well u can install cm10, but not with rom manager but thro CWM recovery, since rom manager has some issues.
the stock kernel that comes with the rom is really good.
in order to check ur kernel go to Systemsettings>about phone and under kernel version u see ur kernel

[Q] How to Update CF-ROOT?

I'm running the latest version of the Resurrection remix, I rooted it before using CF-ROOT which was CF-Root-SGS2_XW_XEN_LP7-v5.4-CWM5. I used the official rom before, then used that CF-ROOT then installed Resurrection remix.
Now when I go into CWM manager it says This version of CWM manager should be used with cf-root v5.0 or newer. but I'm sure I rooted with version 5.4. What should I do to fix it? Everything works fine its just this is nagging me
Would I be able to re-root it as normally and keep my ROM?
A new Rom implements a new Kernel
i dont know which one Resureection uses all i know its a AOKP Rom.
You can try CF Root but i dont know if it Supports AOKP Roms.
Well check your Phone info in Settings it should say which Kernel is used atm.

My kernel is 3.036-FLUXI-XX.02, what should I do in regards to the error? Basically my CF-ROOT needs the latest version, anything that could be done? Thank you.
So you are not on CF Root anymore beacause Resurrection Rom flashed with Fluxi Kernel..
Well Fluxi should support CWM - but i dont know if its the same as in CF

If you flash a different kernel (in your case Fluxi Kernel), CWM Manager may remain installed. However, functions may not work, because they need kernel compatibility! Just flash Siyah Kernel 3.3.2 & CWM Manager will recognize it again...cheers

[Q] CM10 Stock Kernel?

Hey can anyone provide me the link with the stock cm 10 kernel, i was on cm10 but then i flashed a different kernel n i wanna go back to the cm10 stock kernel. how can i do this? does anyone have the link to it? thanks
Flash CM10 again without wiping; the kernel will overwrite your existing kernel. Once you've done that, get kTool from Google Play (and buy Hellcat a beer) & dump the CM10 kernel to your internal SD card.
That way, in the future, if you try out other kernels & want to go back to to the CM10 kernel you'll be able to flash just the kernel (with Mobile Odin or Odin) without having to flash the whole rom (whenever you flash a new CM10 build, do this step immediately afterwards so you have a copy of the latest kernel).
Or....you could ask in the CM10 discussion thread, tho you'd be able to do the above 50 times in the time you'd wait to get an answer/a link to just the kernel
Nice, didn't realise there was such app that can do that. Thanks
Of and do you think it will work with stock Ics kernel? I don't see why not tbh
Sent from my sexy Galaxy SII
Yep. You can dump any kernel with kTool & then flash the kernel with Odin/Mobile Odin.

Hi There!
Best place to start is the FAQs http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2156592
You don't need to flash a seperate kernal with each new ROM, as they are included.

The root task is done by both of the kernels indeed. But:
If you just want to root your device CF-Root will do the thing.
Siyah or Siyah related kernels (DorimanX Kernel for example) and some others are more advanced kernels that
give you the ability to adjust some settings through an app (STweaks) that is installed with the kernel.

DorimanX Kernel
Siyah Kernel
The best way to find out what you can do with the kernels is to read their threads.
It's to much to explain. Just as an example: Change CPU frequency and volting, enable different setting profiles for
improved battery life and much more.
The kernel I like most is DorimanX but you have to be more experienced because of a lot of different options.
Siyah, which is the base of the DorimanX, is more compact with the settings and easier to learn.
No matter what kernel you use, make sure your rom is supported. (Stock or Custom, AOKP / CM Base?)

If you just want to flash a kernel because you want to get root and install a custom rom than CF-Root is the best thing.
Every custom rom comes with it's own kernel that fits. Only if you want to get an advanced kernel you may flash one of these:
DorimanX or
Siyah vsync v4/5
in their modified versions for CM and AOKP based roms.
Do NOT flash these kernels as long as you are on a Stock based rom. It won't boot then.
Make sure you know how to install custom roms! Mostly described in the rom threads itself.
So you steps should be:
1. flash CF-Root via odin to get your phone rooted.
2. copy the zip file to sd card and flash the rom via recovery.
3. stay with the delivered kernel of the custom rom or flash another via odin or recovery if you want an advanced one.

Don't get me wrong, but I think It's better if you make your own experience with installing/flashing >>Instructions
Everything you need is explained here step by step. Won't take you that long to read through it think
If you don't know the difference between Stock and Custom, just use the forum search.
And I figured out that it's better to root via Siyah for you with this one Siyah for stock rom
For titanium i got no advice for you because I'm not experienced with it. But there should be some threads guiding you through.
when you don't get something in the tutorials you're free to ask here again. But for now good luck and have fun learning something about

What you have to do is to flash this kernel via Odin Odin
- (USB) Disconnect your phone from your computer
- Start ODIN
- Click the PDA button, and select .tar file you've downloaded (Siyah in this case)
- Put your phone in download mode (google it if you dno't know how to)
- (USB) Connect the phone to your computer
- Make sure repartition is NOT checked
- Click the START button
- Wait for the phone to reboot
- Done (if it took you more than 30 seconds, you need practise!)
after this steps your phone is rooted and then you can install your custom firmware.

if you flash the Siyah kernel it automatically installs the a recovery. there is no need to install it separately.
you just have to download the zip file for your custom rom (Jelly Beer 4.18 in your case) and copy it to your external sd card.
then do this

Firstly: Please give more detailed information (which kernel do you use, which ROM did you use before the problem occurred?)
Secondly: It is possible that you can't acess recovery mode anymore when flashing new updates. Happens with CM 10.2 OTA Update right now. The solution would be to flash a new recovery using Heimdall (Open-Source ODIN alternative) [Didn't try that, but should theoretically work] or, mor simple, a new kernel. Dorimany v9.34 is suited perfectly for that. Download here: http://dorimanx.shine.sk/ .

You installed a Kernel while rooting your phone: Its the .tar that you have to put into the PDA section in ODIN. There are Kernels with .tar and .zip: .tar files are only flashable using Odin while .zip files are flashed using the recovery just like you flash ROMs. I guess your Kernel is a custom CM Kernel (CM for Cyanogen Mod). Carbon ROM is probably based on CM. There is currently no other workaround to get your recovery back then flashing a new kernel/recovery. I am currently working on an easy workaround for this problem, but it will take a while.
Dorimanx is downloadable here http://dorimanx.shine.sk/ and should be compatible: Just flash it like you did when rooting your phone in the beginning, just with Dorimanx .tar in PDA. Recovery should work again afterwards.
My mistake: It's Dorimanx, not Dorimany
Hit Thanks and just ask if you need additional help!

1. Yes you should
2. Not right now, maybe in the future, flashing recovery.img using Heimdall would probably help, but I didn't try it myself and using Heimdall is quite complex
3. In General: The newest .tar (9.34/8.34) as you can't use .zip files

When you want to use CM/AOKP based ROM: Version 9

I agree, the problem results of the ROM: But you have to flash dorimanx after carbon because carbon replaces the current kernel with its own CM custom Kernel. It should work just fine with carbon when it's flashed after installing carbon.

[Q] need help

I am a newbie regarding android roms and all that .. and I need help ..
As I see dual booting in galaxy S2 .. I was wondering if I can .. then after some study on this site .. I get to know how to root .. now my phone is rooted but dont have CWM installed .. I tried to flash CWM .. it starts CWM successfully .. but after rebooting it again it start samsung recovery .. so my question here is .. Can I just flash CWM nd then Siyah Kernel same time without rebooting between each flash .. and One thing is that can I use my Samsung original Rom (4.1.2) as primary Rom and other rom (Resurrection Remix) as secondary ???
-*-*-*-*
I have tried my self .. when flashing Siyah Kernel .. it says some thing like asserts ... or like that .. and failed to flash kernel ..
now what am I suppose to do for flashing Siyah kernel or any better kernel for dual booting ... ??
Samsung Galaxy S2 GT I9100

1) If you really want help, you need to use a better title than 'Need help. Plenty of people will not even bother to read your thread in the first place due to that alone (you're lucky I'm bored right now).
2) The reason CWM isn't persisting after you reboot is because recovery is baked into the kernel on the SGS2 & isn't a separate partition like other phones. So if you want permanent CWM, you need to flash a custom kernel.
3) If you flash Siyah on it's own, you will end up with a rooted phone + CWM & you can go from there. I suspect the reason you got those errors are you used the wrong build for the particular Android version you are running. If you want to make it easy for yourself, I suggest you read the first page of the Siyah thread carefully then download the Odin version you need for the Android version you're running (I forget which is which; haven't run Siyah for >12 mths) & flash that.
Yes, you can dual boot with Siyah. There are detailed instructions in the Siyah threads, and there have also been a multitude of dual boot how-to's written (search in both cases).

thanx bro for ur reply .. nd yeah U are ryt for title thing .. I realized the same thing after posting the issue .. yeah I have read the Kernel thread nd I have flashed with the ryt version ( latest) ""Siyah-s2-v6.0b5-CWM"" I think this is the latest version of Siyah I could get from the Siyah Kernel site for S2 ..
If I consider to flash Dorimanx .. I think this is also dual boot supported .. what u guys reccomend .. ???
V6.0b5 is the latest siyah kernel he made. For dualbooting I would recommend dorimanx 8.xx as you will be able to run a modded stock Sammy rom and a aokp/cm rom at the same time. ? if you use 9.xx dorimanx kernel you will only be able to run aokp/cm roms.
8.32 dorimanx is rock stable running both custom and modded stock roms imo.

thanx mate .. with dormanx 8.32 I will be able to use stock samsung Jb ( primary) with other secondary rom .. ?? am I ryt ..
Yes you can pick any stock Rom but it needs to be running a modded updater script for the preload. Then custom or another modded stock rom in 2nd rom. Look up @Troubadour666 he's made many dualboot threads and is a nice guy. Speak to him on all things dualboot. Can't go wrong with his advice
