Just received dock for tf201 - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

Ok, I may as well make this my first post so if it is deemed silly I will have the built in excuse!
I just purchased the keyboard/dock for the tf201. How do I set it up? I don't see the switch/button to unlock the positioning where the tablet will plug into.. anyone who purchased one must know what I mean and how to help.
Thanks (and if more details are needed let me know)

There are two rubber stoppers on either side of the charging port of the tablet. Remove those stoppers and make sure there isn't anything over the connector on the dock and just slide the tablet into the docking cradle of the dock until it clicks. The tablet will automatically recognise that the keyboard dock has been attached and you'll be good to go.

G Tablet case with USB Keyboard

Greetings all,
I saw this auction, and am honestly surprised I haven't seen anyone bring it up here. I'm honestly curious about it (specifically, how tight it fits), so I'm wondering if anyone is willing to bite? I already bought a different case through the same seller, so I'm strapped to purchase another one, but if someone picks this up and reviews it, I wouldn't mind selling my current one for this bad boy.
Anyone??
When I bought my G-Tablet it came with this case/keyboard combo. Here are some quick thoughts on it:
-its a great combo and does exactly what it needs to do
-build quality of the case is pretty good, materials feel a tad cheap
-stand on the back is VERY useful, held to the case with a magnetic enclosure
-tabs that hold the tablet in place are metal, tablet is held loosely in place on 3 of the four sides, it IS possible that it could slide out if you carry it wrong
-hidden magnet in the "spine" holds the USB plug in place
-keyboard keys are a little small, some keys are tightly crammed into the bottom right hand corner (. , / and shift plus direction arrows)
If anyone has any specific questions, just send me a PM.
Notice the tablet they are showing is not the Gtablet
You can buy these on Amazon for about the same price, if you don't want to mess with an auction.
I ordered one and it was shipped really quickly. It is about worth what you pay for it. It feels a little cheap, but the keyboard seems well-made and sturdy. The keyboard works perfectly fine (Vegan) and it is pretty easy to get it hooked up. The only potential problem I see with it is that there is nothing other than the clasp at the top to hold it in. I certainly wouldn't turn it upside down.

I mean granted. But they had the other G Tablet case that doesn't have the G Tablet shown in pics, and one of the XDA board members showed it off, and it's a nice, snug fit.
i purchased this case directly from the sellers website. i used it often. it is china-based, so i did wait about 30 days for delivery.
i am completely satisfied with it given the price.
Do not buy
This case looks and feels really cheap. It is made from shiny plastic. You will have to remove the metal tab that is on the left side of this case to access the USB port. It doesn't hold the gTab secure at all, it will slip around a lot. The keyboard is plastic and not silicone so it will constantly rub against the screen.
There's already a thread here that people have been discussing this case for months and it is a piece of junk.
Ordered and returned two of these
Each case with keyboard I ordered was defined as specifically made for the Gtab, but in order to use the usb port, I had to bend the left tab out of the way. Each vendor did issue a refund.
I thought the case was ok, and the keyboard worked fine. But having to adjust the tab was unacceptable.
I' m patiently waiting for the bluetooth keyboard and case to arrive at electroniccrap.com.

i got it . keyboard works very well . But tablet doesn't fit tight and you need an other cable to connect from keyboard's cable to g-tablet's usb ^^ it's not really good
Here is a video review of this case made by moi.
Before you roll on the floor laughing at my Asian accent, damn it I'm trying the best I can.
Ok, here it is.
I recieved mine from Amazon a few days ago. Tablet didn't fit in it at all until I bent the Tabs in to hold it better. And you still have to be careful that it doesn't fall out the end. Turns out I don't think I'll use it that much at all anyway, since I mostly use my tablet on the job site. Unless you REALLY need a keyboard, you're better off spending a couple of bucks and download thumb keyboard.

Bluetooth keyboard support is "iffy", at best. Good luck though.
I have one that I got a few days ago from Amazon.
I am not having any problem with it fitting correctly, so it may be that they are just not very consistent.
You do have to be careful about it sliding out the one side when carrying it around and the one clasp does cover the small USB in port for connecting to a computer.
In my case the USB cable had no problem reaching.
The kick stand is a nice feature.
All in all am find it useful but it does have some short coming, so it would not be for everyone, and there are probably better ones out there, though for the price and am happy with this unit so far.
Case/keyboard on Amazon
Newbie here. Got my gtab a week ago and have been looking at this case/keyboard combo. Am I crazy? I thought these were $30-$35 a few days ago. Now $127.50?????
[I tried to post the link ..... but newbies can't.]
THAT ...... is no bargain.
And a big thank you to all who post the good info here!
I just received mine from an Amazon seller...they said it was the Gtab model...
It doesn't work. I plugged it in...can't figure out how to get it to work.
Anybody have any ideas?

Did you plug it in before booting up the tablet? It seems to not work sometimes if you plug it in after the tablet is already booted up.

That worked...I now have a G-TableTop
I got one of these but it was the one marked for Apad/Epad/Gtab so needless to say it doesnt fit exactly but it wasnt a big deal. I am not having to many problems with the case in any way infact my stylus clips on the band quite nicely. I have noticed that the caps lock doesnt seem to work but thats another issue for another day.
Anybody find another case?
Been checking this thread and I am wondering if anyone has found a good keyboard/case? I would appreciate a link if you have found one. Thanks.

Another Car Dock option

I held off getting a car dock for my Captivate since i knew i was getting a new car (mounting would have been much different). now that things are settled with the SGS2, i finally got around to ordering my dock...
http://www.proclipusa.com/brodit-de...d-cigarette-lighter-adapter-512255-18750.aspx
great options from ProClip USA, but since my car's cig lighter is behind my right arm (07 S2000) the only option i had was to get the hard wired one (http://www.proclipusa.com/brodit-de...cord-for-fixed-installation-513255-18750.aspx). when i get this installed and wired up, i'll post pics. i'm going to love the set up, now i'll just need to buy a new BT (A2DP) enabled HU so i can eliminate all visible wires from my cabin...
pics to follow
this car dock is amazing... i just installed it and hard-wired it into my cigarette lighter for power, and it works perfectly. the phone fits in nice and snug, yet pulls out easily (but not too easily that it would ever just fly out on its own).
does the dock accept the phone with a case on .. or is it a pretty snug fit?
buy the adjustable one. have had mine for my last 3 smartphones.

If you have multiple vehicles, or phones also consider the proclip quick release system.

Do you keep the phone on it's side like that? Do you have issues during a turn? The website mentions issues with cell/gps signals with the phone horizontal. Do you see that? Are the 'arms' that hold the phone made of metal or plastic?
Same questions to the guy above who said he had the adjustable version. I was thinking, I'd like to do a micro-usb charging/AUX analog audio output cable (instructions are on this forum). I'd like to keep my case though. And this looks like the perfect solution. I might have to fab something up to put the phone on my dash above the stereo (for optimum viewing/GPS angle). Any thoughts on that idea? Thanks!

no problems with GPS while the phone is is landscape mode. no issues while turning either as the phone fits very snugly in there. the sides that hold the phone in are thick plastic and have "channels" for where the phone slides in.

Portfolio Style Case to fit Transformer + Dock?

Hey guys I have been searching for a long time now for a folio style case that will fit the transformer WHILE docked. Searching here found me nothing.
I have only EVER found two (on amazon) that fit exactly what i am looking for but they have had mixed reviews.
I was just wondering if anyone else has seen anything like or has any experience with the following cases:
This one has a removable section for the keyboard dock which clips on to the main tablet case (which has its own cover for when not using it with the dock)
http://www.amazon.com/ASUS-Transformer-KeyBoard-Portfolio-MiniSuit/dp/B005JFIS50/ref=lh_ni_t
This one is a single piece built for use with the dock all the time.

Thanks in advance guys.
I bought this one from amazon, and I love it.

Yes and no. without the keyboard in, there is nothing to keep it from sliding out the bottom, but you can hold it. I'll upload a pix when I get home from work showing it if you want. Kind of hard to explain.

Thats why i was leaning more towards the one with the removable part for the keyboard (the first one i linked to).
That way you can use it with and without the keyboard and still be fully covered.
personally i find all these cases aesthetically horrible, i really dont want huge triangular bits of leather on the keyboard corners and the leather around the screen it just makes what is a beautiful tablet look like something out of miami vice!
but maybe thats just me.
LOL i do agree with it taking away from the beauty of the tablet, but im not a fan of sleeves and need something that i can keep on it at all times or whenever i need it. There are so many nicer ones (i.e the official transformer folio, looks smiliar to the ones made for ipads), but they are made for the tablet alone and must be removed to dock it, which sucks.

like i said you cant close the case completely with the dock attached, but when i am out and about i just detach the dock from the tablet and put the whole caboodle in this:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Protective-...EC/ref=sr_1_32?ie=UTF8&qid=1327364719&sr=8-32
Yeah i remember seeing that blurex one and loved it because it doesnt have a bezel it has less noticeable clips which shows off the transformer much better. How is the hold though? how exactly does it work?
But yeah im not a fan of sleeves. so that would be out of the question for me (although it seems like thats the only option sometimes)

Yeah, BULL3TPR00F, I'm in the same boat in terms of what I want.
I'm not sure if its possible though, you'd think at least Asus would have put something together that did the job otherwise (let alone all the custom makers).
I think that blurex looks like it might be the best of average solutions to the problem. One thing I am concerned with is are the clips gonna eventually loosen/break if I'm constantly switching the tab between the dock and case?
bob dylan, do you have an opinion on that?

i very much doubt the clips would break, i dont know what they are made out of but they are sturdy as hell, i cant bend them at all when i press on them or try and twist them( maybe some kind of metal skeleton underneath? dunno). this case is very well made indeed, the clips do not leave any mark on the tablet at all.
---------- Post added at 04:37 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:30 PM ----------
just to clarify, with the blurex case i dont ever take the case off when using the keyboard dock. the case is fine with the dock as the back of the case just folds up behind the tab when the dock is connected and the keyboard is being used flat on a surface.
the only draw back to this case is that it doesnt close fully when the keboard is attached, you can close the tablet and the dock the usual way you just cant close the case fully. so for me i dont have a scenario where i need to take the case off.
when i want the tablet on its own i just take off the dock
when i want the dock attached i attach it and fold the back of the case up behind the tablet
when i want both and i am out and about i take the dock off and put the cased tablet and dock in a neoprene sleeve.
I ordered the same Minisuit case you linked originally, with the removable dock part.
In theory I think this fits my use case best. I have a toddler, and also toss it in my computer bag, so I wanted it protected/always covered, if it is docked or not.
I do really like the case. Its seems OK quality for $30. Having the ability to undock it and carry around just the tablet is great. I found that I was carrying around both the dock and the tablet often because I was worried about something scratching the screen. So Now, I carry just the tablet around with me much of the time, with the folio case protecting the screen.
Typing with the dock/tablet sitting in my lap is much better with the case on. It makes the base less rounded, so it is less enclined to tilt forward in my lap. Plus the corners of the case raise my wrists up off the keyboard slightly, which makes it feel more comfortable.
The case seems to be a little fiddly though.
The hole for the camera on the back sometimes gets in the way of shots.
It sometimes the tablet doesn't want to connect to the dock without undoing the elastic bands that keep the cover secured to the dock. I've just started leaving those un-done, since even if it connects, it seems to limit the tilt angle. And the elastic strap sometimes covers the charging light on the dock. And that works mostly ok. The snaps on the back sometimes are hard to work as well.
Thanks for the detailed description, you mind uploading some pics from various angles and what you were mentioning about the straps and whatnot.
Thanks!

Before I bought it, I stumbled on this review. Check out the 5th image here (also a decent review, lots of pictures)
http://www.transformerforums.com/forum/asus-transformer-accessories/6182-minisuit-folio-case-review-tuff-luv-clone.html
You can see the elastic strap that keeps the underside of the case attached to the dock. Scroll a bit further down, and you can see the picture of the two attached together. The reviewer didn't seem to have any problems with the straps. I can make it work ok with them on, but it just seems to make docking a bit harder...and it definitely seems that they get pinched when reclining the screen back fully.
But they're not really needed. If you have the two pieces snapped together, the snaps hold the base piece in place. Really what the straps do is to keep the case from falling off the dock when the transformer isn't docked. And you could put the straps back on in that case...
Cool thanks
I own a real Tuff-Luv case and really like it. Worth what I paid even if that's about double what that clone costs. It does add some bulk.
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Xparent Purple Tapatalk
Yeah i decided to splurge and grab the real Tuff-Luv case off amazon (Veggie leather, never seen the genuine leather anywhere aside from the official site). It is quite expensive but i do believe the build quality will be better than the knockoffs (also the MiniSuit knockoff does not have a cutout for the left speaker, and ive heard of minor issues with alignment of the holes (for cameras, etc).
when it arrives in a couple weeks, i will post pictures.

Does it feel like a good connection or is it a poor fit as others have noted?
The connection seems to be good, however I know what people are talking about. Because the back of the Prime is curved, there is no bottom surface to contact the adapter. This allows the adapter to be deflected if you push on it, however it isn't going to fall out as there is too much friction/tension once the connector is pushed on. I actively pushed on the adapter from front to back and back to front and there was no loss of electrical connectivity (I was actively using an XBox 360 gamepad to scroll from icon to icon).
I do agree with others that say they wish ASUS would have redesigned the adapter for the Prime, but it does work and that is what I needed.
Just fyi, I have ordered two different USB female/female adapters to finally put to bed whether these types of adapters will allow different USB devices to work with the stock cable. They didn't cost much, so I was glad to order them just so I could see for myself.
These two adapters should arrive first of next week and I will update or create another thread with my findings.
If you have any specific tests related to the connection you would like me to perform, please let me know.
Thanks for the response. I'm wondering if the little plastic cover that ships with the Prime to protect the power port can be modified (with dremel) to act as a holder for the USB connector. Somehow attach it to the connector to give it a more secure fit?
Thanks I needed one of these really bad

I have wondered the same thing. I plan to try out a few different mods I have in mind to see if I can come up with a simple design to firm up the seating of the adapter. If I am successful, I'll post some pics and set of steps.
If only it wasn't as long, maybe wider instead, and had the USB plug into the side instead of the bottom it would be usable.

[Q] Using the DK39 magnetic charger with the sony case?

Ok really stupid question, i have my z2, i have the official sony case and also the official sony dk39 magnetic charger, the charger and case are both advertised as you can charge your tablet even with the case on.
i dont know if i am missing something, but i am finding it hard to work out how exactly i do this lol
i have tried with the removable part that comes with the charger both off and on, with it off the tablet and case just fall out, with the removable part attached the tablet and case are too thick to fit in?
I am having to practically make sure that the covers of the case are folded and hanging in a certain position so that i can just sit the tablet on the charger (as if the case wasn't on), so that only the tablet is sliding into the dock.
im not sure if this is how its supposed to be, but the way i read the advertisement for both, i got the impression that the tablet with the case closed would be able to slot into the charger and it would still charge through the case?
Or have i just been really stupid and i am trying to do something thats impossible, im just confused by all the reviews that say you can use this sony case with the charger?
Thanks
James

That's the way.
And the cover can be hung/dressed in different ways... the whole case is like a crazy origami.
I use the magnetic flap to hold it, so when it is in the dock, the case is in an upside down "Y" shape.
Has anyone tried the common Chinese after-market versions of the DK39? I have one that really mitigates (meaning, bad) the power flow. Using Battery Monitor, the amperage is about half from the same transformer going through the pseudo-DK39 vs. directly to the USB port. Visually, this stand is identifiable by not having the little back support to keep the tablet upright.
I see another unit I'm tempted to buy that does have that small backplate. That's the one I'm curious about. 1) does it allow positioning of the Z2T in the cradle with a thin TPC case? 2) does it rival the USB port in power delivery?

That removable part needs to be attached.
Tablet cover needs to be opened for charging the tablet. So you do not need to remove the cover - but you need to open it.
Just look at the case, look at the contacts. Contacts need to make contact with the charging pins of the DK39; that's why they're called that way.
im not sure if this is how its supposed to be, but the way i read the advertisement for both, i got the impression that the tablet with the case closed would be able to slot into the charger and it would still charge through the case?

This is no inductive charger (as seen with electric toothbrushes), the charger needs to be in direct touch with the charging contacts at the Z2's bottom. If you punch two additional holes in the case, it might work. If you are not willing to do this: Open the case, charge.
And enjoy far shorter charging times if using a better power adapter than Sony's - e. g. Samsungs 2 A chargers (the ones provided with S4, S5, etc.).

Any reason ?
Just because it's from China ? - There are SO many real great products from China - I don't see any sense in comdemning a product just because of it's origin.
So please provide a REASON - or remove your post.
I am not talking about original Chinese products, but replicas, copies of products from big brands; these are usually terribly inferior quality wise. If this charging dock is called dk39 but it's not made by Sony, then it's a fake. It may somewhat function, but it's still a fake.
Case and charger
Hi,
I have both the Sony case the the magnetic charger.
On the charger, insert the "loose" part into the base of the charger and simply fold the cover back. They work seamlessly and allow you to charge without removing the case.
