I've had it with Motorola. I can't wait anymore. But I am currently baffled with the various ways to get to ICS from stock.
(And not just stock mind you, 65.1.40.XT910.Retail.en.IL)
I'd be grateful if someone could explain what steps exactly must I take to get ICS running on my RAZR and if there are any drawbacks or things that are not working with the current releases.
(I swear I'm not stupid. Both my Milestone and SGS were easier to upgrade! )
Thanks!

This thread is useful for you, the process is not complicated. and the result is %100 smooth and perfect, i was on 2.3.6 European, then 672.180.33 [European leak] then the small update 676.226.3 [European update]. Working perfectly smooth and awesome.
The difference is that you are on different REGION ROM, which you will first need to Fastboot to European ROM and then UPDATE to 4.0.4.
Good luck

I also just noticed your region is IL, note the European Official leak does NOT have Hebrew locale (keyboard language) by default, but you still can read thru web pages and messages etc. If you install the European leak, and still want Hebrew then i advice you download the beta.swype.com keyboard which contains all languages. Otherwise, you would want to flash the ASIA Retail fastboot ROM which does have Hebrew locale.

Exactly. Make sure you choose the correct Region you want to be on, There is a difference between PSHAsiaRetail and AsiaRetail. I believe the latter will have Hebrew but not sure about the PSH.

Ah, thanks! I prefer my phones in English either way, the only reason I'd need Hebrew is if I decide to sell my phone

I am new and have never done any rooting/flashing. I am currently using GTI9100 (bought new and unlocked) in USA. I have a couple of question:

I have been checking KIES everyday and still no updates. Anyone knows the projected date of official ICS for my phone?
2. Can someone give me a link of threads for the most current ICS ROM tutorial for my phone if I want to do ICS updates now?
3. For my case, do I root or flash? I am not quite sure of the difference. I just want to use ICS system and have no other needs.

First, this forum doesnt admire lazy people.
There are lots of people that can help you with your problems, but you have to try to do it yourself.
Im not sure if there is an official version of ICS for S 2.
If you want to update it yourself you go to Android development and choose a rom.In the thread you will find what exactly you have to do in order to flash the rom.But before that, you have to flash a CF root kernel for your modem, in order to get a Clockwork mode working, from CWM you can flash your ICS or GB as you wish.
You can find the instructions on how to flash a CF root kernel in here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1331784
Read carefully, everything.
But, to be more specific you arent missing anything by not running ICS.

Intratech's official firmware thread. Found quite easily with a search, or in the stickies in the General section. Alternatively, Official Stock ICS Firmwares, courtesy of Faryaab. Stickied in the Original Android section, right at the top.

No offense, but if you're not sure of anything, your "answer" to his question will only serve to confuse him more.
There IS an official version of ICS.
You do NOT need to root to update to the official Samsung released ICS.
He COULD flash a CF-root kernel, but that isn't what he asked for, and given that he didn't ask to root, but asked specifically for ICS, this doesn't help him.
Read, read, read.....and for the love of god back up your efs!

If you go to "about phone", you can find the cyanomedmod version...search in the forum for an updated version and follow the guide to update it.
Could be fixed you know and the CM9 is a good OS.
If all else fails then flash back to stock

I'm not sure about your Phones Region (Asia / EU / Latam)
You only can flash the right one for your Phones Region!!!!
Sent from my CustomiZed XT910
the region does not really matter. its mostly if the phone is from CDMA or GSM based stock. the region more or less implies the update path/carrier options preloaded on the phone.
correct me if im wrong =_= haven't had my coffee for the day
The Region does matter. If you wanna flash an Latam Rom on an EU RazR, you have to delete your CID (mmmcblk1p18) or you will get an cdt.bin failure. And it's not that easy to get your CID back, when you got no backup of YOUR's.
Only the Asia & EU Fastbootfiles can be changed without that.

I'm new to Motorola Razar,I really need help for the specific steps
Hi All,
First of all I would like to thank everyone at XDA who has invested their lives to make our phones look and work better day by day...
I am very confused right now and have been searching the whole internet for three weeks now but didn't got any solution as yet.
I have got a Motorola Atrix 4G from Korea that has the following information:
Model : MB860
S/W Version : 4.5.2A- SKT-167
Android Version : 2.3.5
Kernel Version : 2.6.32.9- 00004-gfbc 746e
My problem is that the stock rom currently installed is flooded with Korean language. I want to put a pure english stock rom into my Atrix that has all the stock options enabled. Which rom is suitable for this purpose and also as Korean SKT version doesn't have SBF files over the internet, therefore how can I restore to stock if things went into the wrong direction. BTW I have already rooted my phone.
While searching, found some files at "main.develoid.com:81/%40%20MOTOROLA/Atrix/" that I am not sure helpful for any thing or not.
Thanks in advance for all your help and support.
Ignore this and search for "how to know if my atrix is bell or ATT", then flash the proper sbf

Thanks for ur reply but I am already aware of this fact that my Atrix is not from any of these two i.e. ATT or Bell. My phone is from Korea and is from SK Telecom South Korea. It is a MB860 with SKT software version.
The SKT is the version of the rom. There are only 2 atrix models: ATT and Bell. It doesnt matter where are you from, my Atrix is Bell and we dont even have it in Brazil...

I have googled but haven't been able to find anything useful regarding ATT and Bell. Have found a new info as the FCC ID for ATT and Korean Atrix are different
ATT Atrix 4G FCC ID: IHDP56LS1
My Korean Atrix 4G FCC ID: IHDP56LS2
I am not sure as if this has something to do but I considered it worth sharing...

Please remember that questions go in the Q&A section.
Contrary to what was posted earlier, there are three Atrix models (MB860, MB861, and ME860). But you seem to know which one you have already. Also, never flash an SBF unless you have no other choice.
Did you try going to Settings, Language & keyboard, Select locale and see if you can choose English? Might not work because I think that is the Korean GB235 software.
Is the device rooted with an unlocked bootloader? If so, you should be able to flash a AT&T stock fruit cake.

Thanks for your reply. My apologies for posting into the wrong section.
Right now my phone is rooted but not unlocked yet. I wanted to be safe before I can actually modify it. Least I could have a restore point to return. Thats why asking the experts for an advice.
My only issue is not the language but most of english characters are shown wrong whenever I receive a SMS. Can only have caller ID for SMS (contact numbers with +) or for the call (removing the + sign from all contact numbers). Can only send SMS with 80 characters otherwise it is converted into a MMS.
Instead of solving all these issues one by one, I believe installing a stock english rom would solve my problem. The only problem is that I am not sure which ROM can I use and what can I do if I end up into a soft brick phone.
Thanks again for taking the time to look into my problem.

Text information will probably never display properly with the Korean OS. Probably a combination of language and carrier differences.
Flashing an English ROM will solve your problems. Be sure to follow instructions for unlocking the bootloader for the Korean Atrix in the dev section. You can install any custom ROM. You can also install a stock ROM, but may have to make changes to locale and APN settings - no biggie.

Just to be clear, when I say stock ROM I mean a fruit cake. Some associate stock with sbf. As I said before, never flash an sbf (OK, only once when unlocking your bootloader). I recommend flashing this fruit cake to get you started. If you are not on AT&T, look here for changing your APN. But the very next step you take will be to unlock your bootloader. Worry about the rest later.
Thx for everything
I will unlock the bootloader tomorrow.
For the ROM, are u advising me to flash stock ATT fruitcake. Would ATT software be compatible with my phone's hardware?
Plz accept my apologies for bring unnecessarily demanding but I am very cautioned about flashing my Atrix mainly as it lacks support from Motorola.

Yes, AT&T fruit cakes will be compatible You can flash any fruit cake you want, you will just need to makes the changes I posted earlier.
The one thing I forgot to mention before: depending on your country and carrier, you may need to flash a different radio. Those are available at the Atrix Reboot Project.
Once your bootloader is unlocked you can flash or restore anything want. Your phone will be free!

Please advise if my backup is accurate. Also direct me to the place where can I drop these files to help other users with a similar phone.

Backup strategy is correct. The fruit cake won't work as is. Upload workdir or the zip to the Atrix Reboot Project and I'll fix it and put it back.
Edit: You can also post a dropbox link. Whatever works.

I would recommend MRom(build on CM7.2) which is pretty decent especially in regard of battery life, until they create a firm version of this ICS leak. It's probably going to be a Jelly Bean release because some guy succeeded to create a JB rom out of this leaked Atrix 4G ICS leak.

I'm definitly a noob and still trying to fill the gaps in my knowledge. Right now I still cannot figure out how to even root my phone (MB860) running android 2.3.4. I would really appreciate some advice from one of you. Is there any chance I can call one of you? I am in England but just bought 2 hrs of American minutes. I also have skype.
If any of you are interested in helping out a noob I would much appreciate it. I am technically very savvy, I'm just unclear as to the interfaces of Linux and Android and the different tools out there.
Before you tell me to, I have already read the thread for noobs.
Do let me know

If all you want to do is root you can check out superoneclick root, it did the job for me on the last available GB update released. But remember that you have to have the proper drivers installed and that this does not allow you to flash custom roms, it simply gives you root access.
The drivers can be found here (I think).
superoneclick can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682
also make sure to read a bit from that thread.
If you are a n00b don't install THAT rom... it's very unstable..
superoneclick rocks
superoneclick rocks, as does cwm recovery. Install both, and don't look back.
well , i managed to unlock bootloader and install recovery and now i just flashed cm10 by epinter
i love it

anything available in the root department yet? or the knox removal for that matter?
not a big deal what languages are available though, more concerned about the root and knox, but gonna flash the rom itself tonight to see if dutch is available as well.
It's only just out so nothing custom yet. I've messaged wanam requesting him to work his magic. Hopefully things will start rolling soon.

it takes a while to get their touchwiz working completely for a huge list of different devices and in all fairness 4.4 came not that long after 4.3
as soon as samsung manages to deliver 4.4 with touchwiz, google has released a new android version again so samsung will always be lagging behind
too bad the camera in aosp roms isn't compareable to the stock samsung one otherwise i would've been on 4.3 aosp or 4.4 already as well, its one of the only things actually holding me back of flashing aosp roms ^^ (also sound in some roms is kinda low by default)

his xposed module works in 4.3 roms though ^^ been using it on the skynote 3 rom
but i'm gonna flash the stock rom later today and wait till there's root and such, untils it becomes available. don't believe its impossible to revert back to 4.1.2 stock if i want rooted stuff ^^
Anyone knows is there a stock Stock 4.3 TW for Korean variant?

don't think so honestly, otherwise people would've succesfully done that with the skynote 3 from the at&t thread
also no root available yet, but as soon as root becomes available, you can use devilkernel,
currently i'm using skynote3 (at&t leak) with devilkernel ^^ but rather have the official as i reckon that one is more bugfree than a leaked rom ^^
you could try if the skynote3 rom is more to your liking, it works (mostly) but there are some bugs present, it has root and no knox.
Can this ROM be installed on a Korean Note 2 (e250s) with a boot converter?
I mean if I can use N7105 modem?
Thanks.

As far as i know, the converter is only used for AOSP.Can it be worked for TW?
i only need root for "greenify" and filemanager. but i definitely need recovery.
most the apps i use dont really need root. but i wouldnt want a non rooted phone. funny enough

Don't know what ROM you have been using but IMO 4.4 has a better cam. My wife has the exact same phone. Fully stock. And my cam makes hers look like its from the old razrs

what's android kitchen? still got around 30 min left on the download but could look into the android kitchen stuff.
my rom officially is from t-mobile netherlands, but i do not specifically need a t0ltetmo rom as the only thing different for my device when flashing my stock rom is the t-mobile apps and the boot screen from them.
its not like i have a special contact app like AT&T has or anything like that in my stock rom.
GT-N7105 (t0lte) is the one i'm normally aiming for, the rom released for nordic countries doesn't look carrier specific to me either. reckon the only thing that i do need root for is the language enabler, don't know if netherlands is unlocked as a locale by default. I did run stock unrooted rom the last few weeks until someone pointed out last week the at&t 4.3 leak worked on the 7105 models as well, so i got myself root again and installed it. I don't really run any other apps that require root normally.

i've tried the first omnirom 4.4 when it got released but the camera didn't function at all for me, later i read up and noticed that most 4.4 issues where related to twrp recovery, flashing with cwm 6.0.4.1 should've worked but was already playing with skynote by then
its not just quality though, its the fact that samsung has a built in anti-shake option, and i can't seem to get steady shots without it, my hands are shaking a little bit and i can't seem to keep my device steady enough without it. (haven't seen that option in the aosp camera's)
camera worked on 4.3 aosp roms for me, but i didn't like the quality from those, and again the shaking of the hands didn't help either

as far as i read up (including the thread it linked to for the 7105 and such) you need to be rooted in order to flash the rom after you customized it with the kitchen.
as the kitchen creates a flashable zip and not an odin flashable file.
