Galaxy S3 Battery Improved? - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I would like to ask if i have better battery life because i'm using phenomenal kernel 2.0 extreme. I'm not sure if this improves my battery. Here is the battery stats.

Stock kernel is always best battery life for me mate. Always has been.
But its a personal thing that only you should judge. Don't be so lazy to ask us to examine your battery stats maaan

+1 Stock kernel gives the best battery life, benchmark orientated users use other kernels.

And why would you need to overclock this phone I wonder.

yeah absolutely! it's kinda weird you know..usually custom kernel will make stock kernel better. but not in s3..maybe devs need to explore more about quad core..

I find undervolting far more useful. Saves a lot of juice

Lets get this straight... UV is used to find stability not save battery life. It is a few mV not a lot. It doesnt impact a lot!

siyah kernel v1.4 or v1.5

which one do you suggest for s3? which one has the better battery life?
thanks for your answers.
1.4 for me. Why not test it tho

so why many people use siyah kernel or similar ones?
Overclocking. But unless your a ridiculously heavy user... u don't need too on this quad core beast

Of course custom kernels offer undervolting.. which greatly improves battery. Slows the phone down though.. and that is if its stable.

Undervolting doesn't actually slow down the phone, the CPU still runs at the same speeds just on a lower voltage. I have undervolted my s3 by -75mv per step and it is still very stable and runs the same as before, and now my.battery life is amazing

Often cause of being.able.to modify different parts, and the audio tweaks on siyah are really good

Well...
Dude, i think i should not answer it as you are asking personally from one person....
But heres my opinion->
I tested about 4 Kernels.
And it was strange to see that none was there with 0 problems. Everyone had some or other problem.
My mission was overclocking.
No kernel worked well except Siyah.
So i will only refer Siyah.
About versions, i would choose the latest as it may have more features and less bugs.
So just go for latest.

Jaskaran probably just answered your question but I use siyah v 1.5 beta 4,.so the latest one pretty much. The stock settings of the kernel are good but if.youre looking to tweak and don'tknow what you're doing there's a good.guide in the 2ND post of the official thread
Sorry, can't link you it.. Still Under 10 posts haha

Should I change from super nexus to resurrection Jb

Im thinkg of it bcuz of the battery
When I used to be on stock ICS
My battery lasted for at least 10hours
Now on super nexus I get 4-5 hours Maximum
when I flashed the ROM I had 80 charged
After flashing the ROM I did an battery calibrating too
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
Try different kernels. ROM has small impact on battery life.
I'm kinda newbie
Can suggest me a good kernel?

Asking which ROM/KERNEL/MODEM is best is against the XDA rules ma8
since the varibles are too high, do please try it on ur own and see the results
Siyah/fluxi/dorimanx/dreamkernel.
I am having great performance using the Dorimanx kernel but take a look in the development thread and try them out. Make sure you leave them as standard settings and try for a few days to settle. Have fun and experiment.

CyanogenMod 10.1

Hello everyone. So basically i have a question. Is anyone facing lags on cm 10.1 new nightlies? O have a lot of time with this rom, and i must say that 10.0 was much more smoother (at least for me)
On 10.1 even the homepage is choppy... I'm running Pegasusq overclocked 1.7 GHz with deadline scheduler... any advice you would give me?
Best regards

I felt the latest PA ROM was quite laggy too...
Use Siyah kernel and I have a few tips for settings:
--Over clock to 1.5GHz
--use lulzactiveq
--turn gentle fair sleepers off
--set touch boost to 1000Mhz (or more if you want)
--turn android logger off
I also undervolt all frequencies by 75mv.... I do a lot of PC tweaking and you'd be surprised how much that little amount can reduce cpu temps.
Hope it helps. Did for me.

It isn't really noticeably different to stock settings tbh.. (I.e. still not a patch on Samsung). Give it a go and see how you get on. It definitely makes the ROM smoother.

That means better than a normal cm 10.1 (sigh)

I have read comments from several devs that claim that this makes no difference and that those saying it does are experiencing the placebo effect
Addition: in case you are experiencing scrolling lag in any apps, make sure you have force GPU rendering ticked in developer options!! Absolute necessity in any JellyBean ROM.

Battery drain

After updating my s2 to 4.1.2. Something sucks my battery incredibly... i have power saving options ON and juice defender... i don't even used it....

Re: Baterry drain
Okay. First: you got no question but posted just a statement.. Second: how should we know what's the cause of this? There are plenty of threads about battery drain in JB, so I suggest you read them first. Good luck.

Get rid of Juice Defender for a start. That app was created purely to Hoover money from n00bs in the case of the paid versions & to lull n00bs into falsely believing the app actually makes a difference to battery life (all versions including the free one).

Fantastic. Those two screen shots tell us the secrets we need to know so we can replicate this incredible battery life for ourselves. I must rush out & try them now (Yes I'm being sarcastic).
Yeah. This is just incredible..previously I was on xwlsd..
I belong to neat family.. lol
