Can you connect a wireless Xbox controller? - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I saw a video on how to connect a wireless ps3 controller
and i wanted to ask if can i connect a wireless xbox controller to the s3

If you have a special reciever, that is actually for the pc, you can of course
But without it just wont work.
Btw, the wirelless connection between the x360 and the controller is based on a proprietary 2.4ghz protocoll, what is kinda wifi, more or less.
Wifi on my router works also over 2.4ghz and the 5ghz frequency, so it could be possible to connect the 2 devices over wifi direct maybe, if we could know more?

Nope, not Wifi, only RF. A lot of devices (including wireless keyboards/mice, wireless home phones, ...) all cram in the 2.4Ghz frequency because it is free, meaning you need no license to broadcast in it.
That's one of the reason why Wifi is going to 5GHz; it's simply too full in to 2.4Ghz for proper transmissions. (The other reason is that higher frequencies allow even more throughput on the cost of battery life)

I have the wireless Xbox 360 controller and USB PC receiver. I can't get it working with my Galaxy S3.
With the OTG cable USB Stick, keyboard, mouse are ok but not the xbox controller...
Any advise?

Xbox controllers do not work out of the box but need the app Joystick center.
If it still does not work:
Install and open the app "Terminal emulator"
Tybe "dmesg > /sdcard/log.txt" (without Enter!) then plug in the receiver.
Hit the Enter key
Upload file log.txt in the main folder of your internal storage

PS3 Controller and Prime, am i doing something wrong??

So I have the prime and a ps3 controller and i changed the controller mac address to the primes and i can get it to connect using the sixaxis app but when i open up and emulator and try to configure the controls it registers one of the joysticks and the dpad as the same and wont even register the other joystick, did i do something wrong? also USB/BT Joystick Center wont even detect the controller, and I dont have the usb adapter or keyboard. It sees the right joystick and dpad as the same and wont detect the left analog stick movement besides pressing L3

Just to let you know the ps3 controller works on the prime without any root or sixaxis app. Just turn on BT on the prime, plug in the ps3 controller through usb port and turn on the Ps3 controller. Wait a few secs so it can pair, unplug and your up and running without any cables. Been using mine with bluetooth without any problems.

I don't have the usb adapter :/
bump still got no solution without USB adapter!
In your emulators settings (I use nesoid, snesoid etc) did you go into Other Settings> and check "Use Input Method" ? It says enable special input device eg bluetooth gamepad.
I have the same issue and I have the paid version and after. 21 update it doesn't work which really pisses me off... .21 update worst update so far? Fair to say?

Would this solve your problem? I haven't gotten mine yet but for that price it's worth a shot with the stock USB cable. I have the dock so my PS3 controller plugged right up.
no its been proven that that wont work, the usb charging cable doesnt have the correct pins for usb inputs, only the usb adapter does

[Q] PS3 controller does not work

So I bought yesterday a ps3 controller for my TF
But when I tried to pair between them its keep telling me
to enter a passkey in the controller....how the hell I can
enter a passkey with a gamepad
I tried with sixaxis but its still does not work
Can someone please help me
By default usually 0000 or 1234, or you can use Sixaxis Controller is better
PS3 controllers only shares its passkey over usb connection. Once you connect it once over usb it will pair again in the future. (Its the reason the PS3 system always tells you to connect the controller via usb)
download and run the sixaxis pair tool here: http://www.dancingpixelstudios.com/sixaxiscontroller/tool.html
connect your ps3 gamepad via usb to a pc, and change the bluetooth address in the program to the one you have on your tf (search for bluetooth address finder in play store if you don't know your tf's bt mac address).
After it has completed the pair process, just turn on bt on the tf, and press the ps button on your gamepad. It should work.
I just got my tab today and was wondering does the controller connects via bluetooth w/ this app and doesnt matter what ROM youre on.
I know how to use it cause i use it w/ my phone to play ff7 w/ fpse and shadowgun, just wanted to makesure i can with this tab

Ps3 controller wireless with 300 help unrooted

I have a two week old unrooted red 300 on 4.1.1 with dock, I already had a ps3 with controllers so my controller was previously paired with ps3 ( which may be the problem). As long as I have it connected via usb to my dock it works fine, but when I disconnect the controller shuts off. I see on youtube people just connect via usb, disconnect the usb and viola, playing bluetooth but mine is not working, is there any steps or apps that I need to have before I can play wirelessly. oh and yes my bluetooth is on lol.

There shouldn't be anything special you need to do. Plug in the USB, with bluetooth on, hit the PS3 button to turn the controller on and the Bluetooth should connect with it. Double-check in the Bluetooth devices that it shows a PS3 Controller listed in the paired devices after performing the above steps.
When you disconnect the USB cable it should disconnect and turn off the controller. Just hit the PS3 button again and the lights should indicate a flash showing it's on and then switch to connected at controller 1 and the bluetooth devices will show connected in the ASUS settings.

Cant connect Xbox 360 wireless controller to the phone

Hello.
I tried to connect my Xbox 360 wireless controller to the galaxy s2, by connecting the receiver to the otg cable, but it wouldnt work.
I've checked dmesg, and i saw that the phone recognized the wireless receiver but not the controller itself.
When I try to pair them the controller just keeps flashing.
The chances are that you are missing some software that makes the receiver interact with the phone correctly, you'd have more success using a PS4 controller and an app called Sixaxis (I think) from the playstore. It will connect via bluetooth rather than the Xbox RF signal......
Failing that, I've used a Moga Controller in conjunction with epsxe to play PS1 games on my S2.......

[B170] After update No reaction of XBOX360 wireless controller

Hello Guys!
I hope somebody can help me with this problem.
I want to use my xbox360 wireless controller with my Honor 7, but after I've updated to the newest B170 firmware, I don't get any recognition in games.
On B140 I was able to control the UI with my controller, but now nothing happens. I think they forgot to implement the support for xbox controllers...
Is anybody out there who can try to use his/her xbox wireless controller?
And is there any way to inform Honor about this bug?
I would not like to see this bug in marshmallow too...
best wishes
sebster97

I used my USB-OTG cable to connect my phone with the xbox 360 usb receiver.
It's the same device I plug into my pc to play games with my wireless controller
Hey, I have an answer to this,
1. You need an app called USB/BT JoyCenter Free. Download the apk somewhere online. I'm using version 3.0100
2. Plug in your XBOX360 wireless to your phone using the USB OTG adapter.
3. Open the app, inside, top left, switch the IME to ON and choose the USBJoyFreeIME as your input methods
4. In the app, click on SEARCH NORM and it will start scanning for the controller. When it scans just click on the box that appears. Your controller should connect to your phone now.
Apps that are suitable would be emulators, I normally use this method for PPSSPP emulator. Hope this helps
