Hi, I'm probably going to buy a galaxy s2 but I want to know some things about the telephone before..
1)how is the battery life of the s2? whit my nexus s i can get 4 hours of screen on, is the s2 better?
2)how do you update the firmware version? Does the s2 receive the OTA like the Nexus telephones?
3) will it be updated to the latest android version jelly Bean?
And the last thing.. How is it compared to a galaxy nexus?

How many hours of screen on can u get with the s2?
And has it got any known bug/defect (an example is the breakable power button of the nexus s)?
The only thing that doesn't convince me of this smartphone is the modding.. I think that it could be a little bit difficult coming from a pure Google device..

1) yes
2) that depends on your carrier but yes
3) samsung said the tests of JB on S2 were succesful....
i think S2 is better because it has an 8mp camera instead of 5mp and the biggest advantage in my opinion is that it has a slot for mini sd card

No, it's impossible.
You can't, and it would probably be cheaper to buy a new phone anyways

I'd say wait till intel gets more into it lol. We might see custom phone builders. That, might actually be not too far off.
The short answer is you wouldn't want to attempt it
Impossible
Not even worth the risk of tearing your phone apart.
If the new processor is pin-to-pin compatible to the one in your phone and you have the proper gear to make the change, everything can be possible in theory!

It is possible if the processors are pin-compatible (eg. the same family, same model scrapped from another pcb, different versions, unlocked versions etc...) but you'll need to reinstall the firmware/bootloader/system configurations... to run it
i have an S2 and noticed that touchscreen sensitivity is not as good on ICS roms (Samsung and AOSP) compared with samsung gingerbread roms.
galaxy nexus feels better than galaxy s2 with ics.
how is the sensitivity on the s3 compared to s2 (gb & ics) and nexus?
The touchscreen sensitivity on the s3 is far better then the s2. I have both and notice a very big difference. There is something like faster respons on the screen of the s3

Hi,
What a pain this Gs3 is, if I'm playing for example Gta3 and go into the browser for a quick surf once I go back to the game the game has to reload all again, did not happen with Gs2. This is the same with other applications..

I think it runs low on RAM and puts it in the cashe, that is y it reloads again. Hope this helps.

In the developer settings of the s3 you can limit the number of tasks...

I've seen some app also have to reload again after home button is pressed.
I hope Samsung will sort this issue out as soon as possible!

New firmware / samsung version is RAM killer
I had this same issue after spending a grip of hours on the phone with the tech, we came up with either the new Samsung version/firmware update is causing the phone to eat up RAM like crazy or the EXTsdcard readers are failing. i have sent back 3 phones to Samsung and after everything a factory reset "KIND OF" did it.
HOWEVER
DO NOT update Samsung Software
DO NOT update Firmware
----------------------------------------------------
I'm not sure which one is causing the issue but i found less RAM being eaten up
i.e. i'm at about 800-900MB RAM rather then 1.3 - 1.4 GB RAM....
and thats all system processes, just did a fresh factory reset.
I hope this thread can be made sticky and get some attention from the dev's.
i have an unrooted Sprint gs3 and am hoping to find a solution that doesnt involve root
I am well aware of the developer options in the settings menu and have utilized all that i thought would help. if you find anything please repost
same problem with mu s3

You could whitelist specific apps with JKay framework to avoid them being closed.
Works fine with the dialer and contracts as well...

Soooo.
Samsung is trying to bring the s3's compatible with the s4 and all these new features = Death to your ram.
By the end I sent my device back had them ship me one directly and DID NOT accept the system update. Phones back to normal and all is well... except for that damn pesky system update notice but hey f it I can deal until they discover and fix it

I've decided top but a new smartphone but I can decide between Samsung galaxy s3 or the Google nexus 4 ... Please help new decide
Thanks

Owned a nexus 4. It is honestly the best choice. It has better specifications and better dev support. But isf you are a heavy user and you play games and diqnliad tons of music, go for tye s3 because ofbthe removable battery with extended battery capablities and the mirco sd slot
Sent from that one guy with the cool phone
I'd allways take a google phone first, but (IMO) the Nexus4 sucks, so I would choose the s3
Also, if you like the pure android interface, you can allways flash the CM 10.1
regards - Cartman
i would defently go for S3
nexus 4 is boring it is so bareboned with software
and also the on screen buttons take the space away
Samsung Galaxy S3 is amazing phone, you can always flash a custom ROM which will make your phone to work as fast as Nexus 4!
And yes, Touchwiz ROM is quite slow, for example to open contacts it's takes about 4-5 seconds, but if you will flash a custom ROM this problem will gone!
Anyone else?
Thanks for the replies guys

Not really. To have off screen buttons they'd have to have made the screen smaller. If the s3 went for on screen buttons, the screen could have been longer but it would have been as useless as not being an extended screen. Buttons on screen or off screen leave the same amount of screen left over only the latter is easier

yeah but nexus 4 left a lot of space down there so the screen feels smaller than s3's
True but we dont know what's under there

So what's your decision guys ? S3 or nexus 4?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk 2
I wouldn't chose the n4 over the s3. I like things many phones dont offer such as sdcard slot and removable battery. On paper the n4 is better but its less practical for me and dull looking. I wouldn't ever buy a 1 year old phone either....
So if I was in the market today id probably go insane and put up with what I had and see what next year brings

about S3 and N4, IMHO the main different is ram.. S3 1gb (800mb) Vs N4 2Gb (1,3gb CMIIW).
whether the difference in the amount of ram has a big influence on System android? especially for Jelly Bean OS 4.1.x - 4.2.x - 4.3.

I have a stock Galaxy Player 5 and I wanted to know if it would be compatible with 64gb sd cards. Has anyone tried one with the player?
This is a good question.
I know that the compatibility is a hardware problem, but sometimes devices declared with a support for microsd with 32GBP can work without problem with 64gb without problem.
Anyone tried this with a Samsung player?
