Read one of the numerous guides on updating using Odin. It's easy, as long as your boot loader is intact
One such guide is found here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1544487
Read here to, its important and interesting

You will need to boot into download mode then flash your stock rom using odin or if you want to flash a custom first flash siyah kernel via odin and reboot into recovery and continue.
If you cant get into download or recovery etc then your device is screwed and you will need to get a JTAG repair or mobo replacement.
PS. Dont ask what download mode is, use search.

Do you mean, you can still login via adb?
yeah, do something via adb. My pc and Odin still recognise my phone.

2. Flashing with Odin

(2.a) Which procedure did you follow exactly?
(2.b) Did Odin report the success at the end with : PASSED (with blue background)
(2.c) Did your phone reboot after Odin logs on the left the reset message?

[Q] Urgent! Bricked phone

Ok so I tried to install the Domination ICS 4.0.5 theme on my phone. Followed the instructions very closely and still ended up in a bootloop. My phone was rooted and running an Odexed rom.(the theme was compatible with Odexed stock roms) and I had no prior mods installed. I tried a factory reset but when it starts up it says phone process, system UI has stopped and I get a boot loop. I can get into download mode.
I need urgent help as this is not my phone. Is there anyway to reflash stock ICS on it.
*EDIT* Sorry didn't see the sticky thread about boot loops. I was kind of in a panic. Can a mod please delete this thread
yeah boot you will have to flash back via odin
Yeah I guess I'm just a little panicky right now as this phone is a loaner phone from the service center. I shouldn't have tried to mess with it....lol. Well I'll just re download and flash with odin then and hope it boots up.
Good luck!

Why on earth did you start messing with it in the first place, if its a loaner its not yours so why root etc???

I know I was dumb. But I rooted it using a method which the flash counter does not change and I thought I'd just unroot it using the same method before I send it back. Also I got fed up with touchwiz. BTW isn't the left most box suppossed to be yellow in odin. Looks like its not picking up my phone. Oh ****
don't be panick your phone is still healthy.. just install the stock rom via Odin again or you have a CWM ? so install a rom with that things
cheers
Note : bricked is while your SGS II can't get to download mode mate although you tried with JIG ... J-Tag is only Hope for completely bricked phone

Thank yu!
Looks like you flashed a file for a galaxy note 2 and not an s3.
You need to be careful and flash the right files to your phone or you could end up with a hard brick.
Have a look at the stickies on how to root.
Oh and make sure you have an international galaxy s3 9300 as that is this forum your in.

you flashed the wrong file (Note II), the process is correct but you need to flash the cf root/auto-root file for the S3 as mentioned! Try it again with it and see if it fixes your issue.
You Might wanna flash a stock firmware in odin first before you try rooting.

Tried CFA autoroot..It flashed well but after rebooting touch panel doesnt work..I cant click on language selection or next or any button..Its jst the same as first
Flash stock rom then factory reset .
Then read the basic faqs and guides before flashing anything or ignore and head straight down the highway to Bricksville .

One take to a service centre is best as you have a big problem and zero knowledge .
OR
You could try flashing CF Root recovery from development then booting to recovery format cache system data sd card and preload .
Then download mode and flash stock rom via Odin .

If you phone connects to your PC then try completely resetting the phone using Kies
Start Kies, then go to Tools then Firmware Upgrade and Installation, this process will wipe the phone and reinstall the latest firmware, you will need some details from under the phone battery but just follow the on screen instructions.

Oh..got it now..
Jst out of curiosity..how does rooting some software destroy hardware?
ANd Cnat I jst change that destroyed part instead of Whole Motherboard>?
No.
You can destroy cpu, gpu by overclocking badly, overvolting, eventually internal card can be corrupted but all those scenario aren't linked to a simple rooting procedure (which is only writing two files on the system partition...).
You need to have a good diagnosis, either the digitizer is dead, or the connection of it on the motherboard. Our the motherboard.
Replacement won't be cheap especially for motherboard.

[Q] Somebody call Columbo!...

Hi all.
I think i have killed my Galaxy S3 i9300!!!
I rooted it and installed the Paranoid Android rom, but then decided to go back to stock rom as I couldn't access the play store.
Now here's the problem... I wiped dalvic cache and did a factory reset, but stupidly wiped the system at the same time.
There is no operating system on the phone at all now and my pc greys out the device when I plug it in.
Odin did recognize the phone, but I couldn't flash a rom to it as it kept getting stuck at 'nand write start' in all versions of odin.
When I try to start in recovery mode (volume up, power and home) I get the green android instead.
I read that it's game over if you can't enter recovery mode.
Have I killed my s3? :crying:
Possible you have damaged the NAND .
wiped the system at the same time>> then you just flash a stock rom via ODIN .
What phone have you what stock did you flash .
You have already posted this why start yet another thread ??

Sorry for the double post, I thought that the first one may have been in the wrong place, it won't happen again.
I never got to flash any stock roms at all because i'm new to all this and I assumed that doing a factory reset was going
to put me back on the stock rom automatically.
That's when I made the mistake of doing the advanced wipe and ticking the system box.
Excuse my ignorance... but is it possible to fix this even if I don't have recovery mode?
Thank you for your help.

If that wont work flash recovery and then use recovery to flash a stock based rom.

Odin gets stucked while flashing

Hi guys,
I need your help.I want to help a friend of mine to flash stock jb rom.
When tried to flash the first odin stucked at hidden and the second time at system after changing usb port and rebooting the computer.
I found somewhere that flashing pit file then the firm may work
Is that because he didn't do a factory reset before flashing?
He's got an s3 I9300 with orange rom 4.0.4.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Flashing a pit will usually hard brick the phone. If odin is correct version, phone is connected properly and you are flashing the right rom for your phone then the worst had already happened, nand failure.
You are missing a lot of information in your post, what does the screen say in download mode and how did you arrive at needing to flash back to stock?
