Seems like when I use my phone for a while,it just slows down. Opening apps, hitting "home" and need to wait a few seconds before it jumps to the home sceen. My keyboard cant keep up with my typing. I noticed that a reboot doesn't solve the issue. But a battery pull does. Then it goes back to how it was.

My old G2 (moms phone now) smokes my amaze when it comes to speed. Does this have anything to do with sense UI?
Sent from my HTC Amaze 4G using XDA
Slower responsiveness or slower data speeds? Or both?
I wouldn't think Sense is the culprit, mainly because the Amaze has so much more RAM to handle sense. My Amaze is significantly snappier than my Glacier... And the glacier is similar to the hd2 if I remember right.

Not data speeds. Just actually speed of the phone. MAINLY opening and closing apps, pressing menu and then i have to wait a few seconds then it'll pop up....on the G2 its INSTANT. My old G2 seems zippier and more responsive. But when I had sense rom on my G2 is was noticeably slower. That's why I questioned sense

Check your task manager to see your available RAM... Something is hogging it.
I don't have that problem on Energy, and I would be willing to bet that others on XB's ROM aren't having it either. Probably a rogue app if u ask me.

if you underclocked the amaze with something from the market, its going to slow it down alot, the only underclocking tool that works flawlessly is OC daemon, flash a rom that has it

I've owned a bunch of HTC phones but have been having issues with my new HTC Rezound. Whenever I exit certain applications the stock launcher reloads and displays the HTC Splash Screen. Seems to happen most often with Draw Something (but does happen with other apps as well). Anyone else have a similar issue or know of a fix?
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using XDA
I am actually surprised to say this but I am going to say it (knocks on wood) anyway. I know exactly the issue you are speaking of with sense phones in general. have had it happen tons of times on phones from the Droid Eris, to Incredible 1 & 2, TBolt, and they have all done this. I am into week 2 of my rezound and haven't seen it once. {walks away and launcher redraws}.
Are you running any tweaks or mods like the leedroid tweaks?

On my Incredible, I used V6 Supercharger to prevent this (and it worked amazingly well!).
I have V6 on my Rezound, and in the 30+ days I've had it, I've had exactly one re-draw of the launcher, and I really think that was my fault. Check it out!
V6 Supercharger
Thanks for the input. Mine is totally bone stock...I just received it yesterday. On my Incredible it would happen once in a great while. On the Rezound it happens almost consistently. And I wouldn't mind if it didn't take the launcher so long to recover.

When sense does that it either has run out of Memory or forced closed
Sent from my Dinc... I mean Rezound
I figured as much. But that means I'm constantly out of memory which is odd for a bone stock phone. I even turned off back ground processes that might have been sucking up memory. It's bad enough that it makes me want to return the phone.

It could be a memory leak in an app. If you notice it happening with a particular app try uninstalling it and see how it runs.
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using Tapatalk
I've turned off fast boot and cpu timelines which has seemed to help thus far. Worse case I guess I could just restore the phone and reinstall one app at a time. Main culprit definitely seems to be Draw Something though.

Have you checked to see how much memory draw something uses? I know that words with friends is a memory hog.
Sent from my Kindle Fire using Tapatalk
Good call. Draw Something uses 72MB which is nearly twice as much as other average apps. In fact I would argue that it's almost unacceptable. I still can't believe the launcher wouldn't have a higher memory priority over other user apps though.
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using XDA
I noticed this happens when I use Scramble With Friends. It used about 130 MB of memory. Sometimes more so I uninstalled it. Sense uses about the same amount of memory. I think because the phone gets low on memory it shuts down Sense because it is using lots of memory. Seems ridiculous that this happens, but it does.
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using xda premium
Sense 3.5 takes up a ton of memory so when its not used and other programs require more ram sense is unloaded. Once you go back to the home screen it has to be reloaded.
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk
Draw Something, Facebook, Any of those games and whatnot constantly streaming data, seem to decide to use all your ram for no reason. I like ICS for the reason that now you can close stuff when your done with it
So when ICS rolls out with Sense 3.6 they'll hopefully have this fixed. I bought this phone for Sense and I'm just amazed how fickle it seems this far.

That's half the answer the problem is the ram is supposed to dump the apps from the ram in order of least important but for some reason the sense launcher drops to a less important level when not in use (to give back more ram I guess). Like many people have said V6 will fix this problem and is super easy to use so I would give that a try is a great script.

With the latest ICS the phone can barely manage 2000 quadrant, so top end games are always going to lag. Even temple run stops and starts and lags sometimes for me, not to mention the crappy crackling sound.
..forcing dual core and setting the governor to performance helps a bit, but it's still not up to par where an S3 should be.
But I know it's possible since on my GSM version when putting some of the old GB mui based roms on I could get 4000+ quadrants with a bit of overclocking and games ran noticeably better.
My guess is because the screen is 3D capable it's not as efficient as other phones even when running in 2D, so HTC throttled the crap out the cpu/gpu/mem-bandwidth to equalise the battery drain.

Some ppl complain at ICS performance in games. Benchmarks dont tell **** cause every phone has lower scores at ICS I think. Look at galaxy nexus.
With this screen thing its interesting, but for me either my phone is faulty, or there are some drivers issues. I have 5+5 mpix gsm version, so that maybe its worse or sth.

by default the way its supposed to work is, the first core is always on, running to run apps and system. The second core is supposed to kick in on demand. When what you are running demands more, the second core is supposed to kick in.
This worked well on GB roms because thats the way they wrote the code. It was designed that way.
On ICS roms, there are ways to turn on both cores. There is a patch. There are some apps. The best one I've found is system tuner pro. You can set it to turn on both cores on completed boot and they will always be on.
This kicks up the performance of the phone significantly. However, there goes your precious battery life.
The EVO 3D has a pretty powerful dual core processor. Without it, the 3D would be totally useless.

Thanks for your explanation. But I am still confused about one thing. Do you mean the cellphone running ICS rom tuns on both of two cores when it completes boot? And no matter what I run, it always keep dual core running? If it was, the cellphone would spend more energy than GB rom.and generates more heat.....

That all depends on what rom you are using. Some developers have init.d edited to where both cores are always on. Or they've applied the patch to do so. By default, ICS is supposed to do the same as GB where the first core is on and the second is supposed to kick in on demand. I just feel that GB did a better job at managing it this way.
Chad Goodman always recommended turning on both cores and leaving them on in ICS as you will always get the best performance possible. Personally I like the option to turn em on if I want to with system tuner pro or leave only the first core on to save on battery life.
Chad had a very good explanation of this - how it works - even how to edit the file yourself. I just did a search for it and it appears to be gone.

I have my EVO 3d pretty much exactly how I want it. 1st question is if I up grade I will have to re install everything won't I?
2nd, what new features will I get?

Actually ics is available for evo 3d as an upgrade, there is a new version of sense 3.6 which gives you ics plus some nice features on sense, new homescreen and dock, there's some minor tweaks, to many to go into detail. Now sense 4 is as available but it was not designed for the evo, so there are minor things which don't work but it's overall much nicer with more shortcuts and improvements. Hope this helps, Sense 3.6 with ics will improve overall performance, minor over gb but improvements.

you're right - the evo3d was not built for ICS - but HTC has built ICS for the evo3d
ICS has been integrated into a full system update to the phone , unrooted
so. you get everything the evo3d has to offer - 3d pictures and video, 4g wimax, and everything else supported by the makers of the phone
plus a better and faster system with much better battery life and features , over gingerbread
.
so what are you talking about?

to answer the OP - you wont have to reinstall anything - the device will update itself (if we are talking about official htc OTA update) --- if we are talking about rooted developed roms, then yes , reinstall or restore a backup

wow! if this is your answer, then technically any phone that did not come stock with ICS was "not built for ICS" I personally think ics is way better than GB! Multi tasking is a pretty awesome feature! As far as I know, ICS was designed to work better on dual core phones... the EVO3D was one of the first dual core phones sprint released, so I would say that it utilizes ICS perfectly

It's disappointing that HTC gives you half a** quick settings in the pull down menu for ICS. No on/off selection for wifi nor auto screen orientation. You can't even add settings or change them.
Tapping on total memory to pull up and close apps takes over 10 seconds at times to load running apps.
I'm definitely rooting this replacement phone.

I've had the Rezound for a little over a year and I haven't had any major issues. Before I upgraded to the official ICS Sense 3.6, I had 4G data problems where it would disconnect while I loaded the facebook app and sometimes the google play app. When I upgraded to ICS, my data has been solid on 4G LTE. The UI is more smoother and some of the scrolling such as in the browser is smoother too. Overall I like this phone as it is feature packed and works really well since I upgraded to ICS. I do wish it had the Galaxy Nexus smoothness because that phone is wonderfully smooth compared to the Rezound which has it's lag and choppy scrolling in some places. But the Rezound is still a great phone.
I only have one complaint about my Rezound, while the 720p screen is beautiful, it sucks down power like nobody's business. Still I've had mine about a year and I've been more then happy with it. I do run the extended battery which more then gets me through the day with regular usage.
