hey there!!!I have a HTC amaze .am just 14 years old.I think i screwed up my phone!I had energy GB rom installed on my phone!i bought it from ebay.i wanted to install ICS on my device...i looked up the XDA forums....downloaded the energy ICS rom!I am still S-on(t-mobile)(no ext sd card).I downloaded the seperate kernel provided
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1722579
i ran flash.bat
the phone went into recovery and since then is on boot loop...my phone wont start! My dad left a couple of IMPORTANT images in my phone!!please help!!
:crying:

Look in the Development Section and find one of the Stock ICS RUUs. Rename it to PH85IMG.zip and place it on your sdcard.
Boot into bootloader and let it find it and let it update.

stay calm... here is possibly the simplest solution.
download energy gb rom again
download or extract the kernel meant to go with that rom
flash the rom
then flash the kernel (if your using 4ext recovery you shouldnt need this)
now the phone should be back to normal.

Or it works on the internal sdcard plug your phone into the computer and put the ruu on the internal sd card

What you need to do is boot into recovery. I assume you know how to do that. After you boot into recovery, press on toggle USB Storage.
You can now transfer files to your internal SD-Card, especially the ROM files.
Also, if you're lucky, you may see the DCIM folder inside the internal SD-Card. If you do, you can transfer the entire folder to your computer and hope that the said pictures are in that folder. Do this BEFORE you attempt to flash the ROM.
After you transfer it, press disconnect on the recovery, and then select install from sdcard, and then choose zip from sdcard. Select the ROM you just transferred into the phone and flash that.
Best of luck.

been hiding from dad a couple of days..i tried the steps and advice that you guys gave me!!it worked using hasoons software and flashing the earlier gb rom!
But could you guys please tell me why am i being unable to still flash to new ics rom!after i got back to the gb rom i backed up all that i needed to .and i reattempted the process of installing the energy ics rom!again i am getting stuck in the boot loop!!!what am i doing wrong
step 1:loaded energy rom into the phone
2:installed it using 4ext recovery
3:flashed the provided kernel

Because you are skipping a step. To go from gb to custom ics rom, you must first flash the ics ruu. You can't just flash nrg ics Rom, right over gb

or you can just flash the ics firmware package through the bootloader (listed on the android revolution thread)

i believe what causes the bootloop is the just the firmware being outdated.

[Q] Previous g1, mt3g, and (currently) n1 user needs eris help

Hello android community,
To make this short and sweet, I really need some advice. Was given a verizon eris today and when it boots, it goes to white screen with 3 skater droids on it, and freezes. I got into recovery and hboot, and it has a stock recovery. no idea about the firmware. but i put the image needed to root on sd and it didnt read it.
i would like to root the phone, and install a custom recovery. also, im having trouble finding the correct driver for the eris, so i cant access adb right now.
Thanks alot in advance.
The drivers, the way to get em hook your phone to comp and download HTC SYNC, it el install the drivers, as for the freezing no idea maybe bad flash on radio or Rom, no idea.

That's a stock bootloader. Do a search in the forums for the original root rom and install that via bootloader. Then you can push amons recovery via adb. If you need more detail and no one gives you any I'll elaborate after I get off work.

Wow, a 1.46.xxxx phone - the OP got an early one. 2009 phone for sure.
I guess we'll see if HBOOT/PB00IMG.ZIP works for him.
dangambino,
There are a few different HTC leaked ROMs floating around named "PB00IMG.ZIP". Make sure that you get the one with an MD5 signature of
63eacc5ede3b179f95dc22d8ef585f94 ( 107,427,740 bytes )
[ Edit ] Actually, now that I think of it - root is universal for the Eris, it really doesn't matter which PB00IMG.ZIP file he uses, so long as it isn't corrupted - install any PB00IMG.ZIP and then run the "One Click"
when I add that P00img.zip to sd, and reboot into recovery, its not reading image? anyone know why? let me try abother file and check md5 sum. be back....

PB00IMG should install in bootloader not recovery. After bootloader loads posts vol down and it should start installing. Be sure the file is named PB00IMG.zip After it installs you will have to push amons recovery via adb.

Question on installing roms on the Rezound

So I've done this before but it was long ago. I don't remember having to deal with having the PH98IMG.zip. I know there are tons of threads on here but I just kind of need a straightforward answer to the questions. I like to install my roms from the sd card. Where does the PH98IMG.zip need to reside? And do those need need to be changed per the rom? Is this actually the kernel? And so do I have to have my rom on a particular spot on my sd card? I've used CMod recovery LOTS, but that didn't work so well, so I put Amon's on, and it's working. But every time I have tried to install a ROM like I used to with my Inc, I end up stuck at the HTC screen.
Someone whos got some time to just answer these questions, I would greatly appreciate it.
Yes, the ph98 file is the kernel. Most roms include it in the Rom now and use Cons auto installer, but if not yes the file needs to be on the external sd card. Just remember to delete it after you boot up or else you wont be able to reboot to recovery.
So basically have Rom and ph98 on external sd, reboot recovery wipe and install Rom. Then boot to bootloader and it will automatically detect the file and ask you if you want to update. Select yes, then reboot. Once booted up remove ph98 file from sd card.

Also, if you are getting stuck on the white HTC screen most likely you need to flash the kernel for that ROM. If you are on a GB ROM you need a GB kernel, ICS needs ICS kernel. So if you switch from one to the other without flashing the kernel you will get that issue.
The kernels are usually the PHzip files. They can also be flashed in fastboot by pulling the boot.img out and using the following command:
fastboot flash boot boot.img

I have tried both Ineffabilis and BAMF, which I thought they both had the kernel in them. But I still got stuck at the HTC screen. I'm trying to figure out what I am missing. I know how to install thru the manager. I tried it from both the ext storage and then the internal storage. Wiped cache and all that jazz.
I shouldn't have to remove the rom from the card to reboot should I? I never did before. I just checked and yeah they both have the kernel.
I'm perplexed.
Thanks for answering tho. This is buggin the crap out of me.
You know I have had troubles getting my computer to show my ext card...I wonder if that has something to do with it?
I don't have to mount anything in the Amon's recovery do I?

These two roms tho, they have kernels in them, according to the write-up on them.

So I should be able to just flash those and it should reboot as normal right?
*edit* I just re-read your post and I wanted to make sure I understood..maybe this is what I need to understand. SO if I am on a GB rom, do I need to flash the ICS kernel ONLY before I put on a ICS rom? We didn't have to do that before either with Honeycmb/GB, at least I don't remember....I think I'm gettin too old for this stuff. lol

Yes, you only need to flash a ICS kernel when flashing an ICS rom. I think I read that the kernel autoinstaller isn't working properly on ieffibilis. I know I had trouble and had to manually flash the stock OTA kernel to get it booting . I then installed incredikernel beta 6 afterwards.
Nvm about comment on ineffibilis, I just clicked your links and both are ICS roms that you tried. I bet for whatever reason the kernel didn't flash properly so you still have the GB kernel so it won't boot. Actually, both your links show that the kernel needs to be downloaded separately hence the separate link for the PH98IMG file. Download that separate kernel for whatever rom you want to flash and start over.

I did have one of the kernels but I didn't do it first. I'll try that and see if I can get something running. Thanks for your help guys. It's kind of starting to come back to me now. lol I never did really mess with using diff kernels much, just roms. And using Amon is kind of throwing me off.
So flash the kernel. Then the rom. And delete the kernel off the card after installing it. Got any suggestions on a good kernel? Looking for stable.

I put both files on external SD, reboot to recovery.. wipe everything , flash rom.. then back out to main menu in recovery and choose developer menu.. then select reboot to bootloader. Once,in bootloader select fastboot.. it will then check the sd and recognize the ph98zip file and ask if you want to update..select yes and it will install the kernel then just select power to reboot and you should now have rom and kernel installed and it will boot fully into rom. Then remember to remove that ph98 file off the SD card.
I usually just stick with stock, but I have had good luck on ICS with the overlocked stock unsecured kernel that is overclocked to 1.7 . GB , I have had really good luck with incredikernel and anthrax, but anthrax is a tad touchy.
Thanks so much for all your help. There is so much to read thru.
Flashing now!!
I dunno what the hell is wrong, but I just can not get this thing workin. I followed your explanation to the T. I'm sitting here with the white screen again. I watched it flash the kernel so I know it found it. I've never had this much trouble flashing/romming.
I'm trying a diff rom now. I don't know what else it could be.

Here try this .. download Nil's newest ICS rom, put at the root of the external SD card, reboot into recovery and wipe data/factory reset, wipe dalvik, then flash rom. His rom will automatically install the kernel and reboot you into fastboot so you can update the kernel.
Nil's rom's are as stable and easy to install so if you have trouble with his something is wrong with your install process .

Yes, don't put it in a folder. Then , the kernel is not being flashed correctly. It would ask you to update in fastboot and you would have to push volume up to select yes.
1. Download Nil's rom and place at the root of the external SD card.
2. reboot to amon ra recovery
3. Wipe data/factory reset and wipe Dalvik
4. select flash zip menu
5. select the Nil's rom zip and it will ask you to push power to confirm. push power and confirm and the rom should begin installation.
6. Once the rom , is done installing you will be automatically booted into the bootloader then fastboot will be highlighted so push power to confirm. It will then begin scanning your SD card and find the ph98zip file Nil's rom installed.
You should see it parsing.. then it will ask you if you want to update volume up to confirm (yes ) so hit volume up.
It should then show unzipping..installing and done. Only option should show to press power to reboot phone.
7. It will reboot and then should load rom and kernel now correctly.

Yeah see all the other times I installed the kernel, it never asked me, it just automatically went thru the list searching, and would find it and stop when it found it, and install it. Or maybe it stopped and just skipped it?
Now when I installed this rom, I see that it installed the kernel correctly. And yes this rom is working and installed just fine. two things different. Not putting it into a folder, and the way fastboot behaved with the PMimg file.
So do you have any ideas what would make it do that? The PMimg file? There isn't really anything I've done different. I rename it, and put it in the root of the card.
And now I am assuming I can install a rom over this one without changing the kernel, right?

Well, technically you would install a different kernel for the particular rom, but since most of the ICS kernels are basically all the same you would probably be ok as long as its another ICS rom.
Definately have to reflash a GB kernel if you go back to a GB rom though. Not sure why the others didn't work as long as you renamed it correctly to PH98IMG.zip it should have worked the same way.

If you were putting the ROMs into a folder, it wasn't flashing the ROM. It was however flashing the kernel and that left you on a stock GB ROM with an ICS kernel. That's probably why you were getting the white screen.

Nevermind. My fingers are gettin tired from doin this. lol
You'll want to make sure you go into settings, power, and uncheck fastboot. If it's enabled you'll have to pull the battery to use power and volume to boot into recovery. Or you can use an app that will allow you to boot into recovery from the power menu when you long press power. Some ROMs have this built into the power menu. The fastboot setting keeps the device from powering down all the way.

Yeah, I've always had it built into the power button menu, but especially with the way the Rezounds buttons are I would think they'd make that a priority. Thanks for the tip on the settings. I didn't know you could do that.

Cant get into recovery

So I was using CWM 5.0.2.6, then flashed the touch version of CWM because i was getting "installation aborted" error when trying to flash a rom. i was getting the same error when i flashed the touch version, so i decided to go back
I was using command prompt, Now my phone doesnt go past the white HTC screen, and when i try to go into recovery from the bootloader screen it just reboots the device.
any ideas guys?? i did flash a few kernels during the process because i was just changing roms, as i usually do and nothing ever happens.
Try putting the recovery on your SD card and flash through fastboot by pushing power and vol down? You might want to read around, you may have to rename. I've never done it this way

I think you have to rename the recovery to PH85IMG.zip and boot your phone into fastboot, and it should recognize it and flash that way. I'm looking for the forum post now.

The dev of the ROM you are trying to use never updated the meta-inf script for the new version of CWM

you put your SD card into your computer via microSD adapter and load the recovery and then EJECT SAFELY and put back in your phone

You have to notify the dev what I told you or else you can't use newer recoveries for the ROMs you use.

guess i lucked out, the computer im using is from 2002
biggest piece of garbage ever
going to go ask my brother to use his galaxy s2 with ym sd card and mount that
What ROM were you using? If it was 3.5 or the 4th Bar ROMS, I think I've read an issue somewhere on both threads saying you may have to use an older or specific recovery
i was using 3.5 sense, and tried going to beastMod, then got installation aborted on both recoveries =/
EDIT
its not noticing the file"" it scans in the bootloader then it says "no image"
EDIT again
accidentally put the word "zip" in the folder name
EDIT
YAAYY!! its working!! flashing fourthbar sense now

Stuck in Recovery and Can't Mount SD

Complete NEWB here, I tried to flash my first rom and clearly did something wrong, and I'm not sure what exactly, but now I can't mount my sd card to flash a new rom and I'm stuck in recovery. Can someone please give me instructions to load a new rom onto the internal storage so I can flash from there? Is that possible?
You can try to push the files using fastboot push <filename> from your pc. Also when installing a ROM you must do a factory reset in recovery. Oh and always make a nandroid backup before flashing anything

Don't know if you just want to just load a new rom onto the storage. Maybe it will be helpful to find out why things haven't worked out with the current set-up.
Questions... S-on or S-off, GB firmware or ICS., what recovery? Which Rom.
I'm thinking you flashed an ICS Rom on GB firmware and you didn't flash the SD Card Patch that is required. If that is the case, all you'll need to do is flash the patch.

i was trying to flash rezrom, and i was trying to multitask while doing that, I guess clearly a bad idea when you really arent sure of what you are doing haha. but pretty much i moved the file onto my phone and flashed it. so ya i must have missed some steps. but i'm not sure what my next step should be, so i thought it would be easier to flash a different rom

[Q] My phone is stuck in boot. PLEASE HELP!!!

I was flashing MeanBean to the newest version 3.09 from 3.07 i was currently on. I cleaned delvik and cache hell I even did the system and it sits in boot. So after many reflashed of 3.09 i finally decided to flash a different rom all together. That rom stays in boot. I'm S-on btw. I dont know what to do. I'm disabled and live alone so I need my phone. Thank you guys very much in advanced.
Sounds like your TWRP may need to be upgraded to the latest. You will have to go to the teamwin website and update using fastboot since you can't boot into the rom. If you have a nandroid backup you should try to restore that first.

You just need to be able to get to the bootloader. So long as you have your PC/Linux set up with adb you can run the adb fastboot command and install the recovery then adb reboot.

Here's a zip of 2.4.1.0 I found from the TWRP thread in the Original Android Dev board. Can't find a zip of the latest. This one should serve you well though.
Rename to PJ75IMG.zip and place in the root folder of your SDCARD, then boot to bootloader.

First, make sure you renamed it properly.
Then, make sure you're putting it in your external SD card, not your internal. If you don't have an external, then just place it in /sdcard
You would be right!!!

When i bring up the bootloader it update twrp and when i select recovery, it reboots to a black screen. How do i pull out the file so it doesnt reinstall twrp every time. It wont open twrp so i can remove the zip. Could that zip file be bad?
Do i need to select clear storage in bootloader?
Does it take time for twrp to load? I dont remember my phone doing this on the last twrp install.
Just remove the SDCARD from the back and you won't have it try to install it every time.
It doesn't take long for TWRP to load really. After the installation, boot into the Recovery through the bootloader.
If he is s-on I didn't think he could flash a recovery through the bootloader.
Update your drivers and try to install the recovery through fastboot.
You didn't need to make a new thread in the wrong section for help as people were already helping you.
