I'm not sure what's happening, but every time I use Astro to move files, after a while they vanish.
I've searched and not found an answer, I don't know if it's Astro or a phone issue.
Xperia S using stock NL .73 ROM.
I've tried moving using copy and move, into new folders and existing ones, if I look straight after they are there, after a while they're gone.
Not got anything installed that I can think of like A/V etc.
Any ideas?

No idea but it has happened to me on occasion with astro, on unrooted stock .67 (stupid o2)
I use a different file browser now because i kept losing pictures. Shame really because i really like astro.
Try using ES File Explorer I've used this for ages and never had a problem, it's a free one from the play store

Tested ES, so far that's not deleted anything!

Another good thing about ES File Explorer is that you can connect to your box account and batch upload, plus you can connect to your pc via wifi

I never had files missing from the phone, but from the Windows Explorer after moving them on the phone.
For example, when I renamed the Video folder to Videos, nothing showed up. When moving the files back to the Video folder, they immediately showed up again.

For mine, I have moved my apks to the SDcard (for those that can be moved) and sometimes the apks will go missing. They will only re-appear when I do a reboot. Strange.

Known issue and is off-topic to this thread.
I advice XPlorer by LonelyCatGames.
I see this file in the root of my sdcard using ES File Explorer and don't know what it is. I did have the EBay app on my phone but I uninstalled it awhile back. Is it safe to delete this file?
It sounds like a log from that app, so it should be. To bee sure, read it and see. My sd card is full of old crap from uninstalled apps.

Gotcha...thanks.
Hello,
This is the first time I have rooted a phone and the first time I have posted in these forums. The forum wouldn't let me post over there as a rookie, so if this isn't the right place, please forgive me.
I read the entire 39 pages of open1your1eyes0's [GUIDE] Root for Verizon Galaxy S4 ***VRUAME7 Build Only!***
thread and got my S4 rooted. Yeah, baby!!!!
The forum wouldn't let me post over there as a rookie, so if this isn't the right place, please forgive me.
I'm stuck at this point with trying to prevent Verizon with cramming another crap update down the gullet of my phone.
I grabbed ES File Explorer from the Play Store, found the fwupgrade, apk file, tried to rename it and it keeps telling me "Task is Failed." I tried to do the same with the sdm.apk file with the same results.
Could someone help me out a bit and maybe point out if I have missed a step or something?
Thanks!
You have to go into root explorer options and mount the system as r/w.

That and change them back to read only after you rename them.

Thanks for the response, Hexitnow, but where do I find that?
I found a Root Explorer "on" and "off" toggle over in the menu, but I'm not finding anything else there or in the settings...

Long press the app in your file manager and it should give you an option for permissions.

When I long press, it highlights the app, selects it with a little check box next to the app, and places empty text boxes next to every other app in that file. Along the bottom of the screen, the options change to copy, cut, delete, rename (which I have tried repeatedly), and three dots saying more. Under more, it has hide, add to desktop, share, install, open as, add to favorite, send, compress, extract to, open, properties, move to and copy to.
Thanks for sticking with me on this, btw. I'm typically great with this type of stuff, but I'm just not seeing it on this one.

I use root explorer and that's the way it works with it. You're using something different so I'm not sure. But look for something that lets you change the apk's permissions. You need to change them to read/write.
Edit, ok I installed es file and I can't find where to change the permissions either. Try root explorer, I think it'll cost you some money but it's well worth it.
You hit menu go to tools then hit root explorer it will ask for permissions and then another box will popup where u can give r/w privis.

Will do. I'll look into Root Explorer.
In the meantime I'm baffled as open1your1eyes0, the one who wrote the guide on rooting the phone, suggested using the app I've been trying to get to work.
Ah well, thanks a ton for your help. At least I know I'm not losing it.

Hello,
Iv noticed a weird new permission request when updating HTC & Firefox Browsers,
"Download Files Without Notification"
This permission is quite dangerous in my opinion!
Anyone has a comment about it? And why is it a required permission?
Strange, I opened Play Storr and I don't see such permission? [emoji53]

If you are rooted, there is an Xposed module that lets you see all the permissions an app requests, a while back google changed the way they present permission requests and made it quite broad and bundled together, no details as we used to get before.
Anyone?
Just looked at my storage got 64gb and had 20gb left with no music and 60 small apps starting looking into it and es does not delete anymore it puts in recycle bin I had 25gb in there
So have a look see if it's the same for you guys:good:
Happened to me as well.
ES deleted my Backup Folder, that 'Cleaner' thingy...

I'm using default file manager on CM12.1.
HTC One X+
Thanks for the heads up.
You can disable it in the settings.
I've disabled mine as well, don't need their Cleaner...
using Es Explorer Pro 1.0, everything normal.
I'm using solid explorer. It seems good
