Hello, everybody,
I'm from Portugal, Europe and have been trying to install a custom ROM on my SE X10 Mini Pro for a week.
Can't install any recovery, have U20i, 2.1.update1 firmware, stock kernel, rooted.
Tried CWM, to no avail. Tried xRecovery, to no avail. Tried RecoveryX, also to no avail.
Why on Earth, can't I do it? Can anyone help me?
Thanks in advance!

If you have the Stock Rom and Kernel, you can use the FLASHTOOL to install the Recovery...
But if you are trying to install any custom ROM, just follow the tutorial, there is no mistake there, where you install the custom kernel to the appropriated ROM you want to use, the CWM ou xRecovery is included!
Flash a ftf. The mini doesn't have separate recovery partition

Thanks for your help!
So can I simply flash a ROM with Flashtool? Or must I install the kernel separately?

Thanks, André. I believe you're from Brasil, right?
Will try that during the weekend. I must install the kernel for U20i, right? Then run CWM after restart, and then flash the ROM? Sorry for all the trouble!

Now my xperia does what he wants, it always hangs on the screen of sony ericcson, few loads an image that says "free xperia project" and from there it does not, and not accessible to xrecovery.
I have tried to repair it with SEUS but it says it is the latest version and dont gives me the option to repair.
The Flashtool shows me many errors when trying to go back to 2.3 stock, and says "Flash aborted" AND NOT TO DO: '(
I hope can help me ...

Hello all. I decided to install Hybrom on my Xperia mini pro (sk17i) but i'm little confused at the moment and don't know what to do. I have installed CM 7.2.0 rom with FreeXperia kernel. If i want to install the Hybrom, i just need to flash stock firmware via flashtool, install Clockwork once again, then install some custom kernel like Rage and then install the rom? Or do something else? And do i need to relock the bootloader to flash stock firmware?
Install stock firmware, install kernel, install ROM. That's all. No relock needed. Custom kernel already includes Recovery so it is not needed.

Flashing stock firmware - if you choose it in Flashtool, then yes.
Custom - no, you have to do it yourself before installing the ROM.

Thank you, I really appreciate your answer, but I have one last question. Does the firmware already include rom and kernel, or rom only? And do I have to install newer baseband to it to make the custom rom work?

Stock firmwares in .ftf file already include ROM and kernel both.
Most custom ROMs have their own custom kernel that you need to install yourself. Sometimes it is written in the topic as separate download link, sometimes it is included inside the .zip file, then you need to extract it and flash via fastboot. Check my tutorial, if you need help with it.
Baseband will depend on the custom ROM.

If the installation got aborted, it means you can't boot into the system because it didn't install. Which ROM did you try to install, and what was the error it gave when you tried to install it?

Which device uses? Are you sure he installed a cwm for the device he uses?

Download an ics ftf file from development section here and flash it via flashtool. I recommend you the .54. Root it and when you're done let me know.

Since you are on unblocked bootloader flash this kernel if you want, it's a great one. Prerooted, with integrated cwm recovery and there is an overclocked version too. here is the link : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2299748
Read carefully the instruction on how to install this kernel. Note that you have to install one of this version of firmware: 6.1.1.B.1.54. You can find this version here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2028139
Enjoy!

hi! I have x10 mini e10i and want to install custom rom even if its just running on 2.2 or 2.3.
My phone is 2.1-update 1, rooted, cwm installed but locked bootloader.
I can see some post that you can install custom rom on locked bootloader and stock kernel
Can someone make a "NEW" tutorial on how to install custom rom on locked bootloader on x10 mini e10i (not pro).
Thanks.

Please use SE tweaker tool to root and install CWM Recovery. SE Tweaker tool (also works on X10 mini): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1462278
Then restart your phone and press the back button repeatedly to boot into CWM Recovery. Wipe data/factory reset then flash the ROM that you want.

You have to use a ROM that supports the stock kernel. So all you do is download a ROM zip and flash CWM Recovery. An example is http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1201116 It should work on X10 Mini BTW.

I finally installed cm6 on my phone. But i still have problem. It always restarting after the sony ericsson text (not the logo) but sometimes it can open 'til the homescreen but still it will shut down automatically.
I tried pc companion but when i try to connect my phone, its just restarting all over. I thought if I would install a custom rom, it will repair the phone.
What's the difference between flashing the phone via pc companion and installing custom rom via cwm recovery?

Flashing the 2.1 FTF with flashtool will reset your whole phone and it should fix your problem. If it doesn't, it means that you have a hardware problem.

You can use the 2.1.1.C.0.0 ROM. It was an update for the x10 mini pro in certain areas, but it will run on the x10 mini too, since there is no hardware specific stuff in the ROM itself. You will probably lose root and cwm though when you flash it.
I've got an 'undressed' 2.1.1.A.0.6 I made for myself in zip-format which includes root and cwm, but i took out all the google stuff, so there's no market in it.
If you want to know if your phone is ok, just wipe everything and install the 2.1.1.C.0.0.
