Hello there I currently have an unlocked vibrant currently on the mobilicity network in Toronto, Canada.
The phone works well, no issues except for establishing and securing a connection with the network provider. Every time I go to an area where it loses service, like parking garages or subways it loses the connection- obviously- but when you get back to an area where there should be service I only connect to the roaming service. This is leading to extra costs since my plan has charges for that.
What I do now is when i go somewhere with no service i switch to flight mode. When i get back where there is service i have to usually turn the phone off and restart it and search for a network manually.
Are there any apps, hacks, or fixes that can stop me from seeing or detecting roaming services, and force the phone to lock on to my network provider's service?
I want to use it only in the current home zones, and if out of one, i accept the fact that the phone does not work at all. I am always in the coverage zone and never want to use it while roaming.
can anyone help?
At the setting, there is an option there Data Roaming, you need to check or uncheck it. Select the option that will prevent you from doing data roaming and that should fix your problem.
On the otherhand, I have a question for you. I have the same phone and same provider, mobilicity. Our problem is the 3g connection. It is spotty sometimes the 3g icon appears and then disappears. Does this happen to you? I noticed the problem occurs when I go under like basement when there is no signal. After resurfacing, I gell signal reception sometimes full but the 3g or data connection won't work. To solve this, we would usually shut down the phone and restart it. Do you experience the same problem? If yes, what was your fix. Thanks.
David
Same problem here. Any guidance will be appreciated.
I've done the suggestions for Wind but to no avail.
same mobile , same provider , same issue
hai guys i have the same issue , but my thing is more worser than you.....when ever i go to an underground parking my 3g gets turned off and wen i come out from that place i cant able to make or receive any calls .....i need to restart the phone to turn on the signal again...its really weird any one have the solution ?????
Hey all, I have a Vibrant on Wind, this is what I do.
Go to settings.
Wireless and Network -> Mobile Network -> Network Mode ->WCDMA only
This enables that you stick to Mobilicity's 3G network and not roam on the Rogers 2G network.
If you lose signal, you will not roam, but simply not be connected until you move out and pick up Mobilicity's signal again.
Hope that helps.
Mobilicity Fix.
I found this on Howard forumns:.... I know this post is old but the solution could help someone who recently bought a old for to get used to customization /flashing.>>> Hope its useful

It works!!! It totally works!!!! I love it! Thank you so much guys!!!! Now I don't have to restart my phone EVERY morning as soon as I pull out of the underground garage in my car!!!
Thank you, Thank you, THANK YOU!!!!!!
Dial: *#*#197328640#*#*
Click [1] debug screen
Click [8] phone control
Click [7] network control
Click [2] band selection
This is where you make a change, default setting is [1] automatic, which means it chooses automatically between gsm/cdma (Edge vs 3g). So we are going to change this and set it to wcdma band which is 3g.
Click [2] wcdma band
Click [1] wcdma all []
Now it should display “select wcdma all bands[*]"
Now on the bottom of your phone, click the menu key, it’s the one next to the home key, now click back, menu again one more time, back one more time, this is just to confirm it set to number 2 wcdma band.
Now click menu key one last time, click end.. and you are done. Now to double verify that the phone is locked into 3g, dial in: *#*#4636#*#*
Then click phone information Then scroll down to “set preferred network type” It should now have listed “wcdma only.” PS, if you tried to do a shortcut, and just set wcdma this way first without doing the lock above, it would just go back to gsm/cdma auto once you exit the screen.
Your phone should now be locked into 3g.

Again found on Howard forumns and copied and pasted to word doc. to keep for my mum as she gets the phone.... I got her the the 27.50 holiday plan so she can call anywhere to anyone in North america with unlimited data....coverage is good so far...
P.S. i dont allow roaming as to not incure more charges.
I know this is an oldish thread but.
Trying to fix connection issues and the Dial code does not work for me. It just does nothing when I enter that. The only code that works is *#*#4636#*#* and that does not help me.
Anyone else having this issue and know why it's not working. I have an Amaze 4G. Only posting here about this phone because this is the only thread I could find related to my issue.
Searched all over now. Those codes are to be the only solution and they don't do anything on my phone.
Anyone have answers?
I have a mytouch 4g (it's actually the htc panache) that just suddenly wouldn't connect to the network after I restarted it. When I try to add a network manually, the only option I have is to connect to Canadian roaming...
Is it normal behavior for the Amaze to take a two and a half minutes or so to find a signal for the mobile network? Also the "network mode" always defaults to "gsm/wcdma auto" even if I select GSM only.
In this time if I pull down the notification bar and go to quick settings, I am unable to check the "mobile network" the checkbox is kinda dimmed out/greyed out.
If I manually go in and search for network, it will generally connect faster.
Just wondering if this is normal or not... so I know if its a hardware issue and I should return the phone for another.
appreciate any comments.
The GSM/WCDMA selection is "normal" behavior for the amaze. (and it's extremely annoying). It seems to be a setting with the ROM and since I rooted and went with Beast, I no longer have the problem.
As for the searching for mobile network, that's sometimes normal. It generally happens when your in an area where T-Mobile is not the dominant signal and prevents you from latching on to a roaming tower rather than T-Mobile.
Hey guys,
I'm living near to the border of two countries, and travel everyday from one country to another. Since I want to be available at every time, I've set network-selection to automatic in my SGS2, so when I travel from my home country, the phone switches to another network (roaming) in the other country. :good:
BUT, when traveling back to my home country my SGS2 stays in the foreign network almost every time, and won't switch back to the home network. Is there a possibility to set up the preferred network for the phone? I remember in my old WinMo 6 Phone (HTC Wizard), there was a menu, where I could set up preferred networks.
Thanks for any advice...
Anyone?
Is there any way to prevent Android (4.1) phone from switching to another operator's network in case of poor signal reception?
Actually, the switching itself is OK, but the phone takes very long to switch back to the home network, even after the signal condition getting OK (the phone is moving in the car).
is it something that network operator can configure e.g. on the SIM card or the phone itself?
Hi all, Hoping someone can help.
I've got a Vofafone Smart Ultra 7, direct from Vodafone. Didn't need unlocking as other vendors sim worked from the off.
The phone came with 2 APN's be default, Vodafone contract, and Vodafone PAYG.
However I have a problem. I've manually created my Talkmobile APN (for UK), I can't edit/delete or anything other than view the 2 standard APN's that came on the phone. I've selected my talkmobile APN as default, and this works. I can then come and go as I please and use data.
However very frequently (maybe 50% of the time), when I leave a wireless signal area (eg home or work), I keep my talk mobile GSM connection for voice and sms, but I get no internet, I get a signal with exclamation mark (!). I have to then go into my APN's and choose one of the two vodafone defaults, wait a few seconds for it to decide it's not the right connection, then re-select my talk mobile. At this point I get my data signal back and am able to use internet data services.
I might as well just have wireless and no data on the phone for the frequency it's happening.
Any idea's? the phone's only 2 months old, and Vodafone are worse than useless, they only want to support mobile phone contracts, not their own hardware.
Thanks.
