Flashing a rom via Heimdall using MAC OSX - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys, I'm a bit frustrated with MAC as I can't flash roms using this crap. I have a PC but don't have access to it at the moment so I'm stuck with MAC OSX(will be stuck using mac for a looong time) and have no choice.
So I've downloaded heimdall a few weeks ago and haven't been able to use it as MAC cannot detect the phone when I put it in download mode and plug it in.
I have no USB drivers installed so i think that's why. I can't find any installers
for MAC.
In the meantime I am using mobile odin to flash all the roms and it's working good so far. I need to learn how to use heimdall on MAC in case my phone gets soft bricked or ends up in boot loop and will have no access to mobile odin. Right now what I do is to restore a NAND backup to revive my phone in case the above mentioned happens.
I don't want to use the NAND restore as much as possible because of the hardbrick(MMC_CAP_ERASE) bug fiasco on ICS kernels.
So if anyone can direct me to a tutorial somewhere or if someone could post a quick tutorial here on how they did it on a MAC that would end my frustration.
Someone suggested to use bootcamp to dual boot MAC and windows but that would require a lot of setup on my end, that would be my last resort
Oh and BTW my phone is a Galaxy Note N-7000 don't even know if its supported/compatible with heimdall

[Q] please help i think i briked!!!

OK so ive look for hours around xda at tons of threads and i cant find anyone with the same problem as me, my phone got stuck on the tmobile vibrant boot up screen after trying to flash an oc kernal from update.zip. so i decided to fix it with odin. im on a mac and i have a windows 7 virtual machine with odin3, kies, and the 32 bit vibrant drivers installed and it doesn't register my phone in download mode. it does recognized it in recovery but, for some reason not in download mode. please help
Won't work on Mac
For what I know, Odin won't recognize your phone in a virtual machine on a mac. I tried, it never worked, luckily I have a physical windows machine at home, maybe this is not your case. Good luck.

There is no ODIN for mac.
But I'm sure you can get your hands on a PC for an hour or two. Go to a library or a friend's house. C'mon man.
yeah, i am in the same boat. i have no access to a pc
I have struggled with this myself, so you're not alone. Your best bet if you don't want to borrow a windows machine is to stick a copy of Windows on your computer via VMWare Fusion or Boot Camp or what have you.
Run Parallels....or find a friend. What version of OS X are you running?
From my experience even that doesnt work. I tried Odin on my boot camp Windows 7 partition on MacBook Pro with no luck.

yes i am trying it on parallels now but it does not seem to register that the phone is plugged in when i run odin. when i plug it in it does ask me where i would like to mount the phone, OSX or VM and i choose vm but obviously it wont mount in downloading mode (or does it?) but odin doesnt do anything to the phone :/

[Q] Flash GS2 Roms on a Mac

Hey I'm relatively new to this forum but I'll try to keep it short. Does anyone know of a way to flash ROMs to the GS2 or other Android phones on a Mac? I've searched quite a bit but I can't seem to find any way of doing this. If there is no way I'd like to know if there is anyone out there who could make the software to do this. There must be many Android and even Galaxy S2 users who have macs, maybe some of them would like to be able to flash ROMs on OSX.
To reiterate:
1. Is there any way of flashing ROMs on OSX without running a virtual machine?
2. If there are no solutions currently who would I talk to about possibly developing software for OSX to do this?
From my understanding kies for mac is really really terrible and broken, and you can't really flash any rome besides stock ones anyway even using kies (on windows anyway, never tried the mac version)
and odin only works on windows theres no known mac version at all..so we are just stuck either using VM or just good ol bootcamp. Its funny because thats literally the only time i ever boot up windows anymore, when I'm messing with odin.
sucks, but thats the way it is for now...

[Q] Flashing Light'ning ROM with Mac OS

Hey,
so i received my S II two days ago and today i wanted to flash the lightning ROM on my mobile. So first I tried Odin at my VM but when I tried to connect my mobile in download mode to my VM there is an error. Then I read about heimdall and tried it. The problem is, that it won't detect my device (I'm in Download mode).
Does somebody, maybe a mac user how had the same problem, an advice?
- Cole
Yes, my advice is boot camp! Always have it at hand, you never know when you might need it.
I only succeded to have ADB working on mac.

Galaxy S3 soft brick help

Hi guys,
I'm pretty sure I soft bricked my s3, upon reboot I get the samsung logo followed by a black screen with the bootloader sound in the background. I have looked into "unbricking" guides, but I can't follow them correctly because of the problem I wil explain below.
The main issue here is that I can't get a PC or Mac to read my phone, so technically I can't unbrick it until i solve this issue. On PC, I have installed the correct drivers multiple times without success, and as for Mac I am using Android File Transfer.app which was working for me fine up until I soft bricked. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, I've had this phone for 12 hours and now I can't use it lol.

Kies firmware fix? There's this re-inisitalization for firmwares on kies if you don't wanna mess with Odin and whatnot.
The only problem with this is that my phone doesn't even show up on Kies.
