[Q] touch screen (digitizer) not working - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

after flashing note 2 (CWM) by mistake  touch screen is not responding :crying:. any solutions rather than factory reset and flashing stock rom via odin ??

If you haddnt fried your screen best way is to try to flash via odin. Try to boot up even if hour screen isnt working and try to flash
if helped press thanks

Its definitely hardware issue. No matter wat u flash on ur fone, nth will work. Only replacement of digitizer.

can i replace the digitizer only ? or do i have to replace the whole screen ? & thanks for the reply

It is technically possible to separate the screen and digitizer, but very difficult. If you search here you will find many people who destroyed either the screen/new digitizer/both in the process.
Repair shops usually only replace the complete assembly, for good reason.

Complete brick help =(

So...
Rooted phone, downloaded ROM Manager, wanted to try out ROMs and was informed that I needed CWM Recovery to do so.
So, I select to install it and am prompted to pick my device from the list. It isn't there so I select "huwai pulse". Installation successful etc...
I attempt to backup my current ROM and immediately after selecting it, the screen goes black. Nothing happens. The power keys don't work, I can't boot into recovery, nothing happens when I plug it in, it is as good as a dummy display phone.
Can anyone help me rectify this?
Please don't question what I've done. I'm not after a lecture. I'm just interested in fixing my phone.
Thanks guys =)

[HELP] Capacitive touch issue

Hi all,
I've a "little" problem with my touch screen, it doesn't work ( doesn't react but displays well) , but i said little because just one part isn't working (approximately from 200 px to 430 on the Y axis).
The problem seems to be hardware caused, i've tried to install an other ROM ( the problem appeared while using CM7 and i tried with CM9 ROM without success).
Someone else already experienced this issue ? Could this be caused because of a ROM or software (i havent overclocked my device, it rarely fell to the ground and the screen isn't broken....), Could he be repaired?
Thank in advance ans i'm sorry for my bad English ,
Batlac.

This is a well known issue and is most likely caused by the digitizer. You'll most likely need to replace it, unfortunately. They go for at least $45 on eBay.
The only alternative is the PDS fix, which didn't work for me. I can't give you links as I don't have enough posts, but I've found what I needed on this site (and youtube for the digitizer replacement video) simply using search.
Thanks , The PDS fix isn't working for me too, I'll try to repair manually my phone :-\

i had to do a warranty replacement, the sbf flash atleast get rid of the unlocked symbol at the front if your catching my drift
The SBf flash isn't dangerous? I want to use the warranty too because the replacement is expensive...
What SBf did you flash?
Thanks!

This is not a Software problem, try this and tell back what you got

If it doesn't work then you will have to buy a new digitizer.

This should be in Q&A section.
You need to provide more details. Are you rooted? What rom you using? Perhaps try list some apps you think may be the caused.

no its not rooted. i think the applciation might that is when i uninstall the GTrace or someting. coz its awlays pop-up on my divice. what is rom? sorry im newbie on andriod.
As usual, try uninstall any apps you suspect is the caused. If problem still persist, factory reset should solve it.
About rooting and rom, you can start learning from here:

I'm sure they will just replace faulty parts. Just in case, make sure you check for any scratched when they return it to you.

UPDATE..
According to service center they need to replace my S3 main board and it will took for a while.. huhuhu. is this acceptable? my S3 is just morethan a month old i bought it last week of June do i need to demand to replace a whole unit? coz imworried about how they gonna replace the mainboard. some tech dont use hands gloves to avoid static or to avoid contaminate the parts of deivce. pleae give some advice.
I don't think they will exchange the whole unit for you even if you demand for it. Under warranty they have the right to repair only the faulty parts. Hope everything goes well the repairs.

Your problem has been posted before.
Searching will find it.
From what I remember the voltage powering the screen is different between s3 and note 2.
In short your screen is now broken and needs a service repair.
Maybe somebody can correct me if I'm wrong.

Took seconds to find, you need a new screen by the looks of it. Send it to samsung or get it done at a repair shop.

[Q] Samsung logo appears on the screen and the phone locks up

Hi
Samsung galaxy s3 GT-i9300 did an auto update and a few hours later the phone shut down and would not restart. When you attempt to restart the Samsung logo appears on the screen and the phone locks up until you either hold down the power button which causes it to reboot and again lock up when the samsung logo appears or remove battery.
Have tried a hard reset by holding the vol home and power buttons but it won’t reset. The only thing it will do is go in to flash custom rom mode.
Has this happened to any of you guys?
Has anyone got any idea what I could do??
P.s the phone is a standard uk sim free phone and it has not been poked with.... no custom roms no root…
Thanks

Hi
i've been through the stickies a few times and if something was relevant to me i either missed it or I didn't understand it.
As i can't get into hard reset by pressing vol up plus home plus power am i right to say i also can't get into the recovery.
i was hoping when that chap mentioned recovery there was a different method of getting there.
the phone is able to only go in to one mode... pressing volume down plus home plus power gets into a os downloading mode.
I tried to use kies with this mode but it doesn't seem to see the phone when connected to usb (pc beeps when phone is plugged in it installs something drivers I think) I was hopping to use recovery firmware in kies..
Any ideas
Thanks

Follow the guide in stickies to flash the full stock rom using odin, in download mode. Uninstall kies first.
Or return to Samsung for warranty repair.

I think the phone comes with 24 month manufacturers warranty in Europe. I need to send mine in too (SDS) and waiting for the "jiffy bag". I have a small bump on the back cover, would that make em think its a drop defect? Can they take it in without the back cover, in the email they say phone and battery nothing else.

I mean the bump is on the cover only it is definitely a SDS issue it was working fine long after the bump which was light. I was wondering whether they will see the bump as a drop defect and say thats why the phone doesn't work?

Odd for all they would know I changed my cover with a broken one, but yeah i can see em getting a hook on every little thing.
Edit: I forgot to mention I have a half SDS where I can get into download mode but the product name is blank and the status Custom. Strangely though I cannot always get into download mode It is quite random, sometimes it lets me most of the time it doesn't.

Hi
. When I phoned Samsung the bloke told me not to send in the back cover or the battery.
All they wanted was the phone.
And he made the point of telling me that 2 or 3 time

This is what they sent me "Please ensure that you only send the device itself with the battery, remove all SIM cards/microSD cards and back up any important files." Nothing about the cover but battery seems to be important. The phone cant turn on and I even told them that so I dunno how I'm supposed to back up important files.
