Q[Sprint E3D] hboot 1.58 suitabillity - HTC EVO 3D

We all know that new stock rom from ota is need 1.58 hboot, so the question is: what part that cause the boot loop if we use older hboot? New Kernel? Or the other parts of new rom? Please let me know.

New kernel. MikeyXDA put out a new version of meanROM based on the new ota except uses the vm leak kernel. Works fine for older hboots. Flash the new kernel with it, get bootloop if on older hboot.

I've heard it's pretty good. I'm personally holding out because I like zr3d (a GB ROM) which may not boot on the new fw.

Flashing ICS Rom

Do I really have to flash an RUU before flashing an ICS rom or is there an alternative?
if you want ics rom that has 2.01.605.11 than no u don't no need to.
if you want ics rom that has 3.11.605.22 than yes u need to ruu leaked ics.
Some of the roms offer a patch you can run instead..
For example - CleanRom
"UPDATE: Because some people are hesitant to flash the leaked RUU I have posted a patch for those with the old firmware HERE NO SUPPORT IS GIVEN FOR THE PATCH! Support will only be given for those on the leaked firmware!"

+1 to this but some people are still having problems flashing the patch. I would just flash the RUU and do it the right way. Less problems and it was done right.
I've been back and forth from gb to ics. Just flash the rom let the kernel update, boot up the phone, go back to recovery and flash the patch.
Scott's newest cleanrom is for any RUU. His rom is as stable and as awesome as it gets.

The latest CleanRom updates supports both now.. Personally I wouldn't RUU in case there's any issues with installing an official update unless you need to...
I installed it myself, this was before the patches came along...

[Q] upgrade firmware from gb to ICS

Okay, So I've got s-off, unlocked, rooted, all of that stuff going on right now. I've been reading through and I'm so confused on how to upgrade from stock GB to ICS. I see so many methods for different roms, Can someone point me in the direction in I need to go? I'm currently running software number 2.01.605.11 w/ PRI 1.13_002, 1.88_002
Depends what you want to do....
If you dont care for new radios and such, flash an ics Rom of your choosing and then flash the old firmware patch.
If you want new radios run an ics ruu (2 times, 1st time only updates some stuff and you'll have issues unless you do it 2 times) then flash an ics Rom of your choosing.
Also upgrade to amon ra 3.15 if you are on an older version. 3.15 is updated for the changes in ics

Ok, I would like the latest RUU, but do I flash through recovery, or rename and flash through hboot or something?
EDIT: I currently am running Ra 3.15
Flash through hboot as a ph98IMG
Run it twice then you'll need to put amon ra 3.15 again.
I'll attach a copy of amon ra 3.15..... You can rename it to ph98img and flash it in bootloader the same way. Or you can use whatever way you prefer.
Edit: here's the link

Thanks, That's what I thought. I use to be familiar with this when I was using my thunderbolt. But "upgraded" to the LG spectrum and there was absolutely no development for that phone for the 4 months I had it. So I lost touch. BTW never get that phone. I honestly hated it more than any apple product...which to me is a lot of hate
Ok, so I flashed the 3.14.605.5 Ice Cream Sandwich ZIP RUU, I'm still s-off, unlocked and running RA 3.15 . but now it saying I'm not rooted.
Can't you root it again through AmonRa??
I believe there is an issue with ICS. Just flash a rooted stock ROM.

[q] radios included with most roms?

I'm still using radios from an early ics leak. Was wondering if most roms include the latest kernel and radios or if I had to manually flash those separately.
I also already went through the soff process and was planning on flashing a new rom soon
Thanks
You must flash radios on your own. Roms do not include them.

+1 and if they did it would be dangerous to do it

If you're s-on, you need to flash the latest leak to get the latest radios, if you're s-off, there is a thread with the radios in the dev section you can use to update them.
Thanks ^_^ just wanted to make sure before I mess up my phone

Hboot 1.4 & ics

Is anyone working on making the latest ICS (with latest kernel) work with HBOOT 1.4?

The latest OTA ICS from sprint works fine with hboot 1.4. Just be sure to flash the right .zip. Try this Here
Basic Sprint Stock Rom, zip-aligned with a few simple extras.
I'm on 1.4 and tribulattifather 's from works (well)
No need to update hboot with his rom like some others do
But does that include the new KERNEL as well? I noticed that the kernel build wasn't listed. Mean ROM is reportedly working for 1.4 as long as you don't take the new kernel. So my question still remains. Is anyone working on a way to make the new release / kernel / firmware work for 1.4?

So I did some further research and to answer your question, no. Nobody has got the new kernel to work with older hboots. If you want to flash the new kernel, why not upgrade your hboot? People have had success doing that, no ill affects. plus its easy to revert to hboot 1.4 if you want.

rooted running Meanrom ICS, can I just update to get stock sprint ICS???

I've been running MeanRom ICS. I wanted to give the sprint stock version a try. What's the best way to do this?
Thanks.
Oh, read the forums, I think about a gizzilion boot loops, problems, issue's

Well since you can't update ota if you are rooted, just find a stock rooted rom and flash it just like any other rom. As you SHOULD know from reading, you can't run the new kernel without the new hboot, so update to that if you want to use the new kernel.

The 2.4 version I do believe was based on the VM leak. His newest 2.6 version is based on the latest Sprint release, and works just great. I have been running it with no issues.
If you have S-off , you can upgrade the hboot and kernel to the latest. If not, you can leave the kernel and hboot you have and just flash the rom.
Just and idea.
