Hi guys.
I turned off my phone to change my sim card, at that point my battery was 28%. After changing, I booted my phone up, my battery shows 18%. It's like drop 10% in 2 minutes.
*It only happens when I take off the battery and put in back on.
Normal power off and start - same battery percentage.
Power off, reinsert battery - percentage drop at least 3%.

*Additional question
My battery dropped unexpectedly during midnight what I was sleeping, I don't have any screenshot so I can just use words to explain.
2am ~ 4am - 39% to 36%
4am ~ 5am - 36% to 20%
5am ~ 9am - 20% to 14%
From 4am to 5am the number of awaken time is not high, not more than 10 times, which is normal, but it definitely dropped dramatically.
Why is this then?

"Wipe battery stats from recovery."
How do I do that?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
This is purely just an anomaly in the way the battery, and Android system interpret the information provided by the battery. If your battery level was higher, and you were able to leave your phone running for a while, you'd probably see the other anomaly related to this, which is your battery "magically" gaining charge. It is nothing to worry about really. Just charge your phone like normal and keep using the phone. The battery information gets a lot more reliable with time. As it relies on statistical information and analysis, it gets better with the more information available.
One more thing to add on.
It only happens when I take off the battery and put in back on.
Normal power off and start - same battery percentage.
Power off, reinsert battery - percentage drop at least 3%.

Yes sometimes when I reboot, I lose upto 10%. Like NZ said though, after a while you would see it rise up and regain it. Forget it, its an issue we all face.
Oh ps, all wiping battery stats does is wipe the detailed information that gives you the breakdown of usage. No help here

Normal. My S1, S2 and now S3 do this when removing the battery and at times when flashing.
In most cases when the drop was large, not using the phone for a while saw the battery % increase as if it was on charge.

It could charge without being plugged in! lol... I'm sure someday we'll have a technology that allows it. But I can't imagine that any sort of battery would ever be able to charge itself without an outside force acting on it. Unless they managed to find some chemical compound that changes the way it acts as the charge changes, sort of like starting a pendulum, where it swings back and forth losing just a little bit of power each time it changes from one state to another. That would be pretty spiffy.

Voltage drops faster, fuel gauge compensates, then as the voltage calms down as the drain load decreases, the fuel gauge will adjust the battery percentage upwards.

This seems the most likely thing, as it always happens after a large load on the battery. I guess it makes since, Li-Po batteries have a higher voltage when resting than they do when under load. So a Li-Ion should behave similar I suppose.
I have the UK International version and a big problem with the battery. I am on LF2. When I unplug the charger it takes about 30 secunds to go to 99% and from there rapidly down. I used juicedefender but this does not slow down the drain too much. Here are som ****s from Better Battry. Any help will be apprrciated!

It means the phone is 'bounce charging'. this means that when it is plugged in and reaches full charge it will stop and drain about 5% then start charging again. phones are designed to do this so you can leave it plugged in for as long as you like.
Here is a shot. I have the brightnest at around 75%.

The screen is the biggest battery drain and it is on all phones, so the higher the brightness the quicker the battery will drain. Looking at your stats you had the screen on for around an 40-60 minutes which will produce the battery use you are seeing. The S3 will give you about 3.5 hrs of screen on time tops at 75% brightness.
I use the S3 outdoors on 30-40% brightness in sunlight and it is visible so I'm not sure what you are getting at when you say you can't see it outdoors.
Who knows why the sgs2 was programmed to read 100%. In any case it was a false reading, once you unplug the charger it is physically impossible to have 100% charge, in reality it will be 99.9%...... . In my opinion the fact that the battery stats get rounded down more accurately reflects the actual charge remaining, my old sgs2 used to hang on 100% for anything upto an hour which was just plain inaccurate.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
3H26M later. I guess the bigger screen is taking much more battery juice. I was able to do a full day with S2.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
Something is wrong if you can't go a day on one charge. You should easily be able to get 4-5 hours of screen on time with reasonable brightness.
Dropping to 99% once charger is disconnected is normal, was like that on the original SGS if I'm not mistaken.

I've seen this with lots of ROMs & Kernels !!! What to do ???
Have my G5 for a few days now and I absolutely love it. The only issue I have is with the battery drain overnight. I charge my phone to 100% then unplug it and leave it overnight, when I wake up in the morning, usually 7 hours later, the battery drops down to around 70%. Any ideas why this happens? Is anyone else experiencing these results? Anyhe help would be greatly appreciated.

I got mine yesterday, and noticed it drained faster after using quick charge, I charged it with a normal charger, and stayed at 100% for about an hour of use

Mine came with the standard LG charger, not the quick charge one.
What type of charger did yours come with?

The screen when I'm using the phone, but it shouldn't be draining it when the phone sits overnight. Right? Am I missing something here?

Maybe you have always on display enabled?
I do, but it is only supposed to use .08% of battery per hour.
Do you suppose that's the culprit? Perhaps I'll shut that display off tonight and check the results in the morning.

I believe it's .8%, so basically 1% an hour. 1% over 1 day is nearly 25% of your battery if you don't touch it - that is ONLY the screen - behind the scenes you also have the processor, radio, etc. The processor is also working harder to show the AOD. I see it as a plus, but I'd turn it off myself because I don't need it. I'd rather turn the screen on once an hour rather than having it always on.
My wife says she fully charges her G5 and I'm the morning it's 100%. She says if she gets numerous texts and phone calls (from me while I'm out working on cell sites), then it's 95%.
So I think maybe you may have a renegade app running.

I just don't see the point of having an always on display if it's not worth using. WTF LG?!

The only non stock apps she installed were 2 banking apps, Netflix, and Panda Pop.
What apps have you added?

Oh man, I have 103 apps installed on here already. It'll take me a while to figure this out.

Get a wakelock detector, that's should help you see what is doing the drainage

Yeah, what Veliion said ^^^^
@dmarco First, I see that you have a very weak signal. What settings to use network mode, GSM / WCDMA / LTE auto? Try to GSM / WCDMA auto.

It is optional

Thank you all very much. I'll get a wakelock detector. And then try using different network settings. Hopefully that'll work.

I have actually been surprisingly happy with the battery life. Thinking it was going to be bad because of smaller battery i am pretty happy so far

I'm going to take a photo of my wife's screen after full charge (or mine since I will be activating my new G5 in a few minutes, once I finally decide whether or not to use Google cloud restore or the NFC feature to restore my old phone contents), and then another photo in the morning..
