I think there is no hope for ROMs under 4.0.x :/ But i can be wrong, don´t know.
No chance for version that works under 4.0

So u can take quarx' for defy or epsylon's latest nightly.
What ROM r u now?
MIUI Pikachu 2.3.7
I`ll take epsylon`s latest nightly ROM. Can you help me to choose one because I`m really confused. I dont know which one to download,I live in Serbia,Europe,if it is important. What version to choose from here? Its the index of CM9 roms for Defy. Thanks!
Flash epsylon3's latest cm9 froyo build ... data wipe, cache wipe, dalvik cache wipe... flash the latest froyo kernal, then the latest build, n then latest gapps... then wipe data, cache, dalvik cache again. reboot enjoy.
Kernel: http://defy.wdscript.fr/kernel/kernel-froyo-222-179-4-signed.zip
Rom: http://defy.wdscript.fr/defy-cm9/CM9-NIGHTLY-120714-Defy.zip .
gapps: goo.im/gapps
Bootanimation: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=28969491
Download the latest ics gapps from there. And also try the new bootanimation i made for defy.

So,just to be clear:
1. Flash froyo .sbf using RSD Lite
2. Root and install some recovery
3. Wipe data, cache, dalvik, everything and flash latest froyo kernel (from your post)
4. Then flash ICS ROM
5. Then flash GAPPS
6. Wipe data,cache,dalvik again.
7. Reboot
Is this correct?

When u reboot the phone wait for the Blue LED. As soon as you see the Blue LED press the Volume Down button, it might take you into the Recovery. I dont think you need to install a recovery. Pickachu Rom might have a recovery already installed. So no need to flash sbf. Either way u dont need to flash SBF. You just have to install a recovery and then follow other steps. You told me that u have pickachu rom right, so i gues its already rooted and a recovery will be built in. or when u press and hold the unlock button , do u get reboot > reboot into recovery.
Yes,and blue light appears everytime I turn on the phone. I know I have a recovery- 2ndinit. So,I just need to wipe everything and flash latest froyo kernel, then ICS,then gapps, and wipe all again?

I dint know anything about these flashing, unlocking rooting until i started following threads everyday. Thanks to the Devs here. Glad it worked. Follow epysylon3's thread for new updates, he also started compiling JB CM10 for defy green lens. Install solid explorer from market its a good explorer and then dfownload the bootanimation from my thread. Go to root/system/media, replace the boot animation.
I tried you bootanimation, and its... too simple,no offense
Try to make, for example, DEFY text to explode, and set M logo to fire or something

1) Use XXKPP Stock ROM and modem from Latin America (Chile)
2) Flash Gingercruzt 2.2 (Wipe + / format system) PASS
3) Flash Gingercruzt 2.3 FAIL
Result: Bootloop
I also tried flashing from CM7.1, but the same result.
I left the 2.2, very fast, stable and good (and sexy). Plus a couple of tweaks & scripts

Hello everyone,
I've been using normal andriod with touchwiz for about a year now and Im really in the mood for something new. I've been reading up on ics but was dissapointed to hear that the ui hardly changes due to touchwiz.
So I've been reading up on ROMS and the whole development thing and i'm now contemplating trying to install one. From a lot of reactions it sounds really exciting though I also read that a lot can go wrong.
So I've been thinking about ressurection remix and have been watching those movies at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1436854
I have a few questions about it, perhaps someone who installed it can explain.
First question, there is a guide to install a rom and a guide to install a kernel, but in the movie the guy says that the rom comes with the kernel preinstalled. So why is there a guide for the kernel then? Do i need to install a seperate kernel at the end for the ultimate experience or can i just ignore that part?
I can save my apps with titanium backup right? Does it save all the settings in apps too or only the apps themselves?
Any other tips/advice for a beginner or should i just try the guide on that site and see if me and my phone survives?
Thanks in advance.
If the kernel come preinstalled you needn't worry about flashing another kernel, but I'd recommend checking out a few different kernels to see which one suites your needs.
Titanium backup backs up the app and the apps data.
Extra advice: make a full backup with CWM!
If you're not happy with that ROM, check out MIUI, it has plenty of themes, including ICS.

Ok guys I want very solid but the problem I have is that the explenation im trying to carefully follow on here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1436854
.. is for 9.7. Now I was planning to follow that step by step and there is a 9.6 file to download but is there a explenation for that too? for example i dont see gaps for remix and gapsfixer (or i dont need that for this 9.6?) anything else thats different for this installation?
Final question this 1.0 version you speak of is it worth just waiting for that or will that take too long (or might the difference be too small?).
Hi,
I've been using V9.7 for a week and everything works for me.
If i remember : yes you need a "gapps.zip" and a "gappsfixer.zip" for V9.6.
You've to follow the same setps (as for V9.7) :
- install V9.6 Remix
- install gapps
- install gappsfixer
- dalvik cache
- and then reboot
V1.0 is gonna be based on the official ics. So its def something to get when it comes out.
He has said its gonna take 7-10 days though
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA
And i believe the gaps are the same for every rom.

http://galaxys2root.com/galaxy-s2-root/how-to-root-galaxy-s2/
And it installs the zerglings it seems but after reboot i do not get a superuser.
The post you follow says : if "not" retry again step 10...so you have to do it again...

after installing the 3 files above in that order .. isnt it
- wipe cache

- fix permissions
I've noticed they omitted the fix permissions part on 9.7?? but I still did it
Also I agree v9.6 is more stable without the display errors of white on white and black on black text, plus you can install LPJ kernel on v9.6 (i'd try Siyah's not the one on westcrip's rom page)
I'm using Siyah without any problems.. no fc's
I think if you install Siyah's after you've freshly installed 9.6 may have something to do with it not causing fc's .. don't know why tho?..

Hi everybody,
This is my first ROM. I don't own anything, I've just simple put the two things together and make this ROM for Locked Bootloaders. All the credits goes to xperiavish for making this lovely MIUI ROM for our Xperia U and atis112 for making this patch to make possible to transform ROMs for Unlocked Bootloaders to Locked Bootloaders.
atis112 didn't give permissions to use its work for that kind of works. I thought that he had given the perms. But I was wrong. He has given perms just for source based roms. So I removed the links. Moderators can delete the post. Sorry again everyone
[UPDATE] It's seem that atis changed his mind and he granted the perms. So here is the link : http://www.mediafire.com/?c06ryujf55qtx
Mirror : http://rapidgator.net/file/77293198/MIXIE_V2.0_XPERIAVISH_-_LockedBootloader.zip.html
If you like their work, buy them a beer =)) And don't forget to hit the Thanks button on their pages to show your support to the developers.
Use it with your own risk. I am not responsible for soft bricking your device. (You know you can always flash the stock ROM using flashtools ) It worked for me and I am using it right now.
If you have any further questions like bugs or other stuffs, you should contact with the ROM developer. I've just make it to the LockedBootloaders.
Here is steps of flashing this ROM:
It is based on CM 9.1 FXP205 so b.54 is required for the modem driver.
(If you are already on CM based ROM for locked BL and you flashed CM9 Based ROM over stock b.54 ROM no need to do the first four steps. Just jump into step 5)
1- Flash Stock B.54 Rom
2- Since you are using a locked BL device, you're going to lose your root perms and CMW recovery.
3- Go ahead and root your phone.(There are possible methods on xda so search on the xda forums )
4- Install CWM recovery (There is also a guide for this on xda )
5- Put the ROM to the SDCard.
5- Reboot your phone.
6-When you see Sony Logo, start pressing volume down button(don't hold down volume down button, just keep tapping on it. )
7- Once you get into CWM Wipe Data and Wipe Cache and Wipe Dalvik Cache ( Advanced / Dalvik Cache )
8- Then choose install zip from sdcard
9- Flash ROM
10- After flashing the ROM reboot your phone. Wait for the boot and bam. It's ready
Thanks.

can i use the brainsrom-fxp mod..?
Hey guys,
Sorry for the disappointment but atis112 didn't give permission to use his patch for that kind of conversion (my bad)(and I explained at OP) so I removed everything. If you want to make your own locked BL rom from unlocked BL, please follow atis112's guide on its page and make your own rom. Like atis112 said in his post it is easy to do that.

I didn't change or add anything to ROM and this ROM is not mine. If you read OP, I referred to the developers who build this Rom and Locked BL patch. You can see screens and changelog over there. Thanks.

No, you need to download brainsrom-fxp mod and then atis patch then you need to patch the brainsrom-fxp mod with the atis's files using his guide in order to make a Locked BL ROM. You need to modify brainsrom-fxp mod manually in order to make it right. You can't just simple flash over this Rom. You'll end up bricking your phone. Thanks.
thanks

Acting a little buggy. Won't boot to lock screen. Sometimes you can get to the home screen but when you push the power button to lock the phone will restart. Just a little heads up.

no issues buddy...m just sharing things which help others as u do...lemme know if any bugs comes up...n m working on the updates part..take care..:good:
Great work, I'll definitely try this out! One question, more of a very general MIUI question. One of my favourite things about my current ROM is that I have a unread notification (bubble over the app icon), is there anything like that stock in MIUI or is there some theming required?
EDIT - Install failed, your prop file is funky...
EDIT 2 - I followed the instructions to the letter, and it boots up into the OS then back to boot animation...

Build Prop Issues: This happened to me as well. Install the kernel first and then choose the option to reboot into recovery and install the ROM. That should clear up your build prop issues.
Install: Install the ROM. Boot system. Reboot into recovery after it loads. Wipe cache partition and dalvick cahce. Reinstall kernel. Boot system. Reboot into recovery after it loads. Wipe cache partition and dalvick cache again. Install the gapps package. Boot system and enjoy!
