Screen flash - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys, I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask but, is it possible to make screen flash when someone is calling?Like iPhone has camera flashing when someone is calling. My phone doesn't have camera flash so I'm looking for a way to make the screen blink.

Why would you want this? If the screen was flashing during a call you could never answer it (unless you're still using one of those old school Androids with a send and end button)

Not only that. The phones LIGHT UP when u get a call, why does it need to flash too? When it lights up, u know to answer it. :what:

[HELP] Capacitive touch issue

Hi all,
I've a "little" problem with my touch screen, it doesn't work ( doesn't react but displays well) , but i said little because just one part isn't working (approximately from 200 px to 430 on the Y axis).
The problem seems to be hardware caused, i've tried to install an other ROM ( the problem appeared while using CM7 and i tried with CM9 ROM without success).
Someone else already experienced this issue ? Could this be caused because of a ROM or software (i havent overclocked my device, it rarely fell to the ground and the screen isn't broken....), Could he be repaired?
Thank in advance ans i'm sorry for my bad English ,
Batlac.

This is a well known issue and is most likely caused by the digitizer. You'll most likely need to replace it, unfortunately. They go for at least $45 on eBay.
The only alternative is the PDS fix, which didn't work for me. I can't give you links as I don't have enough posts, but I've found what I needed on this site (and youtube for the digitizer replacement video) simply using search.
Thanks , The PDS fix isn't working for me too, I'll try to repair manually my phone :-\

i had the same issue. i even tryed flash sbf and the pds fix....nothin
i had to do a warranty replacement, the sbf flash atleast get rid of the unlocked symbol at the front if your catching my drift
The SBf flash isn't dangerous? I want to use the warranty too because the replacement is expensive...
What SBf did you flash?
Thanks!

it seem to be a PDS partition problem... if you flash it with any sbf the problem will still be there... try to make a restore of a previous nandroid when u didn't had that problem...
(sorry about my english)
Arf I haven't got any Nandroid backup and the links from the "Atrix Firmwares Superthread" are deads...
Someone knows where I can find some stock SBF files ?

This is not a Software problem, try this and tell back what you got
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1719653
If it doesn't work then you will have to buy a new digitizer.
It doesn't work :-\
I'll try to hide the unlocked mention but I don't know if it's possible

[Q] Dead Active

Hey, everyone.
I'm trying to fix my brother's Active and not having much luck. I've been doing intermediate level android stuff since the HD2, so I'm not quite a rookie at troubleshooting. He said that he was at school, checked his texts, then the screen went out. So, that's where I'm at. I can't even really tell if it's a software error or a hardware error. The phone turns on, vibrates and the LED lights and that's about it.
Thanks for any help
Looks like it's bricked... but I'm not expert enough to say that for sure.

If you had unlocked bootloader: Flashtool
If you had locked bootloader: Update Service and try repairing the firmware.
Both ways, you lose your data.
try to repair it via SEUS or pc companion or otherwise send it in to repair

See my tutorial to root (Check Signature). There in the first step, you will learn how to flash a ROM using flashtool. Choose and firmware of your choice, and taking help of the tutorial flash it using flashtool.
For another tutorial you can check someguyfromhell's sticky at this forum.
Thanks,
Rick

No, thankfully I didn't make THAT mistake, or my previous post probably would have been my last ever. I charged it and, unfortunately, am back to square one. Same as the original problem
I have some experience with active.
Can you tell me more specific.
1.About the problem
2.modding history of the phone.(like root or unlock bootloadet)

The phone does absolutely nothing except vibrate a tiny bit when you turn it on. So the most frustrating part, to me, is I can't really tell if it's a hardware error or software. I'm leaning toward software because even after I let it boot for a long time, I can't get the screen or any of the buttons to cause a vibration. BUT I also don't know if my brother had it set to vibrate on the lock screen like I always do.
From messing around with Flashtool I found out the bootloader is unlocked, but nothing custom has been done to it.

So you think it's the screen? Is there a way to check without actually replacing it?

Okay, let says the screen got problem.the screen just have blank display right?
Try to put a sim card that doesn't have security pin when turn on.
After turn on wait for a few minutes and the try to call it.if the phone rings.the display surely defective.

Hmm I think you can open your phone (DON'T DO IF YOU DON'T HAVE ANY EXPERIENCE WITH HARDWARE) and take the LCD screen and take it to nearest service shop to check whether it's working or not...and other possibility that your phone screen cannot be turn on is the screen power might got shot and burnt (like black out in a house, the power supply is shot )

In Call Volume

What controls in call volume? Is it kernel or the radios? I've seen patches to fix the volume in sense 4 roms, but what do they actually do? Just curious and trying to learn as much as possible. If there's a file or set of files that can be modified, what are they and how can I edit them? Thanks

Could someone help me out with this? It seems like every other Rom I flash has no in call volume, mostly sense 4 and aosp roms. Someone has got to know what files to tinker with to correct this issue. I know its not hardware, I'm on the stock ruu leak now and its fine, and I wipe thoroughly between every Rom. I'm willing to donate $10 big bucks on my payday to anyone who can successfully help me. And I know that's not a lot, but its a 6pk of brew and a pack of smokes or coffee for a couple days or hours depending on the person. I'm desperate right now. Thanls

There is app called Call Recorder which turns on speaker phone, makes it significantly louder than usual. It records all phone calls. This may not be legal in your state unless you answer each call by informing the other party that the call is being recorded.

Thanks, but no thanks, I'm looking for a more permanent fix or a systematic fix, its something in the coding between roms that's making the in call volume suck.

Back in the CM7 days on the Eris, we used to flash a patch to really crank up all the volume. I still had the patch sitting in my dropbox and I'll upload it here if you'd like to take a look.

Thanks man, I was hopeful, but it wouldn't flash, and when I manually moved it to the etc folder it broke the radios.

can i replace the digitizer only ? or do i have to replace the whole screen ? & thanks for the reply
It is technically possible to separate the screen and digitizer, but very difficult. If you search here you will find many people who destroyed either the screen/new digitizer/both in the process.
Repair shops usually only replace the complete assembly, for good reason.
