WBR.
Come on guys
Someone must know how to sort this out??
can it be fixed?
its in warrenty, but not sure if they would be able to tell what i have done
Have you tried just flashing the ROM again?
Can you still enter the bootloader ?
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Athena_Resets
Cant see the phone
hi, i cant re-rflash as when i connect to the pc, it does not see it,
thinking the only way im going to get this sorted out is to return it to t-mobile, just hope it would still be under warrenty, anyway i could cover it,
maybe a magnet stuck to it for a few days might help when they check it over??
thanks
just tried hard reset and bootloader reset again, with batter in, charger in, just charger ect
still no rwesponse
just red ring of dead around joystick, when using charger only
Try this, exactly:
- disconnect any cable;
- remove the battery;
- the SIM;
- wait 10 seconds;
- put the battery back;
- enter bootloader (camera button - pressed down all the way - with comm. manager + reset).
If you don't get the bootloader screen (with various color stripes on the screen), then yes, your Athena's unfortunately bricked.
Nooooooooooooooo
nothing at all mate,
but i guess the battery could be flat,
is there no way to get it to power up,
do you think i could send it away under warrenty?

Anyone near you that can lend you a fully charged battery? Alternatively buy a cheap spare battery.
@onkyojonny
Where are you located?
im near ashford in east sussex, and work in london, if someone can sort it out im happy to make a donation ;-)
thanks
Concerning the return, if you're not able to enter even bootloader mode, all that will be left is to return it, but it's indeed true that if they see your SPL's modified, for instance, they might send it back to you with a "sorry" note. :-S
is there noone on this forum that can sort it out??
rather that than send it back,
Bootloader's the absolute minimum that you need to recover from apparent bricking. If you don't, then I don't know of any "software" mean to rescue your Athena, alas.

Hi
I just had this happen to me, but for completely different reasons. I left my Athena on charge for an hour when the battery was at 10%. It then showed 60%. I then wanted to check that my spare battery had some charge, so I swapped battery and got into exactly the same situation that you have, red light on charger and nothing on either battery.
After reading this forum I tried procedure of taking everything out inc. SIM and leaving it for a minute, still no joy on the 1st battery. Left it again for a minute and tried the 2nd battery and it came to life instantly and booted. The 2nd battery reports 100% charge.
I would suggest that you buy / borrow a battery and try it. It is highly frustrating that you can't use the Athena mains only & swap batteries, but you can't, I tried. If you order a battery (I got one for £11, it is a Cameron Sino which have a bad reputation but it lasts all day, can't argue with that) you should get it tomorrow in the post.
I will see if now that it is working the OEM battery works. It may be that it has not charged properly.
Hope you get it working again.

Follow up, yes it worked when I put the OEM battery back in, still with the SIM out. I have now put the SIM back in and the 2nd battery & all OK. Very unscientifically I would say that taking everything out & using a fresh battery seems to have fixed mine.
yes, one of my (aftermarket) batteries produced the same symptoms just yesterday. it was in a near fully discharged state (< 5%)... so i wanted to put it in the athena and charge it. but athena would not turn on, just the red light. charging did not make a difference.
put the other battery back that was in it previously, it booted instantly, then i put the discharged one in and it still booted and then i was able to charge it up.
note: at other cases i can still boot the athena with such a discharged battery, they have enough juice in them, apparently the problem was something else.
...though i have a desktop charger for the thing.. just didn't feel like trying to dig it up. anyway here is a cheap battery AND desktop charger: http://cgi.ebay.com/Battery-Charger...hZ010QQcategoryZ20350QQtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItem
the charger should charge your battery up without having to buy a new battery (except the seller gives you one as a bonus) and hope it has enough charge in it. might help someone hopefully

Not a rip off on postage either - bargain, so just ordered one as a spare.
Thanks for the heads up.
Hi I just recently bought an HTC HD2 and I got it used. I checked out the phone pretty well and it worked fine when I purchased it. I got home and the battery was dying and eventually died before I got a chance to charge it. So I left it on the charger, the LED light came on and was flashing as if it was charging so I went out for a bit. Once I came back I noticed the LED wasn't on anymore so I tried to start up the phone and the phone wouldn't turn on. I took out the battery and put it back in still nothing. I've even tried using a different battery and still have the same results. I talked to T-mobile and they said to try going into boot mode by powering up holding both volume keys and the power button and I cant get it to start up at all. Anyone have any ideas as to what could be wrong?

When battery is charging the LED does not flash. Normally it just lights in orange. Are you sure that the second battery you used was well charged? Take a tester and measure the voltage on the battery pads - it must show some 3.8 volts. You may check also if your battery is charging on some other phone to confirm that it is healthy before to decide that phone is dead.

just shows what tmo customer support know, , , thats a hard reset they've described, not entering bootloader.
Ok so on my lunch break I went to the t-mobile store and told them my problem, for some reason they were able to get my phone to somewhat charge and start up. So its for sure the battery. I have no idea why the secondary battery I used had no effect on the phone. After work I'm going to go find a new battery and hopefully this will solve the problem. I'll keep you guys posted.
winner!
.....
My Rezound is broken
I unlocked and de-sensed it, but that was when the unlock first came out and it's been working fine since, so I don't thing that's the problem.
The phone won't come on, and when I plug it in the charge light doesn't even come on. If I leave it plugged in, then take the battery out and put it back in the charge light comes on for a few seconds, then turns off.
I was at a new years party the night before and I may have laid down on top of it while it was in my pocket, but the water sensors are fine, and I don't remember it ever getting wet.
I notice there are a lot of connections between the phone and the back cover. Is it possible that something could be bent and these connections aren't being made, so the phone refuses to do anything? I tried putting wires across them where they would normally be connected, but it didn't seem to help.
So what do you guys think? Is there something else I can try? I guess if it's totally broken then they can't tell that it's unlocked, so I could try getting a replacement :/
First off, I wouldn't have put any wire across any of the antenna leads like that. Second, if the phone is not coming on with the cover off then you may have another problem. The phone should turn on without the cover. You just wouldn't have signal.
My opinion, try another batter if you know anyone who has one. Or maybe go to your VZW store and see if they will let you use one of theirs. If the battery/phone is too hot the LED will blink orange, once it is cool enough, or full enough to turn on/charge again it will become solid. The fact you get an indication when there is no battery leads me to believe there may be a problem with the battery itself.
with the phone off, pull the battery for several minutes. Then put it back in and plug it in to the charger. Do not try and turn the phone on. If the charge light comes on and stays on, just let it charge for a few hours until it turns green.
I've read of rezounds dying from the battery going completely out. Screws it up somehow. Verizon also has thunderbolt external chargers for 5 bucks. You could use that to charge the battery (it fits), then try and turn it on. If it still won't turn on after charging, put the battery in and try and boot into the bootloader menu (power on and vol down at the same time), from there you can restore your nandroid or flash another ROM if it will boot to it.
I tried leaving the battery out for a few minutes, and then for the rest of the day. No dice in either case. I'll try to get an external charger tomorrow :/
Thanks for the ideas, I'll let you know how it goes.
Mine died overnight. Same symptoms, charging light for a few seconds then nothing. I plugged it in, let it sit for a while (didn't time it, but not more than 15 minutes). Unplugged it, then: held power, volume up and volume down all at the same time. It booted up, as soon as the screen came on, I plugged it back into the charger. Running fine now. Hope this helps someone else.
Went to Verizon today. I bought another battery and ordered an external charger. Swapped in the new battery and the phone started right up
Now I just hope I didn't screw anything up messing with the antenna contacts :/

After getting the new battery, does the orange LED come on while charging the phone when powered off? I replaced my battery after having the same problem and now the orange light does not stay on while the phone is charging when it is powered off. I guess it's no big deal, but it bothers me.

Yeah, it still works just fine. I turned it off just now and then plugged it in to check and the charging light came on immediately.
Maybe the battery is faulty or you got a thunderbolt battery by mistake and the phone is confused? Otherwise I have no clue why that would happen :/
I have them same problem. My phone is completely dead, won't turn on and a orange light comes on for 3 seconds and goes away and nothing happens. What do I need to do?
Sounds like your battery died. Pull the battery and let it sit for a few, then try to boot it back up and plug it in immediately.
I was reading a thread about this last night on RootzWiki. Dude did a lot of testing, came to find out it was ClockWorkMOD keeping a completely dead battery from charging at all. Is that the recovery you have? If so, I would put AmonRa on, try that.
Agreed, almost definitely a dead battery. You can try this:
1) Take out the battery and put it back in
2) Hold down power and volume down to enter the bootloader
3) Immediately plug the phone in and leave it there for 10 minutes or so
4) Reboot the phone now that you have enough power to make it through booting
This should work as long as your battery is completely dead.
My suggestion for the future though is to buy an external charger and a second battery. That's what I did, and now any time I accidentally let my battery die I just swap it out and I'm good to go at 100% while the other one recharges. Also an external charger is the easiest way to fix this if your battery is too dead for the above method.

Also, remember that if you are using Clockwork Recovery for some reason that makes the phone not charge when its powered down. I had the similar issue where i couldnt get it to charge or come on at all, i put in a battery from my TBolt and it turned right on, switched Recovery to Amon Ra (Blue one, not the Red one) and from there it charged no problem!

this worked for me! thank you!! also to come to think of it, the problem happened after installing clockworkmod recovery. so there certainly seems to be a connection

This absolutely helped me! I'm really liking this Rezound I picked up but the damn thing is also just very temperamental in general. Still a fantastic underrated device overall though.
My wifes d2g did that once. I ended up taking an old charger, stripping the ends off and taping it to the contacts on the battery for 30 minutes. It charged it up and after that it would charge thru the phone again. A lot cheaper than a new battery.

Hey all I was wondering if anyone could help me with my HTC Amaze. It stopped turning on maybe a month ago. I was sleeping and forgot to charge the phone so I woke up in the morning and put it on the charger and went back to sleep. When I woke up again there wasn't an LED light or anything. Eventually after messing around with it for a while the orange light would turn on for maybe 10 seconds then it would turn off and the phone would vibrate for a while and turn off too. I went on eBay and bought a new battery that came with an outlet charger. Waited a while then it finally came I charged the original battery as well as the new one. The phone still won't turn on, but now the orange LED light will stay on and after a while the green light will come on. I'm not tech savvy so I never rooted or unlocked my phone or whatnot I've just been using it normally since I've gotten it. I tried to make a claim from Asurion but they won't cover it without the deductible so I thought I'd try here before I just gave up and got a new one. If anyone can help please me please help. =)
There have been some posts of battery issues. Have you tried a different battery?
yep . i tried to charge the battery on the adapter and use the origional/new battery with no luck. :crying:
If it goes green, the battery says full charged, you're not telling us something.

Before when it first wouldn't turn on, when i tried to charge it, the orange light would come on for 10 seconds before turning off and vibrating periodically. Now the phone will act like it's charging (staying orange for a long time then turning green). But when I wait until it's green and try and turn it on no avail.

Something could've gotten loose and normal shaking in the weeks to follow probably finished the job getting it undone. Did you call your carrier or HTC about it?
Just tell them it randomly shut down after the ICS update and then eventually it stopped coming on or something, yes I know that's lying, but I don't think hardware is usually covered under warranty, unless it was faulty from the get go.
try removing the back cover and pressing the power button. the button on my back cover doesn't work as well as it used to, it'll power the screen on when it feels like it....must've come loose.

-Also, did you buy the phone new? And you said you didn't root/unlock? If you bought it used the person before you may have installed a custom recovery.
very weird i agree just call htc and say you phone got messed up doe to the ics ota update im sure they will replace it :laugh:
The battery in my Amaze 4G had gone bad. After full charge it would barely last a half hour, and took forever to charge. So I bought a new battery, and put it in the phone. It powered on to the T-mobile 4G screen, and then turned off. My problem now is, the phone won't power up, and when I plug it in the charger, I get nothing, no LED charging light, nothing. It won't even power on. It's completely dead. Even when I put the old battery in, I get the same result, nothing, where as, everything worked before I put in this new battery. I really need help on this, and I hope someone can help me out on this. Thanks.

-> remove the battery for 30 mins.
-> and after 30 mins charge the phone without battery for 1 hour.
And after that push your battery back and try to go in recovery by those keys.
