i'm unable to wipe dalvik cache.......
details are
Clockworkmod recovery 5.0.2
Stock rom 2.3.3
try changing recovery, u can try cwm touch recovery by vivekkalady

Cwm touch recovery is not fully stable.
TRY FLASHING AGAIN/FLASH AMONRA RECOVERY.

just flashed my S2 via that:

Harder way:
Make sure you're running a rooted device.
Root your device and install ClockworkMod Recovery (http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1118693)
Do a Nandroid backup!
WIPE (wipe data/factory reset + wipe cache partition) - do it for real.
Install the ROM from internal sdcard using ClockworkMod Recovery

but after I chose reboot it still is in the yellow triangle screen and nth is hap.
(more than 10 min)

can I reflash via Odin?
If you can put your phone in download and Odin connects, yes you can try a stock kernal.
Go into CWM
Wipe data/cache
Wipe dalvik cache
reflash the CM7 zip.
wipe dalvik cache just worked awesome!!!

figured it out myself and already posted it
(but not in this thread)
now that i just installed real ics lite rom(for locked bootloader)like this :
1) wipe data-factory reset, wipe cache and dalvik cache
2) format data, cache and system partitions
3)install the rom
i can't go to recovery when i turn on the phone i keep pressing the volume down but nothing
i also tried cwm recovery from power button but no chance !!
what can i do ?

Now I have got two questions: First, should I flash a ROM with xRecovery, or CWM? Second, what order do I need to wipe data, dalvik-cache, cache partition?

The recovery version doesn't really matter. For stock kernel both xrec and cwm are available (I recommend xrec), but the nAa custom kernels all have cwm preinstalled.
The order of wiping data, dalvik-cache and cache partition doesn't matter at all, pick whatever you want .

i prefer using CWM.. just go for CWM.. or use both?
wipe data, dalvik-cache, cache partition b4 and after flashing any custom rom once..
make sure u hv the correct kernel for the rom..
Hey everyone,
So after struggling around a day or so, i finally unlocked the BL, rooted and flashed recovery by artas (thank u ^_^ for this awesome tool).
So i would like to know what are the do's and don'ts when flashing custom roms.
My usual procedure is.
1.Wipe data and cache
2.Flash new rom
3. Wipe data and cache.
4. Reboot phone and wait.
If there are additional steps or uneccessary steps. Do point out

U should flash cwmtouch.IMG and not use artas cwm after u unlock bootloader..artas cwm doesn't seem to work with some ROMs I've found..
I do it this way

Flash ROM zip.. Flash Google apps..
Reboot

Could you link me to the cwm u mention?
Also I've been stuck on PA 4.3 and cannot access my sd card via usb, drivers always fail installation
Ill revert back to stock probably and then re-start everything...
if you flash kdz to stock make sure to use a rom that acknowledges the bootloader is unlocked or the adb reboot oem-unlock wont work.
i had that problem and just went back to v20b on my p769 then flashed recovery and rom and everything worked fine
Hi... Guys currently i am using twrp recovery 3.3.1.0 but i can't do wipe dalvik and cache in the recovery mode i always shows fail
