I'm rooted and s off. I would like to flash the latest ics firmware from nils thread. My question is if I flash the .img in bootloader will I have to reinstall ra recovery again or will the s off and recovery stay the same?
Thanks

If you update your firmware...and just so we're clear...using the newest RUU then yes you will have a fresh phone...and you will need to reinstall recovery. You will still be s-off.

So I updated to the newest OTA and rooted my phone, which worked perfectly. I then downloaded ClockworkMod and flashed their recovery. Now my phone will not boot into recovery. What I would like to do it restore my phone to the original recovery? Does anyone know how to do this?
To get your stock recovery you need to flash a ruu and that will get you back to stock recovery and ROM

So I updated all radios and firmware. However no matter what ROM I use that uses the HTC base 2.17 it says no signal and phone process stops responding. It's always about 3 hours into the ROM it happens. I came from a warm ROM and a virus ROM with the same results. I have hboot 1.4 s-off.

Have you tried flashing the kernel only after the ROM?

Fix permissions from Rom Manager or the advanced option in CWM and reboot.
If that doesn't help, it's just a bad flash. Don't fret. Do an RUU and re-update the radio. There is no point in updating the firmware because when you flash a new ROM, you're replacing it. Then you can go ahead and S-OFF, root, flash a custom recovery, flash a ROM and kernel, etc.

Yes sir, fastboot flash boot boot.img would be the command to use once you set the phone to fastboot mode
Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk
Im currently on ics leak, and tried flashing cwm through cmd
"Flash fastboot recovery recovery******"
And it just gives me "waiting for device"
I'm trying to flash the superuser file to gain root then then use 4ext to flash superwipe and then flash roms.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I'm not home right now but would love some feedback

You have to have the ENG Hboot to flash a recovery. That is bug with the ICS update.
Try
Fastboot flash recovery recoveryxxxx.img
Wait....I sent this with Tapatalk?

Make sure you are in the right directory in your command prompt. The same directory as you stored fastboot and the recovery.img

Just be exact. I flashed the enghboot that was provided in the second post in football's ics leak thread.
Renamed ph85img and flashed through hboot. Flashed successfully. Removed from sd card. And now attempting root
Everythings correct ?

Are you s=off? If s=off, no need to unlock bootloader. Mine is locked.
But if you are s=on, you must unlock bootloader to install custom recovery. Just like before man

So I swear this is the last time ill use the question thread haha. I had an issue with my sdcard and internal memory being read only. I fixed it by flashing the most recent unrooted ruu. But now I'm s-off and unrooted. I flashed a custom recovery now I can just flash a Rom and that will solve the root issue?

Install Superuser zip from recovery after flashing Amon Ra. Get superuser from their website.

Don't push su from recovery, install a rooted rom and kernel.
You may need to flash an unlocked 2.27 hboot from vinylfreak or apophis in the development section if you have the stock locked hboot.

Charles is correct. If you flash superSU in recovery it'll give you.root on your.stock setup. But most roms are rooted and debloated. And come with their own kernel if you haven't decided in one in particular. If you are wanting to root your stock here is the su u need:

Make your life easy. Download 4ext from the market heres the thread for it also. Open it... and select s=on (im assuming you are s=on otherwise kernels flash automatically with the rom. flash 4ext recovery from the app. Reboot recovery. In recovery, go to settings and enable "smartflash."
Now the kernel will flash when you flash the Rom. It may reboot once right after the htc splash screen... then the rom will boot.

Boot into bootloader. It will tell you if s=on or off. If s=on, while in recovery, go to settings and enable smartflash and flash away.
If s=off... just flash away. Either way... no need to download a kernel
