Even with the screen at it's lowest level, it's still to bright. How can I make it darker.
Thanks

I'm looking to switch to an all black wallpaper. I like the crisp look and that it helps with battery life.
Someone please direct me to where i can get one. much appreciated

You can have a look through mine as well. There are quite a few black and white shots in it. High contrast B&W photos look great on our screens.
BTW there are alot of NSFW shots in here.

Check out jonnybuenos Black Gloss thread on here. He has an app for choosing wallpapers that has some pretty awesome ones that are mostly black.
There is also the "Hot Babes" gallery... not really my style, but there was one artsy looking upclose pic of a lady that is in black/white and her hands cover most of her mouth.... looks pretty amazing on the Vibrant.
Thanks a lot

I used the rare black wallpapers app from the market and saved one to the sd and then used the built in crop function to only use a small portion of the black background as the actual paper

I just took a picture with finger covering the camera lens. Then I applied that as my wall paper. Just because I'm to lazy to open paint and make a true black .jpg....lol it works though.

Already did ;-)
The auto-brightness on the thunderbolt doesn't work very well as it is almost always too bright. when i'm in a super dark room it seems to still be running at 50% brightness, which is far to high.
CM has a way to tweak the levels of auto-brightness by way of adjusting what screen brightness setting is assigned to a certain level of the light sensor.
so it seems clear that there is a way to bake this into custom roms.
Can this be put into a .zip file so that we can just update our current rom instead of flashing a custom one?
I've gathered some information that this should be in liblights (or something similar) and possibly in the kernel as well.
If anyone is willing to help me bake a custom rom that is a unique rom i'd much appreciate it, but i think the community would benefit as a whole if we found a solution for everyone.
I agree with you 100%, the auto brightness on this phone is wack. Completely dark room in the middle of night and the phone's screen is so bright it hurts my eyes.

Yeah it WILL NOT dim down to min in a completely dark room. I'm dying for CM so I can fix this. I use the power widget in the notification dropdown thanks to the Das BAMF ROM I'm using to dim to min at night sometimes.
I tweaked the auto brightness levels to be lower in my rom if you wanna check it out.
Very nice thank you for the post

I have watch a video on youtube that samsumg galaxy s2 can adjust the brightness by holding the notification bar for sec and then sliding it from left to right...
Is it possible to make it on xperia x10? Its to cool. You dont have to go to the settings to change it... maybe an add on or something?
X10 on WB GB ROM 4.0.4C
I'm looking for the same option on my HTC DHD (Running RCMix3D ROM).
MIUI Roms have it, however it doesn't show up until you turn off automatic brightness (which rarely ever worked for me anyway)

Hi people!
I was just wondering: If my homescreen is black, would I save more battery than if my homescreen was colorful?
A silly question.
Sent from my LG-P500 using xda premium
I do not think that applies to LCD screens, as I read that it blocks the pixel to form black.

based on those, looks like using black is same as white or even more power hungry than white.
Howeever on LED is opposite of course.

Yup AMOLED does... The screen doesnt uses the screen lid (Thats mean is totally black filling not greyish)... So 50-80% battery is save!

Look closer before you laugh Its the TOP of the wallpaper that goes dark, or better to say
it's the top of the screen that goes black. If you change to the same wallpaper it will look
normal again for a few hours, but then graduatly getting darker. Has nothing to do with the
weather conditions, time of day, display settings or screen mode..
I have exactly problem the same and didn't find a reason..
