SGS3 bricked (after Kies). Please help... - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello.
1) I tried to upgrade my rooted SGS3 in Kies. It freezes during upgrading at 6% (more than an hour at 6%). I stopped upgrading, turned off and turned on the battery. Now I see "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again".
2) I tried flashing in ODIN. It failed, the phone freezes in Downloading mode.
3) I tried recovery in Kies. It freezes too (at 11%).
What should I do now? Guys, please help...

BUY yourself a new phone....

Odin at PC shows 'Upgrade failed'. But phone's display looks like it freezes.
It's a stock firmware from Sammobile: I9300XXBLFB_I9300OXEBLF1_SER.zip

You can though you may not get an update .
INSTRUCTIONS
Flash stock rom through Odin but read instructions first .
Instructions do not say flash zip through Odin but as firmware is from another forum you would need to ask them / read their instructions .
Why not use stock firmware from XDA ???

1) Of course I extracted zip file before flashing.
2) XDA don't offer the latest version of SGS3 firmware for Russia.

Correct firmware used and instructions followed .
Then a faulty download of the firmware or a damaged phone are the only solutions left ..
I would personally try flashing CF root via Odin and wiping phone via mounts and storage format .
Only other choice is a service centre .

Hi everybody and thanks for those. who tried to help me.
I just tried to connect the cable to another usb port (not front one, but the one on the motheboard) and this helps!!!! Now I have the latest firmware, installed by Kies. So the reason was simple - the bad USB Port.

That's good to hear. Wonder if its the USB port itself or a software problem..
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2

It's the usb port. I used the idea from other thread. Never use front usb port (on desktops) to upgrade the phone.
Another idea - is to change the cable
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2

Great you solved it, i learned my lesson, never use front usb ports. Would be really ***** if u bricked ur device. I would have gone nuts.

2) Flash pit file with odin and repartition checkbox (only pit file without firmware!!!).
3) Start Phone to Download mode again and flash stock firmware.

Front USB often means its not running full power as its not a direct motherboard feed but wired as a supplementary port .

Kies won't recognize phone's version

Hello,
I have a stock rom and am not rooted.
I can't get kies to know my phone's version, which means I dont get updates from it.
I don't want to flash a new rom (warranty, even if I flash a stock rom) but I do want to find a solution.
I tried to reset the phone, didn't help.
OTA doesn't work either.
Thanks..

Factory reset via recovery wipes all data .
Entered with the key combination of Vol Up + Home + Power from powered off phone . Hold down until splash screen appears release .
OTA is not in full use yet .

I would recommend a stock rom as well... but this is where it all becomes a headache for me because I'm still trying to figure out what stock rom to download. Hope your issue gets sorted.

Your not saying kies doesn't work because another device is connecting ok. Your saying it's not detecting your device right?
Can your device connect in USB mode?
If no maybe USB port problem and needs to be returned.
If yes download official stock firmware of your choice and Odin from intratechs thread and flash using the instructions in that thread.
Your device will then be the same as if upgraded via kies.
See then if kies will play nicely.

looks too much mess up and you took wrong step in panic..
You should not have flashed a Kernel to get rid of bricked screen (phone!PC), you have to get download mod and falsh complete ROM that time...
you told your Running ROM was 2.3.6 but KI3 is an old version...

You say you dont have Kies. Download kies. Run it and it will install the drivers. Close Kies. Make sure its not running in the background. Install your original firmware that came with the phone using Odin. If your in download mode, your not bricked.

Need serious help guys!!!!!!

So my phone was rooted via CF Root 6.4. Didn't flashed any ROM or stuff. I once (accidently) checked for the Software Updates and there was a 0.17MB Update available and it instantly downloaded that! Then it rebooted and installed the OTA Update. I had random reboots ever since then. But just today it rebooted but won't load any further!! It turns on and gets stuck at the "Samsung Galaxy SIII" logo then turns off. I can access the CWM Recovery for just like 3 seconds when it gets rebooted again! I CAN however go to the "Download Mode".
My requirements are simple. What firmware I should re-flash via ODIN? LINK ME ONLY!!!!
I also heard the CHECKFUS thing??? what the hell is that? Will my phone be okay?? :/
Reply please! Anyone who visits, please leave ur response!

Sounds like a pooched bootloader / recovery. If you can get into download then don't worry, Odin will be able to sort your problems. As people have said you flash over the Stock with Odin and you will have recovered the device to a workable condition.
Where do i get such confidence...I have soft bricked a few devices in my time.

Guys, i installed the firmware, but the problem still exists,
it reboots automatically as it is showing the "Samsung Galaxy S III" screen, (it sometimes proceeds to the "Samsung" Logo" but thats all. it reboots again.)
the firmware is installed fine from odin, it gives no problem while installing the actual rom as well, but it just reboots after a few seconds.
One more thing i tried to install backup from the CWM i made earlier, but it too restarts when i go into recovery mode after a few seconds.

You will need to boot into download mode then flash your stock rom using odin or if you want to flash a custom first flash siyah kernel via odin and reboot into recovery and continue.
If you cant get into download or recovery etc then your device is screwed and you will need to get a JTAG repair or mobo replacement.
PS. Dont ask what download mode is, use search.

Is it dead? Odin Screenshot.

So my phone started acting up, slowing down, glitching, freezing etc.
I took a titanium backup, formatted the phone and reinstalled my rom (via CWM).
It kept crashing, so I went back into CWM, and tried to wipe it again, but it kept erroring on accessing the cache partition.
I downloaded Odin and tried to reflash it back to stock - it failed.
Assumed it was a partition problem, so I grabbed the PIT file and tried to flash that.
This is the error:
Long and short - is it new phone time, or can this be saved?
If you upgraded your phone to XELLA or higher ver you can't go back, because of new boot loader.

In both cases its a service centre job .

Any ideas of approx price? :S
Imagine whatever price you want, and add 100-150€ extra...

I've had similar issues before, it worked eventually.
Try Odin3 v.1.85 from here (CF-Auto-Root thread).
Next, be sure you got a valid file, those from sammobile (I see from screenshots you want polish ROM).
Next, use only PDA button, nothing else, make sure it's the same settings as in root thread above.
Also make sure all Kies processes are closed.
Now, try until it works. It might take a few tries. This is what worked for me, hope it does for you too.
AW: Is it dead? Odin Screenshot.
If you are in Europe service center will repair it without adding money.

The same error happened to me after kies asked for some updates , i had to delete kies and samsung usb drivers then i downloaded only the usb drivers and the next time i tried odin it worked, i cant remember where i downloaded the usb drivers but i have them on my hdd and can upload them if u want.
Edit link for USB drivers : https://www.dropbox.com/s/yks4sudqsehazez/drivers.rar
Just use the pda option in Odin with the correct firmware for u galaxy with the right bootloader, not CSC and phone option, its easy to get back ur phone.

Why do you have Re-Partition ticked??? It should be unticked!

Aright missed that... But anyway, why the hell bothering with .Pit and Re-Partition? It's very dangerous...
Change CSC if needed or flash specific ROM...
Anyway... hope he gets it sorted...
