I installed pixie probe and got a messaged my wilink drivers for wifi were incompatible running pixie because of incorrect drivers for the Droid thw drivers cannot run on promiscuous mode. I've been trying to find drivers I can install or if it is possible. Do you guys have any download links? Or any idea how to fix this

I recently bought the Motorola Droid RAZR and when I powered up the phone, I received a notification to update to System Version 6.16.211.XT912.Verizon.en.US
I agreed and the phone updated. I notice that I am now on Android 4.0.4.
I am trying to root the phone, but when I connect it to my PC, There is no Motorola ADB driver installed. All my drivers are up to date and I have tried this on multiple computers but to no avail. I also have the Android SDK installed.
What I have noticed is that when I connect my phone with USB debugging checked, the USB Networking driver is installed. Typically its the ADB driver that's installed but not in this case, so when I type in ADB devices my phone is not listed.
Anyone else have this problem? Any help would be much appreciated. Please let me know if you need any information and I'll be happy to provide it.
Thank you.
Same here...
I'm seeing the same thing. I've tried all combinations of settings on the phone, PC, Mac, Motocast Drivers, etc. No luck.
New Driver?
I noticed some new Windows drivers were released today on Motorola's dev site. I'm on my Mac today, so I can't give it a try myself.

No luck...
That didn't work... The problem is that when I switch the phone from Mass Storage to MTP (Media Device), it installs Motorola Networking Drivers... I was expecting it to install the Motorola Composite ADB Interface Drivers....
Maybe an older version of the drivers would help? Not sure...

So after all my attempts at installing the ADB Interface failed, I performed the following steps (although a little grudgingly... lol)
1. a factory reset on my phone (currently on ICS 4.0.4).
2. Uninstalled ALL motorola drivers from my PC and installed the one that came with mattlgroff's DroidRazr Utility 1.7
After this, I turned on USB Debugging and connected the phone to my PC and voila! it worked. Even though the USB option was set as Mass Storage, It still installed the ADB Drivers. I set the USB Option to MTP and was able to successfully root my phone using the utility.
Hope this helps.
FYI - If you'd like to take a backup of your text messages then you can get the SMS BackupRestore app from the play store

I think this is what got it working for you. Windows sometimes won't install USB device drivers if it thinks it's already been attempted.
This is a HUGE problem that I spent the last 12 hours researching how to fix. Instead of typing an essay on how to fix it, I made a blog post that outlines how to fix this problem. The blog post is here: Fix Adb Droid Razr Problems.
Question for the community:
I have recently joined the Droid Razr community as a previous Droid Charge owner. I've been having a horrible time getting my device to root. (I've never had issues with any other device).
I installed the motorola drivers for Windows 7.
I am using a Verizon XT912 running android 4.0.4 ICS.
When using any of the auto-root scripts here I get "device not found".
Upon researching further into the situation, I have attempted downloading the android SDK and using the adb that comes with it. I've uninstalled all other phone drivers from Windows 7. I restarted/uninstalled motorola drivers/restarted and adb still finds no devices.
EDIT: I've also tried all the different USB ports on my computer.
I can verify adb doesn't find the droid razr by typing "adb devices" at the command prompt. Windows 7 Device Manager shows Droid Razr installed with a working driver.
Any help would be appreciated.
SOLUTION: I read the thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1743367&highlight=root+ota&page=2 after doing three million different things to my phone. Finally, I did a factory reset. When my phone reset, I did NOT set up my google account. I then made sure the USB mode was in PTP camera mode and USB debugging was on. I installed the motorola drivers from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1539192 !!! DO NOT INSTALL THE ONES FROM MOTOROLA's website, they are pure garbage !!!. adb now recognizes my device.
A big shout out to clifference for posting what worked for him. And a big thumbs down to motorola for posting horrible drivers on their website.
This was such a large problem that I have documented it on my blog. Fix adb Droid Razr Problems
THANK YOU
Have been beating my head against this issue for weeks (ever since the ICS OTA update). I was on the verge of reinstalling Windows, but this fixed the issue completely. THANK YOU!!!!!

Keeps disappearing
Resetting worked for me... for minutes. Then the phone didn't show again.
I'm on a Mac, there are no drivers. Simply keeps disappearing after the first time it works, and then I have to reset again.
There also is an official thread on Motodev community.

Big thanks from me! I worked on this all weekend and could NOT figure out why I could never see device as ADB. Factory Reset and immediately connecting worked long enough to get me rooted

Good to know the solution works. I had to use it. I was never aware that you had to have your device in camera mode when connected to your PC. That's what was screwing me..
Losing hope...

I have the similar issue... just my problem is much more complex since I cant enter the Android or do anything with the phone. My phone keep on restarting every 1 min while showing dead android picture in a meantime.
I cant use RSD Lite and fastboot new android on my phone, since phone isnt connected with computer and computer always keep on showing me message:
The last USB device conected to this computer is malfunctioned windows can not recognize it.
Recommendation:
Try reconnecting device. If Windows stil does not recognize it, your device may not work properly.
I tried installilng new drivers million times. I tried using motohelper drivers but still the same. Also I changed PC but again the same!!!!
I cant use ADB since my phone isnt connected with computer, same issue.
While watching dead android picture I can just enter recovery mode where I have these options:
-reboot system now
-apply update from external storage
-apply update from ADB
-wipe data/factory reset
-wipe cache partition
I tried wipe options but nothing. While I cant update from ADB.
I really dont know what to do...

So you can't get the computer to connect to the phone while it's in fastboot mode?

First the problem was somehow with drivers, but I got advice to uninstall all drivers (Motorola, Nokia, Samsung) which I had on my PC, and to reinstall just motorola drivers, and that fixed problem.
After that I got new problem with empty battery, so my phone was completely briced, but creating a factory cable solve everything

I had this problem with the Motorolla Turbo. To fix it I did two of the things you suggested and one third not listed here.
1.) Download the drivers from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1539192
2.)Made sure the USB mode was in PTP camera mode.
3.) I manually installed the adb drivers on the phone by following the steps in this tutorial.
http://visualgdb.com/tutorials/android/usbdebug/manualinstall.php
Hopefully this information will help someone who needs it.
I aquired a droid x2 from a friend at work. I have searched the web and what I have found nothing to help. I have installed the motorola drivers. Tried three different computers. Three different usb cables. No matter what I tried I can not get any of the computers to find the phone. They all show up with usb not recognized and/or driver not successfully isntalled. The droid is running 2.3.5. Any help as to how to fix this problem?
I went directly to the Motorola site and downloaded the package. It took some doing to get the drivers to work the first time.
Sent using my Droid x2 running cm9 beta 1
First, use this DOWNLOAD. Run it as an administrator. Remove all USB devices that don't belong or have anything to do with ADB motorola or anything for any device manufacturer.
Reboot.
Install this DOWNLOAD, which is the drivers... Install the appropriate one. RSD is for flashing the SBF files to restore when you make a boo-boo...
After you reboot, then plug in your phone. It should install without issue. Also, make sure the development mode is disabled. Go with the basics until you get your base drivers installed first.
Let me know if it works!
Thanks. Ill give it a try when I get home
I tried both the links and they both dont send me to a download

After seeing this method it seemed pretty easy to exploit the bootloader but not so fast. Once I boot into fastboot I have a prompt on my computer to update driver hardware but do not have a disc? what am I missing? My computer running windows vista will not update the drivers to install android 1.0 so its usable. It showed and old driver for my incredible 2 but the program that i was using that had an updated driver (driver detective) you had to pay 30 dollars for to the dna driver. I have no clue what to do, can someone please help? thanks
Motorola razr maxx just won't connect using usb debugging, latest drivers, and new motorola oem usb cable. It will function in ap fastboot to install jellybean firmware though. Different usb's and computers give the same error message: USB device not recognized.
Now how am I going to root and stop the OTA update notifications???????
Search 3 hours on the net with no luck.

Keep searching. Drivers have to install separately for mtp, fastboot and adb.

Hey dude. Somebody is posting using your account. I've read your posts and they are much more precise and helpful than the last one. Hey I was able to break apart the driver package from Motorola and install each entity separately. Used a 5/16 wrench and screwdriver to tighten them down. Made all the difference. NOT. Why don't people think before they post. Probably trying to get the post count.up.
