Unbricking... - Galaxy S III Q&A, (US Carriers)

I am attempting to do this...very hard to accomplish since my motherboard does not look the same as the one in their guide. I already am getting a new phone shipped to me but I figure this could be useful if anyone could learn how to do this. I searched for this particular resistor (r313) and found some other boards talking about this process and it seems like it works. I can't post a picture yet as I am a new member but I have my phone apart and am playing around with it. Does anyone have any idea where this resistor might be located?

G1 Camera Flash?

KUDOS TO ALL!
I have been doing couple of research regarding camera flash for the G1. Hardware or app, whichever. So I have been looking on couple of threads. They talk about having a flash in g1 camera. I was figuring if does anyone have news about that? I kinda found this thread a little useful (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=540299) but they stopped talking about it. Thinking maybe they stopped working about a hardware flash for the G1. I was hoping if they are developments I could know about. Or are there any g1 casing that provides LED lights for the casing (similar to the iphone-http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mN6F93snwmA). Or like this guy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JeQFqF5bK1M. Also in this guy in the HTC Dream (g1) manual has a flash in his g1. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=468673 --Go to service manual G1. Page 60 for a view of the camera on the back. And page 86 for better view at the back with the casing.
Please let me know if you guys have info about g1 camera flash.

So why did you decide to post a new thread about something that has already been discussed? I'm thinking that this should just be merged along with the other discussions all into one single thread. That's just me thinking about how to keep the forums clean and structured though.
I'm sorry if I made the forums untidy in your perspective. All apologies. I posted this because the old thread was a year old already. In my expectations no one would respond. So forgive me.

Whenever you reply to a thread that is a year+ old or a day old it "bumps" it. Yes... it would have been read. I think that if anything would have been done it would have been done years ago. Besides, not too many people still use the G1 anymore since there is about half a dozen newer devices out already.

Help/advice about live wallpapers

Hands up, I have to be honest, this thread is basically a duplicate of one I already started elsewhere but it's just gotten buried in that section and I doubt I'll ever get any help with it.
As I said in the other thread, I'm wondering if it's possible to embed switches/toggles for functions like bluetooth into a live wallpaper.
I mean, I know that live wallpapers can respond to touch input, I'm just not sure if they can be used to control other functions within the handset itself.
If that is possible, the next problem is that I have no idea how to create a live wallpaper.
Any/all suggestions, advice, etc would be greatly appreciated.
Quick bump in case anyone can help...

=)
Top two work best bud, good luck! That would be pretty cool if you incorporate that though.
Because, of course, I'd never thought to actually try finding out the answer myself(!)
Pretty much every link on the first page of that search I've already looked at.
But answers aren't hugely forthcoming, especially about being able to control the bluetooth status, and the guides aren't the clearest for someone who has no idea what he's doing like myself.
I asked here in the hope that someone with some expertise might be able to help.

Try that
Thanks for the link, I'll look into that.
One guy mentions 'livemake' which I've not encountered so far.
The second one just uses 'Custom Creator 2.6' which I'm already familiar with and isn't remotely capable of what I'm trying to do - it can only produce basic animations.
I'll definitely chase that up though, thanks.

How do I look up what "rev" version I have?

Hi there,
My S2 have not been working properly. It won't charge at all. It goes from charging to not charging all the time, so I'm guessing the port is bad. I've decided to change the flex cable which includes a new charging port.
But... There is a couple of different flex cables out there. All for Galaxy S2, but some for "rev 2.2" and some for rev "2.3" etc. So.. my question is:
How do I found out what "rev" my phone is?
Thanks in advance
This has been covered a few times recently. Go thru KeithRoss39's posts, he's the resident expert on this particular matter.

What does "rev" stand for? Searching for "rev" didn't gave me the answers I wanted when using the search box. It doesn't hurt to get it covered again.. It's a forum..
I gave you the means to answer your questions. He has specifically spoken about this in detail (which rev belongs to which SGS2 variant, etc) several times over the past two weeks. He is not a heavy poster here. There aren't many threads you'd need to look at. I'm not about to do that searching for you and/or regurgitate this stuff when it's been done so many times before because you're too lazy to take a brief amount of time to find the answer.
'It doesn't hurt to get it covered again' - Yes it is a forum, and it's a forum where we encourage people to help themselves & learn, we point people in the direction of what they're wanting to know, and we encourage them to go learn it.
I'm putting you on ignore, because I'm just not interested in your response to this post given the tone of your last one & your obvious sense of entitlement, so knock yourself out abusing me in your reply to this, I don't care & won't be reading it.
All you do is look at the fffffffin rev number on your one and order that.
And this is a forum....so dont be a sanctimonious mouthy noob.
Rev:
Revolution
Revision
Reverend
Reverse
Maybe its no.3,who knows or cares.

[Q] E980 brick with QHSUSB_DLOAD showing.

Ok a few days ago I wasnt paying attention and I installed a ROM on my LG Optimus G and when I restarted, it did not reboot. I have read a number of different forum topics on the subject and done a number of things to attempt to fix it.
From what I read, when the device shows up as QHSUSB_DLOAD in device manager, it is end game.
Ok well I did not immediately give up. I found and installed the Qualcomm drivers. I tried LG FlashTools. Of course to no avail.
This guy on EBAY (item 281151982662) will fix it for $24.99. I think that is a fine deal and since I have exhausted my other options, I was preparing to send it off to him.
AND THEN I found a link to "www(dot)zpsjbbs(dot)com/thread-5097-1-1.html -THIS FORUM POST that implies it may be fixable still with a software solution!!
The challenge is of course, that the post is written in Chinese. Google can translate and I feel I will be able to decipher it and search for and find the various pieces of software and try it out.
Question I have is, is it worth the time? Is it possible? Has anyone tried this method? Anyone have English explanation of it?
Thanks in advance. This is my first post here so I can not post links.

Try catching Shelnutt2 on this link. This has come up in the past and from memory there is a Qualcomm tool availible, but I am not sure if anyone ever got it to work. There were hex files needed if I remember correctly.
Please , can you tell us what went wrong ?? so no one else tries it if they read it ??
Ive played with the Programs, Its QPST and the hope that it offers up is limited, but Im not a dev either. I can get it to a certain point and that's it, u need hex's off a working phone to get another part of the phone to say ok to get another part of it working... or so it seems, but Im all in on this if anyone wants to dable, this would cure a lot of woes if we hammered this topic. To JTAG my phone it cost 60 bux so the ebay deal if hes credible, is a good deal

Greetings and root questions?

Greetings people here, nice to meet you guys but aside that I could use some assistance. All knowledge/experience I have with rooting have come from here and it has helped me quite a bit in the past with my old phone (Samsung Galaxy Light). Rooting that thing was simple and I have recently made the jump to a Galaxy S5 (SM-G900T3) and being the idiot I am I upgraded to the newest version (G900T3UVS1FOL1). I have looked around and around the internet for info on this firmware as well as my model of phone but I have found few pieces of information that include both. Fear has been keeping me from doing too much as this is the most expensive phone I have ever gotten and having very little funds I want to be sure of everything. I understand risks come with rooting and such but covering all the bases can't bee too bad right?
From what I gather there is no way around using Odin to do something that will let me root this thing. While I haven't used the program before I trust there are enough tutorials online involving the program that I can figure my way around that thing. What troubles me is that I see many files/tutorials for different versions (FOG, FOF, FOJ, ect...) not to mention numbers past those things. Also the staggering times I see someone mention SM-g900t and ONLY that one with the occasional person ask if it is similar to sm-g900t3. Long post yeah but I am concerned and as far as I'm aware more info for these kinds of questions leads to faster results and better times for those trying to help.
I would post links to images to show more info but my account is new so...yeah, sorry about that. Aside that thanks for taking the time to read my rather long post and thanks again for all that offer any assistance.

I might suggest you read: http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmo.../compilation-s5-g900t-stock-firmware-t3042400. Just find the info for your phone. For the most part, using Odin is easy. If you used Heimdall to root your previous phone, you might want to use a different computer because the two programs can conflict with each other.
