Sony Tablet S asking for network unlock pin - Sony Tablet S

Hey guys,
I bought a Sony tablet S from Japan. I didn't try inserting a Japanese sim while I was in Japan. When I came back to India, I tried inserting an Indian sim and I got a message asking for a sim network unlock pin (I tried with a lot of different sims), about which I have no idea. Also, when I go to 'Set up sim card lock' inside the security settings, I see that the lock sim card option is checked and if I try unchecking it, it again asks for a sim pin (even if there is no sim inserted). Can anyone tell me how to fix this? Thanks for your time!

wipe all user data?

Mannat, this is not the problem of the Tablet S. Actually it's locked by NTT DOCOMO (Japanese service provider) to prevent us from using other network. As I know, the only way to solve this problem is to go back to japan and let NTT DOCOMO shop unlock it for you for 3,150 Yen. Here is the link http://www.nttdocomo.co.jp/english/support/procedure/simcard/unlock_dcm/index.html. Note that only Japanese are allowed to unlock the SIM Network. I bought mine in Japan too and I'm having the same problem as yours.

Thanks visuwat. I guess I'm stuck then!

Just got a hero-Got a question,can u help?

Hi Everyone,
I am new to this forum.I have just bought a hero off ebay second hand and I am really pleased with it.However,It is unlocked but it was originally locked to the 3 network.
I am using my o2 simplicity simcard in it and I believe that o2 don't support this phone (is this true?).
I got the settings for my mobile internet and mms from this website and inserted and saved them in the phone but when I turn on the mobile internet it says "disconnected because service is unavailable". So I thought about doing a factory reset on it,my question is, if I do this will it 'relock' the phone again?
Many thanks.

You need to check your APN settings, as I don't think they are correct.
Go to Menu, settings, Wireless Networks, Mobile Networks, APN Settings (IIRC).
I think you will need to get the O2 ones, and add them
Thanks Pulser_g2,I will try that.
Do you know if it will lock the phone again if I do the factory reset?
Thanks.

And to answer your second question, a factory reset will not sim lock the phone (at least, thats what I know)

Correct. Nothing I'm aware of can re-lock it, and that includes flashing pretty much everything...

sarcasim is a good thing but maybe you aren't comprehending what i am saying duhh!!
i own NSPRO box and have unlocked the galaxy S phones quite frequently, the phone is sim unlocked for any sim card or gsm carrier, what i am saying has nothing to do with unlocking with the sim card in( which i tried for ****s and giggles). the problem is the vibrant is not recognized on the network , i have tried my sim and several other t-mobile sims the phone doedn't receive signal on t-mobile network or simple mobile( which is a NVO of t-mobile)so what i am asking is does t-mobile block imei's from their network and is their a solution other then changing imei of the phone which i do not wish to do although i can change imei i will not since it is illegal.
the problem
let me clarify it actually says on the screen
"not registered on network"
anyway to register it on system???
its unlocked and works on at&t, h2o and all other gsm carriers except t-mobile and simple mobile
clone another imei, that will solve this problem, There is an app that allows you to give you a new I D # to your phone
I am same problem here everytime try to make call it says "Not Registered on the Network", SIM card works fine on different phone, also other SIM when inserted on Vibrant gives same message.
Under Settings> Wireless> Mobile network settings does not allow access...
Can someone help resolve this situation.
Thanks,
I am also
having the same problem. I purchased a used Vibrant from my friend whom defaulted on his bill so he sold his phone to me. When I attempt to use the T Mobile prepaid SIM or a regular T Mobile SIM it will not allow me to connect to the network. It stays on (Searching) or (No Service) but the date and time updates so I know it is connecting, just not able to use the network. Is there anyway to get around this problem or do I need to root and unlock to go to another carrier?
Hi guys I am having similar issue, please help
I was using bionix 1.3.1 by team whiskey, whats your advice do I change to ICS, will that solve the problem or simple radio upgrade will solve the matter? I have gone through several sites and found that this problem is with many android mobiles since last 2-3 years. Is there no solution to this yet! I have tried Airplane mode, removing battery, downloading autocut and all those basic methods but to no help ...
I have the same problem, did anybody find a solution?
I tried everything, flashed to stock, GB, ICS, JB.
My phone is unlocked and it only works on AT&T, the sim card is good, as I'm using it on my backup phone.

Same here. This all happened when I let my friend borrow my phone to put his SIM on it. It was a prepaid Simple Mobile SIM. It didn't work but after I went to put my SIM card back into my Vibrant, the phone never got service.
Funny thing is, my SIM works on one of my older phones, so I know the SIM still works, but my Vibe gets messages like "out of service" and "not registered on network" even through it still has some bars.
I think the problems relates to this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=37703090#post37703090
Somehow the bands on your device is messed up so you never get a signal. Not sure how to fix it but any solutions would be great.

[Q] Xperia Sola not reading sim card

I purchased a brand new Sony Xperia Sola from a local seller and i was told that phone was from France.
However when I tried to insert a sim card it does not read the sim and show the "No sim card " message. I tried with 2 different sim card s but the problem was still there. It seems the phone does not read any sim card .
Aside from this problem everything works fine with the phone.
I went through some forums and checked the sim lock status of my phone and when i enter *#*#SERVICE#*#* and went to sim lock it shows.
[] Network 5
[] Network subset 5
[] Service provider 5
[] Corporate 5
(there was no X in any brackets as suggested in some forums)
What do you think the problem is ? Is it software or Hard ware ? Please help me to resolve this problem .
Thanks.

And my guess is
Its sim locked to a particular service provider locked so you gotu unlock as far as i know!!

If it is sim locked why it doesnt ask for any unlock code? It shows " Emergency calls only . No sim" .

No, what SRB means is that the phone is locked to a particular telecom provider. It is not locked to a particular sim card.
I wonder if installing custom roms will unlock the phone. Give it a shot.
Edit: Looks like not. Bring your phone back and get a clean phone. I've a feeling that this is a second hand phone, even if it is not opened. Likely one of those people grab with a plan and sold it off.

yes..i also bought a xperia sola from carrefour france and tested it with ortel simcard it worked, now i am in romania and tryed it with cosmote and it asks for sim lock pin....wtf ?
your phone seems to have a actual sim lock since it asks for a pin. Mine does not even read the sim card and shows" No sim". I think sim card reader flex is faulty in mine .
yes...maybe mine has a simlock...but how can i find out the carrier that is locked to ? maybe i can contact them to unlock my new unlocked phone.

[Q] Cant unlock my Sim Card

Hello!
ive received my Truesmart today, ive ordered the EU 2100Mhz 1Gb/8GB Version Dev. Edition. I inserted the Micro Sim and the System recognizes that there is a sim and show me the input fields for the pin. Ive typed the pin several times and tried to unlock the sim, but nothing happens, no error wrong pin or something... it just happen nothing!
does anyone have a idea wtf this is?
I am thinking this might be due to you needing a correct APN setting set for your carrier.

the problem is i cant set the apn settings without unlocked sim card.... :crying:
oh damn im an idiot, i got the wrong simcard -_-
tried a new and all is fine

Three network splash screen

I purchased a sim free huawei mate 10 pro from my local curry’s & after i inserted my three network SIM card into the device every time now I switch the device on/off i get my networks splash on the screen!?
How can I get rid!?
Hi there, don't know if you can...I've got the exact same as you (except bought unlocked from cpw). There are a few mentions about this in various threads...
I think O2 and Vodafone sims add their own bloatware (as does three... check for deezer and wuntu...you can't uninstall them)
Not even sure if a factory reset nukes bloatware/splash screen or not...
Bit of a bummer for a sim free phone....

Nope, I did a reset & still had the splash screen!
This is the first time I’ve experienced this & I’ve had a lot of sim free mobiles!

Now that's a pain in the backside... this will affect the resale value (a bit)... never had this either... sim free meant no network branding or bloatware [email protected] !!!
Wouldn't mind quite so much if a factory reset nuked it....
Some phones have a multi region firmware, so it has the "branding" of each carrier in your country imbedded in the firmware, once it recognizes the SIM of one of those carriers it Auto-brands itself.
I just don't know what would happen if you try another sim, with some old HTCs it didn't matter, once branded you couldn't revert it, only by flashing.
Do you remember what branding code (CXXX) you had before?
I just love that most providers in my country (with the exception of Vodafone) don't have those nonsense anymore.

Just wondered if you ever got a resolve to this? I've got exactly the same problem but I bought mine unlocked from CPW. I want to sell it but can't see how to debrand the three junk. I've popped in another Sim thinking that might force a clear but no luck.
To reassure everyone it happens with Vodaphone and three
I swap my sim and it just changes the load up vodaphone and three screen
If you remove the sim and reset your back to sim free it doesn't lock and it's still a sim free phone
I noticed the s9 plus did this also must be a new android thing
