Help! Springboard won't turn on. - Huawei MediaPad, T-Mobile SpringBoard

I left it plugged into the charger for a week without using it. Then I find out it won't turn on. I tried a different charger that I know is good. It's not even recognized by a pc when I plug in the usb port. Has anyone had experience with this?
thanks in advance

Try a long press of the power button for 10 seconds and then let go. Try that a few times. Still no response?

Yep, no luck there.

And I just got off with Huawei. It turns out they refuse to fix their own devices if they're out of warranty. Fantastic!

Okay. A battery pull fixed it. Now I just have to reassemble it without doing even more damage to it.

Luckily...
but... how did you happen to leave the device with charger plugged in for a WEEK?????
This is absolutely not a normal use...

It functions as my car stereo. However, my parking situation at work sucks so I usually ride a bike. That week I didn't have any reason to use my car.

Kudos on being the first I've ever seen who's written about doing a battery pull on a tablet!

I hope that's the problem with mine. Thanks cruton! I'm going to try that since it's exactly the same situation with mine. I also use it as a car stereo and haven't used it in a week or two.

Try holding the power button and pressing the home button 10 times. Then release the power button. If that doesn't work...
Leave it off the charger for 3 days. Then plug it in overnight and hope for the best the next day morning. And if that doesn't work...
Send it into HP.

Buttons doesn't help anything, and I'm pretty sure HP won't help at all because they gave up on the product.

They still honor the one year warranty. They no longer offer advanced replacement where you get a new one immediately, but they will fix it if you send it in.

Everything you did was software, so it shouldn't matter. I thought I read a thread on here that someone said they sent theirs back for the speaker cracks with android still on, and HP didn't care. But it did come back with a clean webOS install IIRC.

Sounds like you've eliminated the touchstone (assuming that wall charger is the little ACDC/USB power supply).
If you're the excitable type (and like learning about things for the sake of learning):
Unplug USB cable. Open your touchpad and manually disconnect the battery. Let sit for a moderate bit then reconnect battery. Do not reassemble. Try powering on. If nothing, plug in USB cable. At a minimum you're looking for the backlight to do something.
If nothing happens, and if available, try a different USB cable and/or power supply (need 5v ~ 2A to power up).
If still nothing, and you're on a roll, unplug the battery again and reconnect the USB cable so you've got mains power.
At this point, if still nothing, reassemble and make arrangements to send it back. There isn't really anything else you can eliminate.
Just a guess, but if nothing seems immediately obvious in what caused it, most likely the charging circuit was overvolted. Any power spikes or brownouts in the last week or so?
(opening the touchpad is pretty easy)

I might just have to take it apart. No power spikes or anything, definitely not on the touchstone. And through a surge protector.

[Q] Think my pad died..

Just wanted to bounce this off you all and see what ideas I got back..
Device:
TF201 Rooted with NVFLASH installed, upgraded to jellybean from craiggomez's post here. Also have TWRP installed.
This install has been running for several weeks.
Scenario:
I'm just returning from a trip.. I unpack the prime and turn it on and it powers on just fine. Plug it in and let start charging and walk away. four or five hours later I hop in bed (yes, I fanatically watch TV from Plex while laying in bed) and look over and see the green light on the prime is on. I pick it up and unplug it and hit the power button to turn the screen on but get no response. I'm thinking sleep of death at this point.. Hold the power button in for 10 seconds expecting to get a vibrate and a reboot... Nothing.
I've plugged it up to a PC just to verify it wasn't on and it definitely isn't.
I know that the moment I unlocked the bootloader I voided the warranty with Asus.
Are there other steps that I can try at this point to verify that it's truly dead other than what I've done?
Thanks in advance for any replies.
(Moral motivation to upgrade to the Tf700.. Hmmm I'm thinking so. )
I'm thinking SOD, also. Hold the power button down longer and see what happens. I seem to remember mine taking a while longer than 10 seconds (more like 20).
You could also try that little reset button in the little round hole about 1" below the microSD card slot. Just unfold one end of a small paper clip, and you can reset your Prime by sticking it in the hole.

I used a straightened staple and achieved the same result.. I actually felt the reset button push in and release when I backed off with the paper clip.. Still no change. Do I have to press this button in tandem with another or is it a solo button?
Have you tried booting to recovery?
Also..could it be that your charger cable is defective, and that you arent getting a charge (meaning your battery is sill dead)?

Did you have this charging on the dock? I once had a similar scenario where it wouldn't turn on and then I plugged the power cable directly into the prime bypassing the dock and it came on with full charge.
Congrats on your new toy. How does it run in comparison?
Did your rear camera work. If your done with your tf201, I'd like your camera if your not gonna do anything with it.

HELP?! Dead Evo LTE

Ok so I got in my car one day, checked my phone.. about 50% charge. I plugged it in to the car charger by habit. The screen turned off, so i thought it was just the display timer. But when I realized my settings are for it NOT to turn off while charging I pressed the power button...no response. In fact, there was no charging light! So ive tried different chargers, usb, everything even holding the power button down for 10secs-2 minutes and no response! This is the first time I've actually had a phone without insurance or sprint's replacement thingy (yes now ive learned my lesson). I cant send it in to HTC because my screen cracked (1st lesson) which voids the warranty. Ive just opened it and replaced the battery thinking that's the problem but apparently not.
Now that my rant is over, does anyone have an idea, solution and/or fix for this? and I've attached pics of some concerning dark spots on the connections. Is that normal or could the charger have burned up the connection(s). Do i need a new phone or can just the port/connections be replaced? I am LOST without my phone lol

my phone does same, 100% battery. next thing i know it won't turn on (power on) no matter how long i hold power button.
not even showing charge light, believe it's hard bricked.

That may fix it. some think its a super deep sleep or something.

[Q] Phone died wont charge

Yesterday my dna died while at a dealership then I went to plug it into my car charger and the led came on to indicate charging. The phone automatically booted into the bootloader at which point I selected reboot phone and after that it went black as if there wasn't enough juice to boot and shut off. Since then the phone won't charge. When plugged into the wall, no orange led comes on to show its charging and after being left plugged in over night I'm still having the same issue.
I've got a lot of important things on there and I really hope there's something I can do.
Thanks :crying:
it may be in a boot loop try booting into the boot loader and flashing twrp then boot into it and let it charge
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
Make sure your cable isn't borked. For some reason, the cable wires break at the connector on the small end. Try a different cable. The orange charging light should come on after about 5-15 minutes of charging depending how dead it is.

At this point the phone is refusing to do anything or at least appears to be doing nothing. Pressing the power does nothing and when plugged into any power source no orange led. I don't know how I would boot into the boot loader while the phone is in this state.

Thanks. I've tried several cables and from different charging sources, wall, computer USB and my car and none make the orange led come on. I've tried holding the power for 20-30 seconds to see if I could reboot it but that didn't work either. The phone has never been dropped on anything but carpet once or twice and never near any water.

I have this exact same problem; however, my phone came back in a few days? It seems to get stuck like that every so often but then comes back and has around 30-40% battery left. I am about to lock it and put it back to stock and get a replacement.
Were you running any ROMs? I'm running a clean stock ROM.
Maybe try to open it up and disconnect the battery. This is a common pro let on the Nexus 7 and usually people get it fixed by disconnecting the battery and putting it back on. If you feel comfortable opening the phone you could try that.

Cool. Keep me updated. I'm very curious now.
When you hold down the power button for 10-15 seconds, do the led's on the bottom of the screen blink? I let mine drain all the way out. Plugged it in. the orange light was blinking slow. I held down the power button until after the led's blinked 13 times. I don't know why they blinked 13 times but they did. held down the power button again and it booted up.
When you connect it to your computer, is it found as a device through ADB commands? Is it listed as a drive attached to the computer?

Glad to hear your back up. Good job. It could also possibly be that the battery somehow got disconnected. I wouldn't return it unless it happens again. Just try not to let it die and I don't think it will happen again. Or if you drop it, it may also disconnect. But I wouldn't get a replacement unless the issue comes up again.

Oh sorry. APX i mean. my question above is now edited. Any idea sir? or i should brought it to samsung service center?
Maybe the only thing to try at the moment would be the old battery drain technique... Usual means is to tape down the power button and wait days and days until it is dead, really dead ( shows nothing when connected to computer), then connect to wall charger and reboot and see what you get. This is really the ultimate "hard reset" but same result can be obtained far more quickly by removing the back and disconnecting the battery for a while to remove residual charge... Not as frightening or difficult as it might seem, have done it loads of times for various faults and to replace batteries in several tabs.

If you're trying to discharge by taping down power button just leave the tab on it's own not plugged into anything... Plugging into something that charges rather defeats the object of the exercise

In some cases it takes more than a day, be patient... Unless you are prepared to remove the back and unplug battery... The aim of the game is to completely power down the tab and remove residual charge in components, the "hardest" reset available.... So, two ways to achieve that is drain battery or disconnect battery... If you drain battery you must be sure it's empty to achieve desired effect then you obviously cannot restart it without charging a bit as the battery is empty, so you connect charger then try to boot, but the tricky bit is being sure the battery is completely drained otherwise you are just wasting your time... That is why battery disconnect is preferable

Suggest you go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2325109 download the manual - then unplug the battery for 10 mins or so to remove any residual power, reconnect and see what happens

Edit....I got beat to the post. I would follow the advice above first.

Look for some videos on YouTube because it involves removing the back of your tab. So see seeing it done is a great help.

Many Thanks to You stinky73
I had to purchase an iFixIt repair kit to get the correct driver to remove the two screws. I disconnected the battery, waited ten minutes and when I reconnected I was SO HAPPY to see the battery charging icon. I charged for a while a fired up the tablet. Everything was the same as if nothing happened. I am so happy because Samsung said they could fix the problem and it would be a flat rate of $150 which I don't have and I would lose everything.
Many thanks

How hard was removing the back? I'm wanting to do some building for my 7510 and will be using it for testing so I'm most likely to brick it at least once or twice.

It took me longer to remove the screws then anything. I stripped them and will need to replace them. I tried a regular screwdriver before the tri-wing screw driver and paid dearly in time. Once the two screws were removed, use a plastic pry tool starting on the bottom where the screws are because once the bottom and sides are pried lose, the top will slide over the extended audio jack.
1.5 hours to remove stripped screws
10 minutes to pry open
1 minute to disconnect battery (did not remove battery or three data cables on top of battery)
10 minutes wait for discharge
3 minutes to re-connect battery cable (it slides forward and snap down)
2 minutes to replace case

Forgive the gravedigging, but I am unable to find anything regarding my situation, and the original poster has a problem that is similar to mine (my thread is http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=52931715 ). I hope someone is able to give me a hand here!
I am wondering, it has been over 15 minutes since I disconnected the battery completely, but connecting the P7500 to my laptop still shows an APX device being connected. Could there be some hardware issue preventing the device from being fully discharged?
Thanks in advance for any help!
Still no joy with waking the tablet up

I've got the same issue as Lightside and the original poster. Mine is a GT-P7500, which had CM10 nightly ROM with CWM recovery. I sold it on eBay, but before selling, I wiped the tablet and got it back to the Clockworkmod main screen. I turned it off completely and shipped it to the buyer, ready for it to be registered by the new user.
The buyer received the tablet and from the e-mails I received from him in the first couple of days, all was going well. Then, a couple of days later, he sent me an e-mail saying that the screen shows the android lying on its back with "Odin download" mode showing. A day later, he sends me a messaging saying that he can't turn the tablet on at all. The guy who bought it is an old man and didn't know much about fixing the issue. I asked him whether he powered the tablet off while still plugged in to the wall charger and he confirmed that he did. I asked him to return it to me and I can try and fix it, so now, I have the tablet back and it won't turn on. Here's what is happening:
1. I drained the battery using the cellotape method
2. Installed the NVflash drivers
3. Waited for the battery to drain (almost 9 days and the LED flash stopped blinking, so assumed it was completely drained)
4. Plugged it in to the PC and it immediately showed up again as a device under the USB controllers within Device Manager
5. I then unplugged the battery by opening the back of the tab, left it for 15 mins, then tried the wall charger again, but nothing. No charging icon on the screen.
When I try to press the power button, I can see the LED light up, but the screen is still blank.
Could this be a hardware issue and if so, what do you think could have caused it?
Could really do with some help here, folks! I don't want to have to give the buyer a refund because technically, he got it when it was in working condition and he probably did something to screw it up, but since he's an old man, I thought I'd try and help him, if I can.
same to me
