[Q] mini pro for skype - Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini, Mini Pro, Xperia Pro, A

Hi,
I am looking for buying a mini pro for my mother. Sie need it more or less just for video-skype, whatsapp, e-mail and taking and looking pictures.(in addiction to calling and sms)
Longest batterylife would be great.
Do I need to root or any special custom rom or kernel for this use?
I am happy for every suggestion.
Thanks for your help!

no need for custom roms and these stuff......
all those apps work in standard stock ROM.........

Is there any significant improvement of the batterylive with custom Rom or kernel?

Not necessarily, but you could unlock the bootloader and flash a custom kernel, mainly just to use over or under-clocking, and scripts for performance while saving battery, while staying on stock firmware.

Yes there is. . . But if you are not a heavy gamer or WiFi user then I thing the battery life with stock Rom is sufficient for you. . . It lasts a day. . .

[Q] Which Rom Should I choose????

Hi all,
i bought this phone 3 day ago and my phone has rooted+custom recovery
i want to ask :which rom should i choose for the best performance ,stability and playing game well.
thanks all
Hi.
I prefer the devoid rom+franco kernel, because of the stability and good battery life.
If you want gingerbread use CM7 Rom. I didn't liked it very much, because it drained my battery (but i think this problem is just with my phone, don't know really if everybody have this issue.)
Openoptimus is good too, but i used it for a very short time.
Go for
Hypnos2+Francos v15 kernel+zram
BEST...!!!
Is this the same as the lg thrive?

Try devoid.franco ROM + franco kernel (v14 for battery performance) and overclock @ 480min 748max. If you're not so intersted in battery life flash v15 kernel and use interactive governor for excellent performance.
If you really want stability try using only 2.2 ROMs.

which is the best rom for ace for battery???

hi any one which is the best rom for ace for long battery life??please thank u
I can say that it certainly isnt FirstUA rom, but I do use it because it's good overall. Calibrated the battery 3 times (and discharged/recharged), battery consumption still high.
Right now, it's definitely the official firmware releases.
KPN, KPJ, KPL, KPE.
Every custom ROM or modified ROM I tried, all drains battery fast.

certainly the oficial roms are the best regarding battery life (not so long though)
i tried almost every custom rom , and i can tell u that till now the best i have is coderom v2 b2 , better battery life (still less than the oficial) and best performance and stability. i love it!
KPH and coderom2x are the best in battery backup, and I think coderom is even slightly better

Best ROM for Xperia S?

What's the best ROM available atm? I've just bought the phone and I'm looking to flash something nice onto it
By 'best' I mean stable, best battery life and as clean as possible with no bloatware.
Could you please provide a tutorial on how to do it as well?
All help appreciated and thanks in advance!
See the dev section, and you have sticky thread that will help for all things related to flashing etc....
And for the best rom, I don't test anyone so can't say but I think you'll have to test them before find the best for you.

put on .73, root it, the fastest way for me is this:
- flash stock .73 (the one for your zone is right)
- unlock bootloaders
- flash doomkernel (autorootting kernel)
- boot and check root.
- flash stock kernel (unzip .ftf and flash kernel.elf)
once you have a yourcountryrootted .73 you can
- remove all the bloatware you don't need
- replace systemUi and Framework to get the very usefull toogle bar that i missed much from my old Samsung SGS1
- if you want replace semccamera
here you got your PERSONAL rom. as i got mine !
(this way to root is my personal way, that's becouse you can't make a prerooted img of .73 italian as you can't mount it as loopback partition... btw is better than the prerooted roms, just becouse you don't need to download megs and megs...)
Just as note... i don't blame doomkernel about anything... just i prefer to have the stock kernel becouse i use my phone also for business purposes and i need 100% sure stability, and i didn't got time to test doomkernel...
try XPeriaSspeed w/ doomkernel 9006
im super satisfied w/ it nice batt life quite fast as well.

What up guys, just wanted to bring this thread up to make the same question but specifically related to jb Roms which one do you prefer, qhich is best in terms of stability, battery life, smoothness and which one is less bugish. Please help me out, i'm really hesitant in deciding wich rom

[Q] Hello, I'm new in Mini!

Hy all,
I just got my Mini.
Can you give me some tipps, which kernel and ROM would be the best for everyday using and for gaming?
Also, other tips are welcome too
thx in advice.
Don't change anything, even don't update your phone until ICS comes; I promise you that's the best way playing games and etc.
update, root your phone install cwm recovery, remove bloatware. if you notice problem with back and manu keys just fix it(there is a solution on this forum).
maybe is better to wait day or two for ics release, and then pimp your phone.

I can tell you that the ICS will not be highly recommended for gaming because their OS is a bit heavier than GB. So I think you like games and wants to apply a custom ROM. This is because at risk but you can search for Rage Kernel or X Kernel for V17 Hybrom told me that it is brutal for Games. I tried to install on my LWW but could not. IF you are modifying your ROM PLEASE MAKE A FULL BACKUP WITH CWM. NOT TO CRY AFTER A BAD SET KERNEL
Ok thanks. I will use stock ROM untill a usable custom one is available

[Q] What should I flash?

If you want to stay on stock ROM, then have a look at my kernel/stock ROM test results => http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=26775950
About custom ROMs, you have to read a lot and test it yourself ... there are many with many differences.
Good luck !

From experience you actually get the best battery life from the stock kernels. The manufacturers take the battery life very seriously since its compared to others when the device is released, so they surely test it rigorously to get the best results.
If you are curious, I recommend SiyahKernel, it seems to be about the same as the stock kernels in terms of battery life, and you get all the capabilities of a custom kernel. It also supports dual booting, so you can try other ROMs and decide what you like before messing up your system. We can't decide for you what ROM you like
If I may suggest: I am a heavy user and my solution was to buy a Momax extra battery and external battery charger from them too (the generic ones on ebay suck), that way I don't care how much battery my phone takes, since I always have a full one to pop in. That way you can flash any kernel you like.

I somewhat agree with the above two posters with staying with the stock ROM however if you were in the same position as I and didn't like the stock ROM ICS upgrade at all then I'd try Cyanogenmod 9. It's stable and I've actually noticed I get better battery life out of it than I did the stock ROM.
Just make sure you get the exact ROM version for your phone model as you could do some damage if you choose the incorrect one.
