Well , yeah, same here randomly losing control of my audio device. Launching a video MAY sometimes fix it , but audio loss can be fixed through rebooting only. Wierd issue. On the official asiaretail ICS leak.

It is not software, but hw fault, try to press on the plastic cover by the camera.
At least I have this issue, when I plug in a micro usb, micro hdmi or jack in, sometimes when I pull it out, it somehow moves the external speaker and it stops to play, until I put some pressure on it )). There is a post about it.

haha awesome that was the problem. had to place pressure on the plastic bit on the opposite side of where the camera is located. just hope it doesn't keep doing it though lol wish i could hammer it in place

Here's a way to manually override it:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.woodslink.android.wiredheadphoneroutingfix
The downside is it won't auto-detect headphones, but the upside is that it'll work perfectly every time. I installed this after my alarm thought I was using headphones when none were plugged in; can't have that sort of failure again.

This happened to me once... I read about the speaker contact issue and tried the "rub like you're sealing an envelope" trick and no joy... I pressed to the point of fearing I would crush the thing and it started working again. It's been about 3 weeks and has been fine, since.

Yeah that is the solution. The problem is it comes again and again. Everytime I set the alarm I am checking if the speaker plays. Wow a 500 euro phone. )))))

I actually just bought a Maxx of craigslist and it had this problem of tinny or very quiet sound or sometimes none. I took the speaker out of my OG Razr and popped it in. Perfect now.
You can get the replacement speaker for $10 on ebay. Very easy to replace if you have the tools.

ninja is still in alpha stage so there's bound to be issues like this but also try a reflash? Or ask for a replacement since something might be wrong with the jack
I just flashed Kennethpenns Alien 3 Rom. Still the same problem. I don't see why it would just go so fast...
you know nvm, just looked down there with a flashlight, saw something. Fished out a decent sized piece of lint with a needle! son of a ***** but thankfully its just that.

Headphone jack stopped working

So I've had my S2 for a few weeks now and I've never had any problems up until now when my headphone jack stopped working for some reason.
I use my phone for music when I'm driving and I always connect an AUX cable to it and it worked flawlessly. Fast forward to last night, I'm leaving the gym and plug in my phone as I usually would, but this time I hear a weird thumping noise coming from the speakers... I immediately unplug it and plug it back in once again but the noise persists.
I head back home and I plug in the headphones I always use but when I turned on the music, it played through my speaker. I checked to make sure I plugged it in all the way, turn it on again to no avail.
Anyone know what's going on here? Is this a common issue with these phones? do I have to send it back to AT&T?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like bad hardware. If it were my phone the first thing I'd do is take it to 100% stock. If problem is gone then it was just software. If it still doesn't work, your phone is already to go back for a warranty exchange.
First I've heard of a headphone jack failing, with no water damage, on this phone.

Had this problem 2 phones ago. Csr will ask you to do a reset on your phone before any actions can be taken.

I just started getting this issue a couple of weeks ago. I took it back to bone stock and still nothing. I get the feeling it is the built in amp crapping out. I use mine for the same purpose, the aux input in my car. I always had to crank the phone volume to max so I could control it with my car's controls. Maybe the constant high output killed it? Either way I don't want to have to go without my phone even for a week or two.. :'(
had to send my phone in for warranty for that exact reason

What do you mean? I called them and explained how I know it isn't software and they sent me a replacement no questions asked, might have to do it again though for the same reason

They just sent you a replacement? Nice. I'm calling them later today. Hope my warranty isn't expired. I was just wondering if you thought it was the headphone amp or what.

I just got off the phone with AT&T's warranty guys and they are sending me a refurb to replace it. They asked all kinds of questions, but really I just needed the last 4 of the IMEI and whether or not the freaking moisture sensor was showing a color other than white ( I guess it turns pink/red if it gets wet). I already bought and used a jig on my device to make sure I didn't void the warranty. Hopefully that is all I need to do. Im going to go make sure so I don't get screwed when they get the phone.
Wow, you've got me scared now, I started to notice the thumping noise a couple days ago and since then I've had to plug my phone in and unplug it a once or twice to get the sound to work. I thought it was just a bug in the new ROM I'm running... Did AT&T send you a new phone or did you have to give yours up to get a new one? I don't think I can live without my phone for a week, it would be like removing my testicals or something :O

headset icon on all the time..no speaker

Basically the headset icon at the top is on and the phone thinks I have a headset plugged in so the only way to talk is to put it o n speaker phone.
Anyone eleven have this issue or do I have to get a refurbed replacement?
There's probably crud in your headphone jack. Clean it out with a q-tip that's got a tiny bit of rubbing alcohol on it. Obviously turn your phone off first.
Are you running a custom Rom? Rooted ?
If so, I suggest fist wiping and reflashing a Rom.
If on a new flash u are still having the problem, I would assume hardware problem.
Inspect the Mic jack, look for debris, plug.in a headset, u should be able to tell if there is something inside.
If all of that fails, call 611 and get a replacement.

Not rooted, already tried a wipe, tried inserting headphones and they work but the icon stays on after removal.
Going to take a closer look inside the jack and clean it.

Yeah, this is a pretty common problem. Not with this phone in particular, but phones in general. All that lint'n'stuff in your pockets. You can also use vodka, if you have some of that around.
Cleaned it really well but didn't see anything that would keep it from working right.. still broken so I gotta exchange it.
Compressed air.
Tried everything.. no dice
I had this exact problem. I ended up exchanging under warranty. Odd thing was the day I sent it back it stopped doing it, I sent it in anyway and just told verizon it was intermittent and random. That was a few months ago and my new one works fine.

DNA Screen replacement issues

Hi,... so I got finally a screen replacement (LCD, digitizer and front housing) for under 100 bucks... and replced the screen successful last night:
I had 2 issues immediatly:
- headset jack was not working and Beats sound options showed not available
- Camera app is crashing
I took the phone apart again and put it back togther, checking on the ribbon connectors and making sure all connections are good.
I got the head set working and beats shows now as well, however the camera (both) are still not working. I did not disconnect the cameras from the little motherboard, so they should be just fine
It might be one of the ribbon/ flex cables not plaing well or being damaged.
Does anyone have any other ideas of where to check? Thx
It must be the upper little motherboard/ connectors back to the main motherboard, turns out I also don't have the regular earpiece speaker working... off again go hunting for a broken DNA for little money as parts DNA.
Had this problem as will, but i found the issue.
Try to connect again the cables in both sides of the motherboard.

I had to replace the cracked glass on my DNA. I bought the glass/screen recommended here (on eBay, seller GadgetFix). Pretty easy to do if you're careful. Tip: Test the phone before putting the back cover on.
Had the same camera crashing issue after replacing the screen. Reseating the cables on both sides of the main board (the ones held by two screws each) a few times to no avail. Then I remembered I had the same issue w/o screen replacement a few months back. Looked up what I did back then, turned out just do a software reset (hold the power button for ~20 seconds) solved the problem. Hope this helps others down the road.

Replaced my LCD now I can't get signal

Hi guys not sure if this is the right place I changed the lcd and now I can't get any signal. I have double checked all the connections and everything seems secure any ideas? The phone works fine considering it was dropped at 150 mph

Well funny story really, i ride a motorbike to work and back each day and i have my phone in my jacket pocket as i use it as a mp3 player and listen to music while im riding, basically i was going down a private road at high speed and my music stopped i looked down felt my pockets and swore rather loudly. Turned around and after about 5 mins found the phone and its case, (still missing my sd card and battery,, it was about midnight) went back the following day and found the sd card and battery, unfortunately the screen was smashed and the lcd was also cracked it powered up but there was no picture, i have noticed after further examination that along the bottom of the handset on the back just above the charging port there is a crack in the plastic and a bit is missing and you can see two springed metal connectore, now whether these connect to the antenna for network or not i do not know, ive been googling non stop and the general idea seems to be imei problems??

Mobo could be damaged. Either that or the antenna is missing. The antennas are located on the right and top of the moon. It is exposed when you change the LCD. If you switched it yourself, check those connections. It's pretty easy to check it.
Right and top of the moon? Also the phone works perfectly if not faster than it used to wifi Bluetooth etc all works is the antenna with the wire that runs down the right anything to do with it ?

Just a note guys I replaced the rear chassis and it fixed the issue. On gsm models the 3g network antenna runs along the bottom by the charging port
