, fixes, etc). Thanks for understanding...

I already put one in the right forum after I realized it. I actually mistyped, I have a TP. I was just thinking about a TP2 when I typed that lol. Sorry I have been lurking around here a long time, but new to posting.
This thread can be deleted if a mod is reading.
I did a forum search and surprisingly didn't see anything come up for this. At any rate, someone ported libpurple over to android but it lacks a gui, and probably needs a bit of polish.
I don't have enough posts to link to the project page but if you google pidroid it's the first result that pops up, some guy at university of waterloo in canada did the libpurple port, with the files available to download.
Maybe someone here could pick up the project and make an app out of it? I know myself and alot of others I know that use pidgin would love an android port, specifically for the OTR stuff.
1up: i would love pidgin on android

Hi there,
Noob here...
I bought myself a Galaxy Note with the hope of being able to use it and it's Stylus to help me with my day to day work. Unfortunately there is no app currently out there that does what I want so I tried to create my own. Being a noob, and being pathologically averse to actual coding all I managed to do was find an online CMS system that allowed me to get a bare bones version running. While it works, its not perfect, and I like perfect. So I'd like to find someone that is good with PDF creation type apps to create / finish off my little project.
Its a simple concept and I don't think will be very hard for someone that see's life like the matrix as most developers I know do... So is there anyone out there that freelances or has a couple of days free I can use to get my project finished??a
Thanks
DLF

Nook Tablet is known to have "extended USB" connector with bunch of extra pins in addition to standard microUSB's 5, and it seems it is the same (at least mechanically) as on Nook Color. Unfortunately, I wasn't able more specific information about the connect than this thread, and Novaports teardown picture which clearly (well, blurily) shows 17 pins, half of them apparently connected to something more interesting than power and ground.
So, is there updated information on this matter? I know folks here made hardware mods while cracking open the Tablet, so I don't believe it could escape their scrutiny. I don't suppose there's UART in there, but well, who knows, maybe charging LED is controlled by full-fledged GPIO for example ;-)

I agree about putting it in the right forum, but this could lead to some interesting development. I would like to know what the pinout is as well. I tried finding out what the pinout was for the evo shift some time back. I had an idea for a dock/case combo that would allow full use of the physical keyboard as well as docking inside a vehicle. I had no luck with finding the pinout, so that idea went into the scrap pile.
I hope a mod simply moves this to the right thread instead of locking or deleting it.

This. It's starting to get annoying with all of these "mods" that aren't actually mods.
I'm sorry if this was wrong place to post this, but this is indeed more of a development question, not a random newbie's one. I did my homework, but didn't find anything regarding Nook Tablet, so figured this is a worthy topic for device enablement, and I collected initial information and links to objective info in the first message.
My second idea was to catch attention of AdamOutler and other experienced developers.
Again, I'm sorry if with all this motivation it was still wrong to post here. And I understand the mods - XDA-Developers is a huge place, so without keeping it organized it would be havoc. But I hope there's difference between "How do I install Angry Birds?"/"How to replace back cover?" and "Let's collect all info on specific device enablement feature in one visible and easily found thread in the forum where interested people will likely look for it".
Just because it can lead to development doesn't mean it is. You can always ask a MOD to move it when it is appropriate.
If you don't like people stating the rules and asking you to follow them, then I would advise you follow them. You don't have to be a mod to ask people to do so.
There is a Q&A section now that is for people's questions.

The development section is not for questions, even if they are Dev related. Please post in the Q&A section. It is not my job to move threads around, you should post in the correct section.
Please dont get into a argument over the legitimacy of a threads location. Just use the report button and a moderator will act accordingly
Want to use my Acer tablet for GPS in the car. Would like to plug in a USB camera into the USB port and run to the rear of the car to act as a "backup" camera or "see behind" camera. Have not found any apps in the Android markets that will work. Any help would be appreciated

Not heard of one but maybe the brains on this! Excellent site may have an idea. I've got a spare HD one knocking about so would love to do the same. Wish I'd thought of it first lol. Good luck and will keep checking back myself.
